Need to drive deeper downwind. Get the pole back. Took you half a keg before you realized that.

This boat is supper slow DDW so I try to keep boat speed up by sailing higher. The sweet spot seems to be around 100 degrees apparent. I agree that the pole needs to be back more especially in light wind.

When you have lee helm and have to push the tiller away that much, keep the main trimmed in more. I promise it will make you faster than an Ensign.

This was another fun light air race, 3 - 8 kts, ideal conditions for the Impulse 26. We noticed a big lefty coming so went for a port tack start close to the pin but the competition beat us to it and we had to duck 2:20. They were holding a pretty high line up more toward the middle of the course so we decided to foot off to right for cleaner air. That seemed to pay off because we managed to get the windward mark first despite the bad start. This was the last race of the season for Bel-Nor. Another year of low lake water forced us to pull out early again.

This was a really fun race. We had a bad start but managed to get back in the hunt by first leeward mark rounding. Then, about half way the final upwind leg Brian (mainsail trimmer) spots this massive power boat wake coming toward us. So we tacked over to port just in time to ride this thing (1:03:20) and it carries us up at least one ladder wrung putting us more than 2 minutes ahead of the closest competitor at the finish..

It was the last Thursday in June. 6/29/23. The winds were only 5 - 12. We got first place that night.

Thanks. This was day 1 of the 2 day Fall Regatta but the wind was so light we only got in one race. Check out the R2 and R3 videos on day 2 which were a lot more exciting.

Did you get a Mk1 or Mk 2? Bel-Nor is a Mk2, Hull number 7. What size crew will you have? We raced with 5 for a couple of years but switched to 4 in 2020. It is a fun boat.

Obviously a little chilly day , what was the wind conditions? you did a nice job overtaking the boat with the black spinnaker. In not sure what happened about 1:20:00 ? I think you should have got the clews of the spinnaker together behind the main before dropping the halyard , you don't want to let the halyard go with wind in the sail or it tends to pull the boat over and make recovery of sail hard. How did you do in the end ? you were up with a lot of spinnaker boats when the battery died. Cheers Warren Impulse 21 racer.

The wind that day was 10 - 14 kts with gusts up to 18 kts. When the race started the temp was 39F. We had to do an emergency spinnaker drop because the jib fell into the water which pretty much stopped the boat and the spinnaker ripped. Up until then, I think we were in 2nd place but we finished 5th
