Got a few electric lights and they do not omit a light as reliable or soothing as a propane lantern. Can’t beat them

doesnt that give off carbon monoxide or something? isnt that dangerous?

CO is rarely a problem with a lantern in good repair. Also, they're meant for outdoor use, not enclosed areas. CO detectors are commercially available for extra peace of mind.

1:58 You're coming in too perpendicular to the wood with your machete cuts. Better to stand the piece of wood up, then come down at the wood with a 45° angle chop. Then just work your way around the branch with single, 45° chops until it breaks in the center. Same technique for khukuris and tomahawks. Also, bad safety for your support hand. That machete glances in any way it may go right into your hand. I made the same mistake with a large knife years back and almost completely severed my left index finger. I was watching some mountain folks process wood about that size in Nepal with their sickles and khukuris and thats when I saw them just stand the piece up and attack it that way...then I was like "oh yeah", duh. Lol And it glances for any reason, it'll just follow the wood into the ground instead of into your support hand.

I been using that machete for 35 years (since I was 10). Still got all my body parts & can cut firewood faster than most people...

@@creekwatercody4856 I'm not saying you can't cut firewood. I'm just saying I'd rather cut the wood quickly than hack at the same spot all day long without getting anywhere... 😁 I'm just offering constructive criticism, man. You do you. 👍

All good but the process for mantles is to tie them on and then light them and burn them before turning on the gas. Once they burn on their own, then they are ready for propane.

Just bought one of these last week at a pawn shop. I got it out to my campsite and changed the wicks like you showed and connected my propane. Then I couldn’t figure out how to light it safely, there were no directions so I had to depend on my two LED lanterns. One burned out after only an hour. The hank you so very much!

Hey Cody, not sure what “fatwood” you have but normally fatwood is HARD not soft. The pine sap over the many years becomes hard as a rock. Maybe the punk wood around the fatwood resin is soft but normally you cut that off. Leaving behind orange veins or sections as the resin displaces the wood. Think of if like amber. I have cut thin pieces and you can see through it in the sun. When fatwood is on fire you should see black smoke and the sap boiling off with the flame. Should produce a hot intense flame. The wood you had if it did have resin veins it was at the barley there level. I say all this only to help someone new to fatwood.
