Saddest part is that for the liberated NCOs the real struggle was just beginning, coming home to uncertain futures, at least in the castle they had purpose, I almost feel sorry for them going back home, at least they'd all passed on before they could see how conned they all were and how in vain their efforts were, I'm old enough to have known them, I wish I hadn't lived to see the elitist treachery and British self-loathing

It’s ironic that Nigel Stock is playing the part of an SS interrogator, when he played the part of an escaped POW being interrogated by the SS in ‘The Great Escape.’

The POWs playing volleyball and the like so enthusiastically must have been relative newcomers. Prisoners who'd been on semi-starvation rations for many months had hardly enough energy to stand at attention.

An observation when in the prior episode he found his son had been crushed by a Russian Tank and not taken prisoner Kommandant was fearful of being captured by the Russians knowing how brutal they were and was relieved that he and his men were placed in allied hands.

I like this series but it is a disgrace to history that these people are commandos - Willy Rushton is too fat to scale a cliff with rope - he had the right acccent for the BBC though - and look what they turned in to - a woke, anti white propaganda machine - you should have cut it short and put Goebells in charge of the BBC - same result. Well done marxists - what else can you ruin?

Ive watched the whole series, again, first time in 1972? i although only 12 then, it was impressive, but now quite an incredible plot but as an adult now, i understand an awful lot more, it must of been unbearable for the Allied forces, and i imagine, the Germans were portrayed favourably, that was probably, incorrect

There was one confirmed good Nazi...Oskar Shindler. He was a member of the Nazi party and held company with senior members of the SS as a industrialist at the highest level however, as the war unfolded, he distanced himself from the attrocities of the SS finding ways to aid the victims without exposing that help.

Pity there's no mention of NZ Army Capt Charlie Upham VC & Bar who was held prisoner at Colditz after several escape attempts. Immediately upon liberation he asked the Americans for a gun & grenades, the latter his favourite weapon, in order that he could resume fighting the Germans. I'm unsure how far he got in his personal vendetta before the Brit authorities caught up with him and ordered him to pack it in.
