My second cataract surgery was done with ultrasound (not at StahlVision). Results were 20/40, not 20/25 as I had been told the surgeon was shooting for. Several months afterwards, I developed a tear in my macula. Could the ultrasound surgery contributed to the macula tear? I had no problems with my first cataract surgery which was done in what I call the traditional way. Just curious.

He ignores ALL potential complications of LASIK except for one, microbial keratitis. And he makes false assumptions in his analysis, such as LASIK having a one-time risk of microbial keratitis -- I have found studies showing that having a LASIK flap increases the risk of microbial keratitis. Moreover, most cases of contact lens-related microbial keratitis are due to abuse, such as sleeping in the lenses and not following safe cleaning, storage, and handling instructions. In the contact lens analysis, the authors included soft extended-wear contact lenses, which carry MUCH higher risk of infection (e.g., microbial keratitis) than daily wear soft lenses. This study is pure JUNK SCIENCE, intended to scare people who wear contacts into having LASIK.
