Great video
After hearing your story, your success is well earned and deserved. Keep making an impact. Congratulations on an excellent interview!
Congratulations, Dr. Elliston Rahming. God bless you.
Gramps!!!!!
an aerial view on a map of the wall wouldve been perfect to get an idea of where it started and stopped
I lived on the west side of this wall on Lifebouy Street which is now "Chippy" Chipman Street. I would walk along this wall to get to the laundromat which was on the Gibbs corner and through the wall to get to school at DW Davis. Growing up I had heard about the racism which was associated with the wall construction and even in the early eighties it was clear the economic difference on each side of the wall . I remember the homes along collins ave, I would pass them on my short cut home, these homes had roses blooming in the front yards. I would stop to smell them being careful never to pick them. The always smelt wonderful. While my side of the wall may not have been considered wealthy, I only recall happy childhood memories of going to the pump to collect water and shooting marbles in the dirt and all the trappings of childhood in the summer ....fruit trees, baggies, cup, fresh bread ...oh the good ole days 🤣
Enid is a seamstress by profession. About two of her daughters were also seamstress. Enid and my dad were first cousins.

Love you sooo much ❤ 💖 💓 😘
Thank you so much for this series! I so miss the character of the family islands the mailboats serve. This is Sid...worked for M. Oakes years ago everywhere! God bless you!
ah this is great. might be there in a few weeks for work. hoping i’ll be able to pop in here.
This is propaganda. Every Bahamian knows the truth of the wall. Collins cared so much about black people he payed them pennies to build a wall to protect nothing? Only a fool would make sense out of that. Even so why wasnt there a wall on the other side?
I too have in my garden
My Grammy Beatty was also a seamstress. She raised her children on the business. She taught her daughters to sew. Bahamian women back then were fierce and very self sufficient. God bless, Ms. Lockhart.🙏🏾
You really feel this is something to feature 😅😅😅
Thanks very much to Barbara Gibson-Wilson for producing this and other videos for posterity. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.
I thoroughly enjoyed the interview.
Thank you.
I regard Rosemary as a role model, her zest for life and community spirit are motivational and remind me of the values that we seem to have forgotten. ❤
Thank you Heather.
My dear mentor, Rosemary . Great interview. Good memories. 🎉❤
Thank you Cindy
Thanks very much for another presentation on the history of the country. The original Hanna Family is from New Providence. I was given a Family Tree by Garvin Tynes, as, we are descendants of the original John Hanna who came to the Bahamas in the late 1700's.
Thank you.
When societies are homogeneous, things are better, as long as the numbers of persons from other societies coming here remain small.
Awesome video!!!
Thank you.
@@025aurelia 👍
100 where... Mama Lockhart is gorgeous. God bless her!!!
😂🎉
Awesome story. Long live Mr. Wilson
Awesome! I remember the story about the Collins Wall and the ladders on either side of the wall which was in front of my aunt Mary and Earnal Braynen's house!.Its amazing how the history of the Wall has EVOLVED!
What is she mixed with?
What’s that lady information?
Omg I’m related to her!! My people in the Bahamas are last name woods
Good morning, Ms. Barbara. Thank you very much for featuring the life of Vince Fountain, with whom I am acquainted. His uncle, Cyril Fountain, married my cousin, and friend, Alicia Hanna Fountain. Thank you for encouraging people to find out about the members of their families, and, information on their histories. I have been doing the same. I am a firm believer in the saying of the Hon. Marcus Mosiah Garvey, "A People without the knowledge of their past history, origin, and culture, is like a tree without roots.". Keep up the good work!
Niceeeeeee! I enjoyed it almost felt like I lived it with her. ❤😊
I was blessed with the privilege to travel to Nassau Bahamas thru the years. Mr. Stubbs nterview is very interesting as he sounds like a man who loves all genres of music. Hope to drop by one day and I'm still in love with the people and music of Nassau Bahamas. God bless you and the Bahamas Mr. Stubbs.
Update: 9/30/21, Relatives aren’t always exactly who you think that they were/are, a lot of things were happening back before the 1940s that many won’t talk about. It’s good to dig in your family history, search for old photos, but keep your mouth shut like an detective, don’t let them know what you are thinking 💭🤔 , noticing when you are investigating relatives and discovering secrets/things; sounds like secrets up in your family tree, you, your parents or grands and others could be orphans and they aren’t telling you beans, they are just keeping their mouths shut, keeping secrets and keeping their distance. Share with the congregation, or post on Facebook or send in messenger, somebody needs to research/dig in their Family History...
