[Better Audio] Heartaches - Chester Leighton & His Sophomores (1931)
For this channel's 2nd anniversary (November 29, 2022), I decided to re-record my most popular record in better sound quality with some pops and clicks removed. I plan on keeping the original videos public, but I wanted to post my newly recorded version since the older uploads had poor audio quality.
Thanks to @fromthesidelines, @BlackPatti78s, and @mickeyclark5315 on the original upload, I now know that the "Chester Leighton" band is "Sam Lanin's Famous Singers and Players" under a different name. This version of "Heartaches" was also released on Harmony 1279-H and Velvet Tone 2309-V. The vocalist is Paul Small (credited as "Chester Leighton" on the label).

Love In My Heart - Al Lentz & His Orchestra (1930)

Al Lentz & His Orchestra perform the very obscure song "Love In My Heart" by Redmond Farrar. This song is an enigma; for the life of me, I can't find any sheet music with lyrics. The most I was able to find was a recording of Harold "Scrappy" Lambert performing the song under the alias of "Larry Holton". You can find that version on the Internet Archive (in a collection that contains as many of...

Vincent Lopez & His Orchestra perform the 1929 song "Happy Days Are Here Again" (which later on became the "theme" of FDR's political campaign during the Great Depression). This is a worn record on both sides, so I apologize for the poorer-than-usual audio quality. There are a few other uploads of this on RUclips, so you'll hear some better transfers of this I'm sure; I mainly uploaded this so ...

I knew nothing about Cy, but reading up on him on Wikipedia revealed that he was pretty prolific for the time he performed to the point he was called the "Art Tatum of Park Avenue" by Metronome magazine in 1946. He was a pretty interesting guy, though unfortunately, he died when ...

Waring's Pennsylvanians perform the song "The Dance Of The Blue Danube" with Tom Waring singing. I'm not sure who came up with the idea to "jazz-ify" Johann Strauss' Blue Danube Waltz, but whoever it was must have been onto something because this is a lovely tune! Something I noticed is that between 3:00 and 3:03, there seems to be a stray strum of what I can only assume to be an upright bass. It's a little difficult to make out, but that is quite an interesting blunder if that's what the sound is. There also seems to be some high-pitched squealing beginning around the 2:00 mark and ending at 3:03. I believe that is due to the way the record was pressed, though I am not completely sure as to how this could've happened.
