Acro paragliding tutorial - how to escape riser twists
Просмотров 4,2 тыс.Год назад
One of the most dreaded malfunctions in paragliding is getting into riser twists, and for good reason. It's very easy to end up hopelessly twisted and has been the source of many reserve throws, a good portion of which I have added to personally. I've learned a lot of lessons on dealing with riser twists the hard way, so you don't have to. In this video I cover different strategies to escape fr...

Acro paragliding tutorial - Twister

    Amazing video. Took allot from it. I do have one complaint tho. The main reason you would do a backlfy is to resolve a cravat(fabric stuck). I'd like to see a good pilot do this in some future video.

    • @7up-weee
      @7up-weee 3 месяца назад

      Jocky does it in Security in Flight II. He has a stubborn one and decides to stall it out. Rarely needed though - has to be a huge cravat to need to stall it. The point in stall and back fly (for me) is to understand it and to not be afraid of it (in case you need to use a lot of brake in some situations), not to ever really need it (unless you do acro). Check out Kris's podcast with Ari in the Air about stalls. It's huge fun to practice stalls and gives you loads of confidence.

    Hi Chris. Thanks a lot for the tutorial. Would a propre looping work with a B wing like the Epic? Do I have enough energy for the loop? thanks Michi

    • @krisholub8959
      @krisholub8959 4 месяца назад

      Yes absolutely you can loop on a low b like an epic. You may be limited on how high of an angle you can achieve and not pass directly over the glider, but the mechanics are the same

    What would happen if one of the strings going to one of the handles broke?

    • @TheGrundigg
      @TheGrundigg 8 месяцев назад

      Probably some difficult exit from the heli since you lost brake control but if it manages to open up properly after that you can still steer using the weight shift and C risers (the last set of multiple lines). If it goes wrong and he has no control, he would throw his reserve parachute and land safely on the beach or the water.

      For sure if you are low, or the glider is starting to auto rotate, or if you don't have substantial experience with spins and stalls then the rescue is the best option. But the target audience for this video are acro pilots who may get into twists more frequently. If you are high and stable and have stall skills, it's worthwhile to attempt to fix the twists, both to avoid the hassle of a reserve deployment and to gain those recovery skills.
