Q-see Connector Problem Repair for BNC Security Cameras
Thank you for this Video!! It literally safed my Setup and me from going crazy and send the presonus back 😅😅. Thx so much, great explanation!! ❤️👍
I'm so glad to hear that it helped you! Thank you for letting me know!
Really nice!!!!!! Loved it!
Hello I need some help I've been struggling to connect my iPad universal control for a while now and there's been no headway I've updated all the firmware and they the same yet I'm unable to the Mac is connected and functional but the Ipad even after scanning it fails to find the mixer to connect please help the mixer is a studiolive 64S Thank you.
I cut the white hair made my own connection because it comes our problem when you trying to take it or lose
I may be prejudice, but I loved it!
Thanks for the help, one small tweak on the ground connector done the trick
Wonderful!
How do you so easily pull them apart? I have one that will not budge. Not making sense to me at all.
Hi Alan, My 1st question.. is this at the Camera end, or the DVR end? Do you have any trouble disconnecting the others?
Worst video that's not explaining anything
Well, THAT's not what my intention was... First, I want to Present what I wrote as my introduction to the Video, in case you didn't read it... This Video is to show you how to setup the new Presonus Studio line of Audio Interfaces using only the Universal Control. This should apply to ALL DAWs. PLEASE, WATCH TO AT LEAST 2:23.. The units come out of the box in an unusable configuration if you're purchasing it for any other reason than a MONO live mixer. This video will show you how to customize the configuration for setup in your studio. Written Instructions are included, as well. BTW this unit's sound has the WOW factor! Next, If you haven't done so, I think you should watch the video , again to see if you pick up any additional knowledge. And, lastly.. other than what I just wrote, I can't help you if you aren't going to ask me any questions. What you wrote is not constructive in any way. Maybe this isn't the interface for you.
hi : our summers just finished and i have nearly all 7 channals flickering and or braking up. i can put 1 channal into the dvr and i can get it to go, but if i try to connect more, they will show a stable pic for a while but if i put too many or reboot they all all go back to flickering and colors all over the place. its been running good for 3 years, i will try this tommorow .. thanks
Sounds like you need to replace the power supply that is connected to the DVR. But it could be the power supply that's connected to the cameras if they're all sharing the same one.
@@rchaisse YES it was the power supply going to the splitters/cameras .. many thanks 🙂
@@marsbar1965 Good to hear! Thanks for letting me know!
I just watched this BnC fix-it video, went outside to bend the ground on my Camera's BnC Connector like he did, and it WORKED! I was about to replace the whole 30 foot cable. Thanks for posting this.
Cool thx a lot 😊
Thanks. This will work.
do not buy q-see, junk,
It was 'Okay' in the beginning compared to what else was out there. Anyway, they are no longer in business as of 01/31/21
I am confused on WHY all these faders should be down? I assume you left Mic 7 on your Main Mix Tab at 0.0 because you are using that mic to do you voice over here? And all the others go down because they aren't used? What if you use multiple inputs at different times? Should you be pulling them down when not in use and bringing them up to 0.0 only when you are using them? And what exactly are the DAW channels for? I've always used 1&2 linked for my main out. But what are you using DAW 3 for? And why not use the other DAW channels? If Universal Control is not set up correctly, with the right faders being up or down, does that harm the quality of the recordings/mix? I do not have an outboard mixer. Do I need to know all this if I'm relying entirely on a DAW to mix?
Hi Mr. Galaxy Devourer.. Sorry for the late reply. I just saw this tonight. The reason I pull down all of the unused faders is because if there is any audio coming into those channels, they will appear on the Main Outputs. It can really throw things off if you unknowingly have sound coming through. DAW channels are the Output channels FROM your DAW, in your case the Stereo output from your DAW. My DAW 3 is a Mono Output from the DAW that I set up to assign to an external Effect box, and then Bring it back into the DAW on Channel 7. If you don't have a Mixing board, you shouldn't have a problem. Since your coming on 1/ 2, I assume you have your outputs hooked up to external powered speakers. I would still pull down any faders you're not using, until you need them. just in case..
Hi Rich, do you Know if this interface has a template with graphic ecualizer. Thanks
It Does not. It is a Mixer that routes signals.
Love listening to this song.
Thank you for your tip! It worked exactly like you said!!
Good day sir, i know this video is 9 years old but do you know if this security systems still works? I read this company shut down and discontinued their apps
Yes, there are still some out there. There are still manuals available and remote access APPs for QT & QC models. If you're thinking about buying a used one, make sure it has a good return policy. There are people out there that won't test the equipment they sell and a lot of it is unusable junk.
sorry, if i want to hear flat input audio, isnt there a mix knob to decide the input/output ratio? thanks
I'm not sure what you mean by 'flat'. Flat usually refers to the frequency response level being equal across the entire spectrum, 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. If you mean the Input being the same level as the output and that level being controled by a volume knob, then my comment about my calibration knob being set at 2:45 would refer to that. The way audio amplifiers work is that equal gain is present at 77.7% of the amplifier's potential (full) volume. Everything above that level ( such as transient spikes) are exaggerated. This is why I set my amplifier knobs near the '3', if you're looking at an analog clock. Just an added note here.. I have proven this many times by listening to an audio source, with one ear, on headphones. Then, with my pre-amp, or mixer set at unity gain I adjust the Speaker amplifier's volume control until I hear that same roundness and dynamics shaping that I heard in the Headphone. Bingo! 77.7% of the volume control. If you do this, there should never be sound coming through the speakers when listening to the headphones. Hope this answers your question.
Thank you for showing me this fix. It helped resolve my long time issue.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
So glad I could help!
My Lorex system has been driving me nuts past few months, was about to throw it out the window until I watched this.
So glad to hear that it helped !
Well, technically this helped even if what I was aiming to do was different. I needed the 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8 outputs on my Studio 1824c to not all be putting out the same two channels. I wasn't familiar AT ALL with Universal Control. Understanding the mix tabs on the right helped steer me in the right direction..
Your video inspired me to try something slightly different. Instead of bending anything I used a tiny bit of carbon conductive grease on the neutral to bridge the connection. It worked. You were right about loose connections. Carbon conductive grease is a special black grease that conducts electricity. Just use a small bit and make sure you don't get it between the neutral and center positive contacts.
I like the idea of BOTH : )
9:46 Actually Waves Audio has a plugin version of the Aphex Exciter for quite some time already.
Hi Sheldon, I purchased their plugin some time ago. Unfortunately, it doesn't compare with the real thing. One of many reasons I will no longer purchase anything from Waves.
@@rchaisse I see. By the way, very nice Universal Control tutorial here. From my understanding, it seems it is possible to route any combination of direct inputs and DAW outputs to any Mix outputs within UC. Am I correct? Thanks.
@@SheldonTam Truthfully, it's been so long since I posted that, I'm not sure. You should experiment with it. Review the video and make note of anything that may apply to what you want to achieve.
Would you have any idea how to wire a external alarm off a camera to alert u of motion ?
Not off the top of my head : ) If you give me the name & Model# I'll take a look..
Very good but my problem is disconnecting them. I have to twist anticlock then use a screwdriver to twist them off. This problem came with my DVR as they cannot be pulled off. Thank you for a solution I may need in the future.
I use long-nosed pliers for that. much easier.
Would a short spray of silicone spay also help?
It would not help a loose connection. And, it's not designed to improve conductivity. If you want 'contact' spray I would recommend DeoxIT 5% Spray Contact Cleaner, 5 oz. not cheap. $15 - $20, but it's the best IMO.
@@rchaisse Thanks for the tip mate. I am about to install this system next week. Do you think its a good idea to spray joins before connecting... just in case?
@@strikemaster1 not really. If these connections will be outside or in a moist environment I would suggest you to wrap the connection with 3M Rubber Splicing Tape. Then wrap it with a good quality vinyl tape to keep the rubber tape in place. Wrap from the edge of the connector, out an inch or two, then back to an inch or two past the other end of the connector, then back a ways. Do that with both tapes. This should make it last a long time.
@@rchaisse Got it... thanks mate 🙂
Hi again Rick. One final question. When you talk about the "Mixing Board" am I correct in assuming you are talking about an external analogue mixing board or the Mixing Board contained within Universal control . If it is an external mixing board perhaps you could explain the necessity for such an item rather than a direct physical connection to the hardware inputs and outputs of the 1810C.
You are correct. I am talking about an external Mixer. I realize that there are a lot of people that don't have mixing boards. They may use a laptop and plug a mic or instrument into an Audio interface such as the 1810c. Even if they don't have an external Mixer, this unit should do the job, The necessity of a Mixing board comes from when you want to expand your capabilities. My use comes from having a recording studio which provides inputs for Drums, Vocals & instruments to be recorded at once. It also provides for multiple headphone mixes. Also, I can playback audio from many sources without having to re-patch a bunch of cords. When you add a Mixer, you're potentially adding significant cost. Even more so if you're adding external speakers & amplifiers and microphones ext. i.e. it costs more, but you can do more. Also prepare yourself for a lot of technical training that's required. I hope this helps.
@@rchaisse Thanks again Rick. That makes everything so clear. I have older hardware because I used to only use midi hardware modules connected to my analogue mixer and jam along with the midi files singing and playing mainly acoustic guitar so now I'm building a hybrid setup using the 1824C audio interface and your video is exactly what I needed to understand the Universal Control PDF manual which is lacking in demonstrating practical applications. However, sometimes the manufacturers assume they are dealing with audio professionals rather than hobbyists like myself with more money to spend in my dotage with the kids all gone. Keep up the great work Rick.
Sorry about the misspelling on the first comment Rick.
Hi Rich. Finally a great tutorial on how to utilise the UC software in a real practical way. I had been trying to simply send recorded audio tracks from Studio one 5 Pro out through the 8 analogue hardware outputs on my Studio 192 interface to the 8 line/ track inputs on my old Mackie 1604 VLZ3 analogue mixer in order to do some mixing with my old hardware units similar to yourself .I have an old Behringer Ultra FXII exciter and Alesis 3630 compressor connected permanently to the main inserts on the Mackie but now I have more options thanks to your brilliant tutorial. Great video Rick and thank you so much.
Great video! Short, concise and to the point.
Hi! Very silly thing. Recently put up 4 cameras, and realized one camera wire been put up wrong way. Now do I have to rewire or is the any way to get some sort of converter to save the hassle.
Silly? Yeah.. I've done the same thing! It is probably easier to change out the cable, as you would need (4) adapters to make it work. The BNC adapters are available but I'm not sure of the Power adapters. Here's my question.. how is the cable run? is it loose through an attic or crawl space? is it secured against the walls? If it's loose, you can simply take another camera cable and use the existing one to pull the new one to the camera or DVR location. Of course, be sure the new one is facing the right way this time. If you don't have another cable available, you can use a strong pull-string or wire. Either way, be sure you wrap tape around the connection point in a way that the connection won't get caught on anything while you're pulling the new cable to the final location. BTW, if you have to use pull-string, the length needs to be at least twice as long as the distance to the location you'll be pulling to. That way, when you have the original cable in hand, you can take it to the starting point, tie it on to the string ( the correct end towards the camera) and pull it through a second time. TIP: it helps if you have a second person helping you. One to pull and one to feed it . Hope this helps!
@@rchaisse thanks a million for your quick response. Cable is run inside the wall. So was thinking maybe easier to use some sort of converter or adapter to the camera connection and one in the DVR box. Once again, thanks a lot.
@@mustafaiqbal2255 You might want to consider pulling the cable out with a string, like I had suggested. The wall is probably open and if you ran it from the attic down, it may be an easy fix.
@@rchaisse thanks again, I've tried already but seems stock somewhere. Not moving at all. And bought few male to female and female to male adapter, but no video. When I open the app, it shows 4 camera but only 3 has video. Sorry for all this sort of silly things. As I'm not a tech person. And thought when I put it up I did great job. Actually when I did the wiring, whole house was going under full renovation. So after I pulled the wire, builders putup insulation, plasterboard and all sorts. Now fill like a total idiot, that never check in first. :(.
@@mustafaiqbal2255 Please.. DON''T feel like an idiot. Unless you've done this sort of installation before, there's no way you can think of everything. You can only learn some things by experience. This type of work is complicated and it's easy to make mistakes. I've been doing this for a LONG time and I still make mistakes. Best anyone can do is to double-check your work so you can discover problems before they end up causing more problems later.
Good...
maybe windows xp is too old for us in elecbee. i think it's really helpful for me and i will recommend this video to my friends.thanks!
Very helpful instructions. I saved Rs.650/- plus the technician's connector. I feel good I was able to fix with your video
I was having the same problem with my camera, till I watched your video. Thanks for the info.
We bought a used Q-see to use with our security cameras. Someone started set up and put in a pass word so now we can’t get past that. Can you give us a solution?
This is actually a pretty complex process. And, if I give you the answer here, I would be exposing it to potential criminal activity. I'm not sure how to proceed here. If you feel comfortable giving me your email address then maybe we could correspond. Other than that, I would call around to local surveillance installers and see if they could help you directly.
@@rchaisse I think my husband has given up. The guy we bought it from was given it to sell and use the money for missions at his church, so we will just call it a 100.00 donation from us for Gods work. Thank you for your response.

rad video mate.
Thank you. Much appreciated!
Fantastic!!!. your advise make me to do it very easy. Thank you
Rick you still got it!
Hi Tianna, just saw this for the 1st time! Thanks!! Hope you're well!
Have you had any joy getting the external fx working as a external fx plugin in Cubase with send and return built in?
Interesting Question... I'll look into that as soon as I can. Might be a day or 2. If I can assign an FX channel to the channel 3 output, that would be a start. The other part would be getting the return assigned to a Mixer Channel.
@@rchaisse I came across your video because I was having issues with an external fx unit and using the 1810c. Turns out my issue was dodgy cables. I would highly recommend getting familiar with the External FX tab found on the audio connection screen, will save you having to manualy create sends and returns. Using the External FX tab you can easily configure a send and return using the 1810c as your device and then apply it to any insert from the External Plugin category, like any other effect. Remember to bounce in real time for rendering. Hope this helps!
@@calumyuill Thank you for all the information. Where is this External FX tab? On the Universal control screen for the 1810c?
@@rchaisse you're totally welcome! It's a tab on the audio connection menu in cubase, the only thing you'll need to do is mute the channel that is being used for the signal in universal control :)
just to clarify, this is in Cubase DAW, go to studio menu at top and then select Audio Connections, then select External FX tab, create a new external fx by selecting Add External FX, name it and configure send / return channels. Apply it to any channel like any other insert fx, you will find it listed with the name you gave it under a category of plugin called External Plugins
I just got around to going step by step check of my dead camera, I was ready to replace the camera and cable. I had already bought new cameras and cables, but decided to check out the contact that the connections were making!!!. Walls!!! Working like new. And I have a spare cameras and cable. Thank you very much! Next time I have a problem I will go to RUclips, take advice and do test, then buy. Think I will add another camera to my system.
How to you shorten the pre made camera cords
Hi Jon, Are you wanting to shorten the cable because there is a problem with the cable, or is it because it's just too long? If it's too long, you can buy a 15' or 25' that would not cost much. Or, simply roll it up the existing cable and hide the excess. Otherwise, you could cut out a section of the cable and splice the remaining ends together. If the end is defective, the pre-made cables are not going to allow you to replace the ends. If that's the case, do you have a spare cable? If so, I would cut a few feet from the end of the new one, cut off a foot or two from the end of the defective one, and splice the wires. Soldering is the best method, but you could get away with twisting the wires and taping them. I looked for a video to help you with this, couldn't find one. Let me know if you need any more assistance and I'll try to help you further..
Thank you so much! Even tho this didn't completely helped me with my issue, it's helped me a lot to understand how the software works! ❤️
Glad it helped!
Thank you Rick Chaisse! This should have been part of the purchase! Mucho Helpfull
Appreciate your comment !!
Does this unit have loop back? Also, I had music playing from an extrernal source on 5/6. I muted them, and then went on a zoom call. Everyone could hear the music! What?! How and why?
This is a difficult question to answer without more detailed information. My initial response would be to pull the faders down, rather than mute them. I don't know if your connected to your DAW, and if so, do you have the external source plugged into 5/6 on the 1810c? I suggest you review the video several times. The answer is in there. If you don't find it, please write back with details of what's connected to what, and I'll try to help you further.
@@rchaisse Confirmed it does not have loop back on map. Couldn't figure out issue with the channels not muting. It's gone, returned. Thanks!
