      Gotcha! Yeah, it was hard to troubleshoot exactly what you meant through text, but if you put some lithium grease lube in the housing/threads, that should also help keep them in place. Locktite can work too, but DO NOT use the kind that cures like epoxy! Use the thicker kind that still allows for adjustment, but keeps the threads from loosening while playing from resonance. Yeah, just let me know if you have any questions, but there is definitely a science to the looseness of the straining while mounting wires. Equidistant and mounted at medium tension will give you play in the wires, and they won't be so tight and come loose. You may have your butt plate and throw off/strainer not tightened enough with the lugs that affix the straps, and they might be coming lose as you play because they have too much play where they affix to the strainer and but plate.

    • @blakenunndrums
      @blakenunndrums Месяц назад

      Also, if your tension is WAY too tight, that will also cause your strainer to come loose. Know how to solve that besides locktight or lithium grease?? Get a new/better snare! 😂 jk

    Hello there , I have a very important question to ask you about the pork pie 13-7 bluegreen patina and the polished bead patina, copper splatter looking, polished version, does those colors types sounds different in between them each please ??, I do love your brass patina copper splatter color 13-7 by the way ….

    • @blakenunndrums
      @blakenunndrums 2 месяца назад

      @emmanuelpascalnaigom6366 Hey, bro! Yeah, the patina does either dry out the sound a bit or give it a little more ping/overtones if it's polished. I found a patina without all the blues/greens on it, and it was still a drier sounding drum, but all a brownish color rather than brown/blue/green. Since this video, I also have a polished 13x7 version. Both are phenomenal, and if you're going to be fighting a wall of guitar/bass amps while playing, a polished vs. patina'd won't make one bit of difference than cosmetic for you. All those overtones and ping will get buried in the mix, 100%. You can get either drum to sound like the other with some creative muffling, head choice, and tuning. So honestly, I'd just go for what you like the look of more. If you want a more vintage and dry sound, go with the patina. If only playing by yourself or recording with it, rather than fighting all those guitar and bass timbres live in the mix, factor that in as well. I've seen WAY more patina versions than polished (I live just 30 minutes down the freeway from Bill Detamore/Pork Pie head honcho), so it seems like the patina ones are more sellable for him, not sure. The 13x7 is a strange dimension drum, with DEEP sounding tone but super sensitivity and a great brass sound; especially for the price. I'll put that PP 13x7 up against drums that are triple the price, 100%. It's that nice. You can also get a hold of Bill, let him know the exact color or pattern of the patina you want, and he'll make you one custom, too. Getting a patina without the blue/green is damn near impossible, but I'm more a fan of the continuous look than the tie-dyed blue/green look, so I scored one that was very different than the rest I was seeing in surrounding stores and online. Get what you gravitate towards looks wise, then consider dampening and dry/vintage/aged brass vs polished and pingier (made up a new word! lol) sound to make your choice. Happy hunting and drumming!

    • @blakenunndrums
      @blakenunndrums 2 месяца назад

      @emmanuelpascalnaigom6366 PS, I also just ordered brass die cast hoops for my polished version as well, so the entire drum will be brass, including the hoops, and the die cast hoops will also get rid of some of those overtones. It's a thin shell with triple flanged hoops, and I even threw a 30 strand snare wires on it! Haha! 30 strand wires on a 13" drum = SUPER sensitive ghost notes and a lot of snap with rim shots. It comes as a naturally open sounding drum, so there are easily ways you can leave it super open (flanged hoops, single ply batter head, 300 mil reso head, etc), or make it have less overtones (2 ply head, moongel/dampening, die cast hoops instead of flanged, etc.) So, I would get more of what you like the look of, then just be a little creative with muffling/hoops/number of wires/thickness of heads, etc. to get it to sound like you want. 👊

It's deceptively harder than it seems with the triplet form, upbeat accents, mixed meter, hits, 32nd note fills, 4/4 16ths during the guitar solo, etc. It's always funny how that works. You're like, "Oh, this will be a piece of cake, I'll just turn it on and play to it." Then you sit down to do it and you're like, "Where'd beat 1 go, I thought we were still doing triplets, what the heck why is there a quick odd meter bar in there, wait now we're back in 4 but with straight 16ths?!" 😆 But in all honesty, it still only took me 20 minutes from active listen-play-upload to do, but I was definitely caught off guard! lol. Yep! Haven't heard this song since I was a teenager. But I asked this man who helped me out what bands he likes, or genres, or tunes, etc.; and he said Goo Goo Dolls, Alice in Chains, and Queen. Alice in Chains makes me feel like when I first started playing when I do their stuff (lol), cause that's basically where I began, and Queen either has really simple or really difficult tunes. You know me, I ain't choosing We Will Rock you or any of that BS, and a good/hard song by Queen (like Bicycle or something) takes time to do right. So, even though I've never played Iris/this song before, I've heard it a bunch and ended up doing it. It's actually deceptively hard! I mean, if you just stay on the hat the whole time like the original drummer, not so much. But it's got triplet form, mixed meter, 4/4 with 16ths, hits, 32nd note fills, etc. lol! It's organized ballad rock chaos. So, I did the tune for that guy as a thank you for his help. Hope you're well, my bro! Thanks for listening!

So, I learned the form quickly (just counted it out), so I could do it as a "gift"/dedication to someone who helped me out. I've got a Mapex Black Panther Solidus snare. It's 11 ply Maple! Love it! 🤘🤘🤘

    • @blakenunndrums
      @blakenunndrums 2 месяца назад

      Yeah, all the black panther lines are great! I'm a fan of hybrid shells, but the shadow has mostly maple, just the inner and outer plies are walnut. Walnut has an unbelievable punch to it, and that's what the Mapex Saturn's are made out of, too. But I also have 20 ply cold pressed all maple (British Merlin), and a lot of other 10-20 ply wood/hybrid shells, so the Shadow is what I generally let other ppl borrow if they need a decent snare and don't have one to use. Yeah, that aluminum black panther is a killer drum! That's why I try to get multiple snares (brass, wood, hybrid, aluminum, steel, etc.) so I have all my bases covered for whatever context the music calls for. That Pork Pie Waterfall Bubinga-maple snare is also killer! I put die cast hoops on it, too (comes with flanged). It's a deep and great timbre drum.

      Hey, my dude! Thanks so much! Yeah, my student Gregory, who is on some videos below as well, loves this band, so I did a cover of it for him. I couldn't believe the actual group/band commented on the video, too! That's pretty crazy! But, I liked the groove and parts to this tune, so I just turned it on and gave it a shot. That's pretty much how I do all my videos; I either just turn it on and freestyle to it without ever trying it first, or just listen to it one or twice to know where the section changes/hits/fills are at, and then just do a take or 2. This one was a listen and then 1 take type of version. Cool group with a lot of styles! You play?? What instrument? I'll check out your channel for sure!

      I only see 2 videos and playlists, none of Rare Americans. But, is that you rapping and doing the programming?? If so, awesome! We should do a collab!

      @printz-of-peepz 2 месяца назад

      @@blakenunndrums yeah there's only the 2 videos and that's me rapping, and I did the video, but not the music! That song is almost 11 years old now, I just put it up a while back, but it's old. I actually haven't written a song since around that time, and haven't rapped either since then. I have considered getting back into it, but I honestly don't know if the ol' man still has it lol...I will think about it and see if I can't get motivated to make music again..if so, would definitely love to collab on something! I'm in the middle of a move, so once I'm settled in, I will see what happens and let ya know.
