When I got this model, the description indicated there was an internal layer as well. Unfortunately, it's not scaled to the rest of the ship, and it's not designed to fit together with the rest of the ship. I am considering a way to re-make that internal layer in such a way that it can be sandwiched in between the bottom and top layers (so one would not have to re-print the entire ship.. assuming the top and bottom parts haven't been glued and can still be separated). The basic idea is that you could lift the top part of the ship off, remove the internal layer (showing the inside of the ship) and set it aside, then replace the top part and it would still fit the bottom half. Now you can have minis on both the top deck and the inside of the ship at the same time. I have played around with it in Meshmixer a bit, but to be honest, Meshmixer has some limitations that make it a bit cumbersome. Is there a better modeling software that might be better for this sort of thing?
It's been a while since I printed this, but I could have sworn the interior deck was the correct scale but seemed small at first glance because of how low in the hull it was supposed to represent. When it comes to editing models I can do the basic stuff with meshmixer but haven't taken the time to actually sit down and learn how to use a full fledged modelling program. You could check out "blender" which is a free modeling program along the lines of what is actually used to create these models in the first place.
@@m00kfu I finished the print in 29 Hrs (70mm/s for larger parts. hehe) I modified the ballista stands so that I could move them toward the upper edges (to give more room on the deck), and I also made a 200% scale ballista for the front (modified base as well). It looks much larger than I expected (which is a plus for me). I went ahead and glued everything together so I won't be following through with the middle layer plan. Thank you for the reply and suggestion! I will check out Blender (and Z-Brush, which I heard about elsewhere). Happy printing and I look forward to seeing more of your videos! Really nice work!

How long did the print take?
I want to say 3-4 days, but I can check to see if I can get a better estimate off of my computer later today
Get this to 20 views and we'll buy a better camera for the time lapse ;)
