This video is NOT an accurate representation of what Olongapo is or was. This video concentrates mainly on the "Freeport Zone" and not Olongapo proper. Showed a few choice developed parts of Olongapo but not what the city is as a whole. Go down Hansen street a while where all the Sari Sari stores are and the undeveloped areas. Not a fair representation at all.
hahaha I'm sorry if this video bothers you a lot... this was posted 7 years ago for our political science subject. we were assigned to make a video promoting olongapo city. if you think that this video does not depict the right image of olongapo city maybe it's a hint for people there to inspire them in making their city a better place not just for tourism but for a better living. thank you for your comment :) well appreciated!
I was first there in November, 1974 when I was on the USS Blue Ridge LCC-19 on my very first Westpac. I had duty that Monday, November 25, 1974. The next afternoon, Tuesday, November 26th was my very. First liberty there. I was there at Subic Bay 5 times during my very first Westpac. I met my late wife on Janauary 16, 1975. In November, 1978 I got stationed at SRF Subic Bay, from November 20, 1978 to March 30, 1981. That was the best duty I had in the U.S.Navy. April 5, 1979 my late wife & I got Married, we were married at City Hall by the Honorable Jose L. Uy City Judge. There is just so much I can tell of my time in Olongapo City. Within the next 3 to 4 years, I'm planning to return home to the Philippines which is my second country for good & live out my life there as my heart is there.

yeah I would bet human/animal waste would be a problem. Not to mention high water from the rainy season. It would rain and flood then minutes the sun would be out.I remember the water was a murky brown color. Doubt the sewer systems are like here in the states.

i was there a week ago and no the river does not smell like shit but it does still look as tho it is still poluted pretty bad no swimmers and no fishing ..
that river that was just outside the fenceline of Subic Bay Naval Base. I love my time there and would love to go back. Major props to the cleaning up of the city!
