Didn't get to see or do as much as I wanted during Anykščiai's apple festival and tourism night („OBUOLINĖS“ IR TURIZMO NAKTIS), but at least there were some short and sweet meet-ups with friends and family!

The town is nice... if you like simplicity and a relatively quiet vibe. Looks like a very nice community. Will have to add it to our wish list of places to visit and the apples from there are (were) delicious.
Baby's can't sleep in car seats? I haven't heard that ever 🤔 I was always happy when my kids slept in the car when we were going somewhere 😅
Yeah I saw a few instagram posts about it so I just wanted to put it out there in case other people had seen the videos too (because parents’ favorite activity is judging what other parents do 😂). Anyways, here is the risk: When your baby is seated, their heavy head can fall forward causing difficulty breathing…and even suffocation.
@@LithuaniaExplainedVlog Okay 🤔😅Where I live no one has ever mentioned this.. well where I live, our babies sleep outside in the cold also so it may be that this isn't the first thing to cross our mind. 😅 My children are teenagers so I don't have to think this until grandchildren 😂
looks like a place I would like to visit on my next rip to LT! Pretty awesome that you got some kudos on your, ever improving, Lithuanian skills! Greetings from the USA, and we hope to se Anyksciai next time we are in the country!

HA! I heard it too :) Gotta love our neighbors to the north :) I pick on the Canadians too much, but, in truth, I love 'em! :)

I love cool weather! No sweat, no insects, more clothing options 😅 I know it’s not what everyone prefers, but ~20 Celsius outside is perfect to me.
Love you videos, I’m moving back to Lithuania in March 2025 with 2 kids who speak no Lithuanian and British wife will be fun 😃 good work on videos and well done for embracing Lithuanian living 👍👍👍

Watching your channel and all the content about Lithuania has been very educative, it is my dream country hope one day I can visit and get to explore this baltic country 😊 Feel appreciated from Africa 😁
Even though its a small town its pretty nice.

Thank you so much, Lithuania Explained, for taking the time to come visit MY favorite, small part of Lithuania! It was great to meet you and hopefully, one day, we can meet more often (once I finally retire to LT! :) ) and have coffe and deep discusions about the Seinfeld universe! lol - Again, thanks for your hospitality and I hope everyone has a chance to visit this small slice of Lithuania!
I've never been to Lithuania but my internet spiralling is making me want to go to Vilnius/Lithuania in general. I LOVE your channel.
We flew AirBaltic from Paris to Vilnius and it was a good one. I'm from Asia and was vacationing in Lithuania. FA's could have been friendlier, that would have made a difference. 😊
Viktorija 😍😍 Congrats for making progress in learning Lithuanian 👍
as you discussed in an earlier video, the "loyalty card" is a must!! I do have to say, however, I was not prepared for how big of a pain in the butt it was to sign up for those!!!! I wasn't expecting the procedure that we encountered - to make a long story very short, my mother-in-law had all of the normal cards, but , for whatever reason, they were all "blocked" (or "don't exist) - so, we tried to sign up ... what a hassle - for the Aciu card (maxima), it was not AS bad, but they still asked for all of our 'asmens dokumentas", which, of course as a foreigner, we didn't really have (At leasn, not a Lithuanian one) - Maxima staff kinda looked at me strange, shrugged, and after I paid my 1 euro, all was good, lol, but we didn't have such luck anywhere else - that's where your hack came in handy (from previous video) - my nephews wife has all the cards digitally, so, she just screenshoted them all and sent them to us, but to give an idea of savings, at Maxima, there was some Lietuva candy that was EUR7.99 , but with the card, was only EUR3.99! I also wanted to buy a toy police car for my 3 year old nephew back in the States - at Iki, it was EUR9.99 but with the card was only EUR4.99! Big savings, but also a potential BIG hassle to get unless you either ask someone in line, or knowsomeone who has the cards and will send you a picture!
Yeah, humana and 50ct boutique are so nice
congrats on all the success! I have found your videos educational from the start, have learned MANY things I didn't know about a country that I love, and genuinely enjoy the format and structure of your vdeos! Keep up the good work, my friend! (oh, I and I have made a few new, good friends out of the channel, as well! :) )
I wish your channel was around 50 years ago when I was a young teen. I am a Grandson of the first wave to JAV and we were always taught that Lithuania was land far far away in a time long long ago. Now I'm playing catch up with everything and anything Lithuanian including the language. Sites on RUclips are the only way to do this for now. Thanks for all your posts they really help a lot.
Well said & well done!
Thank you for making miracles! Isn't it a miracle to make two lonely people meet and may be (let's pray for it) be happy? I just remembered one quote attributed to Confucius: "When two together make the same thing, it's not the same thing any more" 😊
The fact that I could be matchmaker is definitely my favorite outcome! Thanks for the beautiful quote ☺️
Your videos are pleasure to wach. If You want i can give you trip in Trakai in sailboat if You want. This month is still sunny and mild winds. Best time to take saildrive.
Thank you for the generous offer! Would you be able to connect with me through email to discuss? I’m not sure if we have time but it would be nice to connect and maybe collaborate on a video 😀
You can just borrow the loyalty card from someone at the checkout. People do this all the time when they forget to bring theirs. The cashiers don't mind at all and will even tell you to ask the person behind you.
I've said this many times over the last few years that I've watched your channel, but you are doing good work. I like that your content hasn't changed at all when it comes to the "vibe". It's not at all surprising that someone would ask for permission to use your videos for educational purposes as they are super easy to watch and well-put together while also being informative, but not TOO informative to the point where they become just dry fact-spitting type. Overall, just keep doing what you doing man. 😄 And best of luck to the couple you've brought together.
Thank you for the kind words!
happy for your success, i think we Lithuanians somehow think about ourselves as less interesting than other countries so not many people do what you do about Lithuania
You will become a "Tinder" version for Lithuania enthusiasts. If it was a real app I would call it Potato grindr.
My dog is called Puntukas 😊
Here is a story how the portraits of Lithuanian pilots Darius and Girėnas were carved on the Puntukas rock. It happened during the WW2 when Lithuania was under the German occupation. One autumn day of 1942 one man happened to hear in cafe of Anykščiai how two German officers were talking about that rock they saw and their plans to make a sort of monument commemorating Adolf Hitler. Lithuanians already had plans to commemorate Lithuanian pilots who died in a crash during their trans- Atlantic flight in 1933 by carving their portraits on that rock. So they decided to save the rock and not allow to desecrate it. In few days people managed to build a barn around the rock and when Germans searched for it they couldn't find one - the rock "disappeared". Sculptor Bronius Pundzius with the help of local assistants working under the cover of this barn in six months carved the portraits.
A Nykščiai - Thumbs😉
very cool looking town! Awesome that your lithuanian is getting to the point where you can understand what people are talking about, even it it's just "getting the jist of it" - looks like a place I would like to visit! As an "avgeek", that Darius ir Garenas monument looks cool! Not sure why it's in Anyksciai, but I'm sure there is a reason, and that's pretty cool!
Exactly 😅 wondering on that day which one to go but missed military band
Anykščiai 👍👍👍
Anykščiai is one of the nicer smaller cities/towns in Lithuania. What helps is the surrounding nature, Šventoji river, narrow gauge railway station and other points of interest for tourists. Visiting Anykščiai can be combined with Molėtai ant Aukštaitija National park since it has that Eastern Aukštaitija vibe and dialect.
Thanks for the video of Anykščiai where I grew up. Aukštaitija region is my favourite in Lithuania and talking about Anykščiai, in my opinion, the places worth visiting would be Arklio muziejus, cycle path towards Puntukas, the path along the Šventoji river, leading to Spa Vilnius, Laju takas and more depending on your preferances (canoeing, skiing in winter, rides and a maze for kids. I also love farmer shops.
You have been to quite a few places around Panevėžys, but not to the city itself yet, perhaps there aren't that many attractions for visitors but we do have some really nice parks along the entire part of river Nevėžis that goes trough the city as well as a completely reworked central square and some other great things to see! It would be really nice to see a video on Panevėžys eventually 😉
nice video about my home town :) Iam so glad to be from Anykščiai.
You pronounced the town name very correctly:) excited for you that your lithuanian understanding is improving!
there is a nice wooden fort not far from anykščiai on a historical site. also for some adrenalin there is a summer sledding complex. there was a metal festival in Anykščiai - Devil Stone :D it had some fun history behind it how local church was very angry at it for some reason :D also there is some kind of tourist trap attraction next to it - Labyrinth park.
👍
As an American musician who doesn't know the Lithuanian anthem off the top of my head and heard the comparison fresh, yes I absolutely hear the similarity, but also get why others might not. It's like the same cadence with a harmonic shift, like you said. I did marching band (civilian, because civilian/school marching bands are a huge thing in the US) for 9 years so this was awesome to see. I've always wanted to watch a military tattoo. And I have two different great-grandfathers from Vilnius which is why I'm interested in Lithuania, so I might have to catch this one in particular one year.
August 23 is Baltic Way Day, 35 Years! So that why vintage car in Vilnius there where driving to Tallin to praise Baltic Unity.
