This is cool! I used to make basic quill pens, and I've just got some bamboo pens, but I'd love to make them from our native wildlife. Thanks for such clear instructions.
Awesome bro. Gotta get me some of that paper and a tea warmer
"Like the flight of a bee..." brilliant.
I've been studying a poem thunder: perfect mind from the nag hamadi library and I've been totally baffled examining the pen strokes which vary from thick to thin, like any flat tip nib, but don't seem to occur as the natural result of a uniform or consistent pen angle. Perhaps the scribe who copied the text was using a double tipped reed pen, following a logic that isn't clear to me at the moment. This would never have occurred to me if I hadn't watched your video. It shouldn't be hard to determine if the various lines of the letters are arbitrary or intentional by mapping out the occurrences of different widths of lines now that I'm aware it might not just be accident or chance or the amount of ink loaded in the pan at the time, etc. you have my gratitude 😇
I would show the first moments of drawing at normal speed so that you can imagine it better.
Of course, trust an Englishman to create something that is both beautiful and practical at the same time!

WOW
How is it that you taught me at school 17 years ago and you've barely aged at all?! Great video, it made me think of the nib of a fountain pen. I never would have thought of making my own reed pen!
Thanks for the kind comment.

@@ahandwithart517 this video is so beautiful . I can watch it many times
That's amazing! I'm trying to get used to charcoal and white chalk pencils but how do I keep the chalk from wiping off?
Spraying with fixative when the drawing will reduce smudging and the chalk wiping off. If you don’t have any bit do have hair spray, then that can work too.
Awesome 👌
So cool!!
Thank you, this is very helpful : )
Nice vid!

Being a jazz musician by trade, I particularly LOVED the JAZZ piano in the background! Keep up the good work! I’’m truly enjoying your approach to rendering. Thank you!
Hi I'm not really good at drawing and could you give some tips plz i really want to impress my teacher
The most important thing is to draw all the time. Keep practicing shading like in the shading video and you will automatically get better at it. One good tip when drawing things is also to always start lightly and gradually add darker tones. Don’t do hard outlines. Look at exactly what you see in front of you and not what you imagine it might look like. Use the right pencils. If you don’t have one, get a 4B or 6B to ensure you can represent the darkest tone effectively. I’m doing a series of videos on portraiture in couple of weeks which might also help. Good luck
🌞🤣🤪🌞🌞🌞🌞🤡🤡
what pencil did you use
I used a 6B fr this video. This really helped to achieve the darkest tones easier. I often start with a 4 or 2B then use 7 or even 8 at the end but for this video just the one pencil was fine.
Really Helpful Thank You!!!
Ijust have to say you deserve a lot more describers then you have
A lovely explanation.
Splendid. Thank you!
