Another rotella t6 5w-40 oil change 1999 Saab 9³
Already time for another oil change. Once again I'm running rotella t6 5w-40 with a fram ultra synthetic oil filter. This filter is a bit different this time. Normal filter called for on this car for that series of fram is xg3614. This time I used Fram ultra synthetic xg3600. The only real difference is the xg3600 is a slightly longer oil filter. I also show the damage from a recent accident. I wanted to show some before I went around to "fixing" it. Just have to hammer out or enough to get a tail light lens assembly to fit.

Paired up one of our tablets to my bluesaab to show it off. Works pretty well, but you'll have to forgive my phone switching between portrait and landscape throughout the video. Totally and utterly annoying to me, so I can only imagine all of you will feel similarly, lol. Next video I'll do better.

How to repair the rear wiper arm and motor on a 1999 Saab 9³. Grabbed the motor and arm from my 1999 9-3 SE HOT parts car. Tools needed; t25 torx 10mm socket and driver. something to push the pins on the plastic pin rivets. I used the t25 bit for the hatch ones. probably a good ideas to have a small container for the screws, and plastic pin rivets.

    Hi, came across this video. How did you make that coil resistor and what wire did you use? I’m having the same problem right now.

  • @Engineer_GM_Ford_Chrysler
    @Engineer_GM_Ford_Chrysler Год назад

    How much is a new resistor vs making one with all that copper wire? Pretty clever. Seems to be a better idea since the wire itself , as long as its covered in its plastic , won't corrode or wear out like a resistor. However, cost would factor in, so you know if its better to just buy a new resistor that will last another 10 plus years, or wire coiled up that can virtually last forever, Ect.. and the life of the car and how long you would probably keep it. I'm a fan of making parts, as long as its not going to take 5 times more labor, cost savings, life of, ect...

    When you rubbed the oil between your fingers you could tell it still had a slight gold tint. I recommend always using an oem filter. X-service writer and tec.

      It meets/exceeds all the specs your Saab auto requires. It meets more demanding (in some facets) diesel specs. The only controversial point is that it has slightly more ZDDP (anti-wear) than is currently recommended for newer oils, but most of us view that as a good thing.

    I got exposure to Shell T6 about 4 years ago, as all my friends used it in there Motorcycles. I didn't like having so many different oils in my garage, so I stopped using Mobile 1 in my 2007 Chevy HHR, and my 2005 Chevy Colorado. I never had a problem with using it. I recently read some threads on the internet, that I should not be using it in my Car Gasoline Engines. I guess the damage is done? I may switch back to Mobile 1 on my next Oil Change for the Car/Truck.

    • @stevemasterson7776
      @stevemasterson7776 6 лет назад

      K. LaBorde they make a T6 5-40 that is advertised and rated for diesel and gas. it's advertised as multi vehicle. I'll probably switch to that for my truck and bikes

      It's better than most "auto" oils. Research oil specifications and you'll be confident it's fine. It will NOT damage your engine.

    Can I make a few suggestions. use gloves when changing your oil. prime your new filter with the new oil at least 1/2 or 3/4 full also put some oil on your oil filter gasket to help it seal and then hand tighten if it's cold and windy change your oil in a garage fingers hurt less . car ramps are the safest to use. one last thing use a funnel so your oil doesn t spill on the engine or on the ground it belongs in the oil pan. Have fun. I have a 03 Dodge Dakota V6. truck has 166,000 miles. takes 4 quarts. I'm going to use the shell t6 5w40. and the same fram filter on the next oil change. Thanks for all the good information.

    you should really find out whats eating your oil. valve guides letting oil passed the valve? just saying... it seems like you check your oil though which is good since you have turbocharger. or maybe is this normal for some saabs?

    This is awesome. I'm currently trying to accomplish the same thing. Did you ever get around to making a video about dumping and flashing? I'm having some issues establishing a connection. Something with MyBooty I suspect. I read all of Sophie's documentation but how do you set up the mbed software wise? MyBooty v2 is a little tricky in that you have to modify code. Can you just use v1.1 for dumping and flashing? I'd really enjoy a video on this if at all possible

    • @saabaddictedandbroke6524
      @saabaddictedandbroke6524 7 лет назад

      +Aaron Brvenik I'll try to add a video of flashing, live tuning, and such with the just4trionic adapter when I am soonest able to. The mbed is remarkably easy to write the software to. You simply drag(like any normal File move or copy operation within windows) and drop the just4trionic binary onto the devices memory as it reads on a normal computer as a flash storage device. It's been good while since I've used mine and Sophie may have made updates to the code including the code of her bootloader, MyBooty. I don't recall having to modify the MyBooty code at all with mine. I'll have a look at the changeover of MyBooty in her GitHub and see what's up. In the mean time, did you check out my notebook section on the mbed site along with Sophie's?
