Well, it's been almost three years since fear enveloped the Country and strangled the Church via a virus. This seems to have prompted "Us vs. Them - Mask vs. No Mask." Maybe one more message will be forthcoming. How about "Wrong vs. Right." In the end, what was discovered that has been the incorrect and damaging politically driven medical strategies embraced by many in America and compliantly allowed by a number of emotionally-driven fearful Christians? Transmission of the disease-wrong Asymptomatic impact on transmission-wrong PCR testing-wrong Fatality rate-wrong Lockdowns-wrong School closures-wrong Quarantining healthy people-wrong Impact on youth-wrong Hospital overload-wrong Plexiglass barriers-wrong Social distancing-wrong Outdoor spread-wrong Masks-wrong Variant impact-wrong Vaccine efficacy-wrong [Hart, Justin. Gone Viral: How Covid Drove the World Insane (pp. 156-157). Regnery Publishing. Kindle Edition] It might be less disingenuous, as well as closer to the biblical pattern of teaching, when comparing different perspectives of the same subject, say COVID or masks, when these perspectives are based on an "apple- to-apple" comparison instead of "stacking the deck" with an apple-to-orange contrast. Is it fair and appropriate to engage the views of a medical doctor ("fellow follower of Jesus and faithful church attender") with the views of a political opinion writer ("describes himself as a Christian challenging the left's twisted view") about a medical issue? The bulk of the time in promoting the wearing of a mask seemed to have been achieved by lengthy sullied remarks aimed at the political pundit's position. How about doctor to doctor instead of physician to journalist. If it had been another doctor, the big idea might have been much different and reached much sooner. It didn't appear there was much, if any, effort in finding another medical doctor's opinion about the health strategy of a mask, regardless of if he/she is clearly a "fellow follower of Jesus" or merely "describes himself as a Christian." If a fair comparison can't be made (apple-to-apple), perhaps it shouldn't be made at all, certainly publicly. Why pattern one's New Testament teaching after the secular media or elected elites - unfair and out of context. Indeed, if an apple-to-apple comparison were to have been presented, perhaps the end result might have been similar to Rabbi Paul's conclusion: "Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be spoke of as evil." This just might apply to the non-moral issue wearing or not wearing a mask. It might pertain to vaccinations. Or it might even extend to meat sacrificed to idols. Maybe in the end it might have been, "Carry your faith-based freedom not your emotion-driven fear." By the way, governments don't ask people to do anything (like paying your taxes or not selling illegal drugs). They mandate compliance through the use of force. Some would call that enforcing the law.
