Lake Tekapo is the second-largest of three roughly parallel lakes running north-south along the northern edge of the Mackenzie Basin in the South Island of New Zealand. Lake Tekapo is known for its exceptionally clear water, which is a result of the finely ground rock particles, known as glacial flour or rock flour, suspended in the water. Lake Tekapo is also known for its stunning seasonal display of Lupin that bloom along its shores from around Mid November until the end of December.
