What is back pressure and how can I improve that? Why are my vocal sounds so muffled? How do I make my didge's mouthpiece hole smaller? My lip start bleeding when I play. Play from the side or the front? Just learning and can't get a drone going, is there anything that ca n get me going/droning?

    Hi, did you harvest the flower stalk when it was still fresh or you cut it when still green? I have one in my garden too but not sure if I should wait until it dies off

    I found making my didges that using tape it looks to nice. Had more luck with simply freehand painting everything. Rings looked nicer beeing painted without the use of tape especially wood that had branches. Diges been around for many thousands of years. The people claim much over 40K years.

    Hi Edward, I'm writing from Brazil. I've watched all of your videos on how to make a didgeridoo from agave. I found a really large trunk, 106 inches long, and I'm following your steps to make my first didgeridoo. My main question now is how to cut the agave trunk to the correct length. I know that the length determines the note, and the wide end determines the pitch, whether it's low or high. I'd like your recommendations on the length for each note, and also whether I should keep the wide end or discard most of it. Thank you, Rubens Sakay from Brazil

    In a serendipitous moment I discovered as a fairly new didge player that I have a fallen agave flower stalk right in my yard! I believe it's also been there for at least a year, if not more. I just realized it would be the perfect project. I restore furniture as well so it's definitely going to be a growth and learning experience, but so glad I found your work.

    If you want to start practicing before investing in an expensive didge get a 1-1/4 X 5ft PvC pipe $4.30 from Lowe's Store, Wall tack for $3.00 Walmart and Duck Tape $2.75 and a wide soda bottle. Put the tack around the rim of one of the ends of the pipe then in strips cover the tack so it's not sticking to your lips. Then cut the bottom of the bottle off and secure it with tape at the other end (paint if you want). I found this cheap and a good way to practice... I find pushing your lips toward the top of the mouth piece when trying to find the "drum" sound it helps. This is day 2 of learning for me and I'm learning circular breathing... Hope my tips helped someone. GL everyone

    I am having trouble with the circular breathing,any tips??? I make dig's from alluminium btw,your mouthpiece tip was good,mine was to small,so i got my knife and made it bigger and ,hey ho better resonance! Back pressure,but when i try to circular breath i still get a break and lose it,the reverb that is. I subbed and liked!! I also play from the side or just of centre,just tried playing straight on and its like i am a complete noob at it.

      The trick is to be able to produce a drone first that is strong and steady volume. Then try produce the drone with the air stored in your cheeks only, not by exhaling. Try to make the sound as long as possible with the air stored in your cheeks. Now comes the moment when you slowly (!) inhale at the same time that you produce the drone with your stored air in you cheeks! Once you can do that, you have arrived!

    Love the video! I'm excited to make one. I'm so have a question. What is the best way to dry the flower stalk?

    • @xindronesdidgeridoos
      @xindronesdidgeridoos 7 лет назад

      Glad you liked the video and got inspired enough to want to make your own agave didge! Just select a naturally dried stalk, one where the plant itself is all dried out. Otherwise let the stalk sit in a sheltered place for about six month or until dried out, the stalk s.b. very lite weight due to the loss of moisture. Good luck.

    Another Fantastic video series! What i like about your videos is that you go slow, take your time and film everything, and the best part is that you think out loud as you work. i did not know you could apply empxy with the didge vertical, i always though that would leave resin drip marks on the bottom.

    • @xindronesdidgeridoos
      @xindronesdidgeridoos 5 лет назад

      Thanks for your kind comments. Yes the resin does drip to the end and needs to be sanded off. This also bothered me so later on on another didge in the making I rigged up a contraption using my BBQ spit motor (!!!) to rotate the didge in a horizontal position as the epoxy cures. Worked out very well! I made a video of the setup, but have not posted it yet.

    Hi Edward,I'am writing from Barcelona (Spain), first of all, congratulations for your videos, they are very clears.My English is very elemental and I don't understand what kind of wood you used. Could you tell me what tree are you used?Thank you very munch.Toni

    • @xindronesdidgeridoos
      @xindronesdidgeridoos 7 лет назад

      Hi AntoniIn my opinion any wood type will do, whatever is available. The sound is more affected by the bore shape and surface texture . Also sealing of the bore, using epoxy, molten beeswax or other suitable substances. Note that unsealed bores like most aboriginal didges have, start sounding better after you play it for a while due to the moister from your breath penetrating the wood and creating a temporary seal!
