I dont understand. If you play also the 5th fret on the g string,that is a C , you are not playing a power chord (that isnt minor nor major)

In the beginning of the video it states on screen that I'm playing in Drop D tuning (6th string is tuned down 2 notes).

Yes. The first five strings are in standard tuning but the sixth string is tuned down two notes (from E to D).

+Del Taco James I most certainly did not. I went over the isolated bass track on the original recording several times, and used Cliff's live performances as visual guides. Any deviation (like the outro) is explained. The links are in the beginning of the video if you want to go over them as thoroughly as I did. This is the most accurate bass tutorial for this song on the entire internet.

john game I think if you listen closely you can figure out the strumming pattern. Nirvana's not known for being precise musicians so you can play it however sounds right to you.

john game That's funny, because I was thinking of doing a "Californication" tutorial the other day, complete with solo. It's certainly one of the Chili Pepper's easier songs, but the band as a whole might be a bit too challenging for an absolute beginner like you. It's best to start off with a band that has very easy songs until you learn the basics (which really won't take too long). The first song I ever tried to learn was Metallica's "The Four Horsemen", so I had to learn that lesson the hard way. That's why I like to do Green Day and Nirvana tutorials. Very beginner friendly. Remember, if the strumming pattern is unclear, it gives you artistic license to play it however you interpret it. If the strumming pattern isn't clear in the audio, who's to say you're playing it wrong? Feel free to ask more questions. I need feedback in order to make better tutorials for beginners.

Nice. I can do the solo an a electroacoustic guitar but my classical guitar neck is too short. I have tried Metallica's "nothing else matters" and blind guardians "bard song" as i prefer tabs to chords. But thatnks for the advice and also the video. Ita very analytic and easy to follow. For sure a subscriber from me.

That's great. Glad to hear it. I did another tutorial for this song that's much shorter and easier to follow, with on-screen tablature and less unimportant information. There's a link in the very beginning. Although the "intro riff" to "Nothing Else Matters" is very easy, the song as a whole would be pretty difficult at this stage. I want to do a tutorial for it, but the song is so complex it might take a while. My next lesson might be the Super Mario Brothers theme, or Alice In Chains' "Them Bones", but I'm dragging my feet.
