wood spam for 93 minutes
Me and the Masterman were memeing in forts and i for some reason wanted to see how long i could last. Answer 93 minutes, that is if I intentionally over build to see when I would collapse.

storage and update

Progress has been slow with work picking up but I finally have a small update! One of the last parts of this project is ready to be added to the cpu, storage!

JUMP IF NOT ZERO!!! The core is complete.
Просмотров 8684 месяца назад
Another update on the CPU. There are a few more things to add like cache and ram as well as IO. But that is the core done. The current clock is a bit slow at 8 ticks per clock cycle 4 on 4 off. I am hoping to get that down a bit more but think that as low as i can get it. It seemed to be having a hard time with loading the jump and would just load 0.
Its alive! Scrap Mechanic cpu V5 is up and running!

This is the same cpu as the last video but just with the logic gates laid out like a silicon die. There is a bit more work to do with adding flags to the opcode roms so thing like jump if zero works. This is just to get it all working before the main build with Djoboom.
New CPU build with my friend DjoBoom!

After 3 years of not touching a logic gate in Scrap mechanic I am back! I got the itch to build a new CPU but this time I am not going to wire a single logic gate by hand! With the help of my friend DjoBoom designing the aesthetics and my blueprint logic editor/compiler I want to make the best and fully featured CPU I have every made! My last CPU only got 2 basic jump instructions and flow cont...

8 bit pipelined CPU in Scrap Mechanic
Просмотров 3204 года назад
Over the last month I have been working on this 8 bit CPU. This is probably version 5 or 6 because all the redesigns but I now have a 3 tick clock so the clock frequency is 6.66 hertz. It has 2 8 bit buses 4 GPRs on the main bus a constant register, program counter and 2 GPRs on the memory bus. For memory it has 128 bytes of ram and 128 bytes of rom. The pipeline is incomplete but it has up to ...

    Did you used saved letters or did the CPU print it, like pixel per pixel?

    • @lnventorsteve2115
      @lnventorsteve2115 5 месяцев назад

      the letters are saved in the display like a lcd display module the cpu just sends the ascii code for the letter and the write command

    Is That real time? And how does your ALU work?

    • @lnventorsteve2115
      @lnventorsteve2115 5 месяцев назад

      Yep is real time. The ALU works over 2 clock cycles first setting the operation and pushing the 2 registers. Any register can be pushed to any side or both sides of the ALU at the rising edge. The data is sent through the bit wise logic and latched at the falling edge. In second cycle the latch is the inputs of the CLA witch adds and holds the data making it like a register that can be asserted to the 8 bit bus at the rising edge and loaded anywhere on the falling edge.

    Damn how the hell do you make it so fast? Are the characters preloaded in some way? And btw, how the hell di u make the display that large almost without lag? Does it have a framebuffer, and what is the method of storing the data?

    • @lnventorsteve2115
      @lnventorsteve2115 Год назад

      It's a 8 bit rom that holds the characters. The display is like a lcd module it holds the character and some commands like clear and next line. To right a character you just have to write the ascii to the displays address in memory.
