I actually have a theory to add on that the virus was a bio weapon. Here me out, Rify was clearly more than just a civilian cargo ship as there are military weapons, and the area is gassed, so I think that it’s was brought to cherno via Rify ship, sent to Pavlovo and NWAF for experimentation, (NWAF as the solitary cell beneath the prison is surrounded by medical equipment.) then, the virus is spread to the rest of cherno, Livonia, and Sakhal through aircraft, as we see multiple crashed aircraft on cherno and a gassed airfield on Livonia that suggest that planes were the point of origin. Mainly, the hotel crash in Cherogorsk is surrounded by infected first responders, making me think that is carried sample of the the virus.

I remember that stuff about the radio on the mod from the DayZ website forums in 2012. I think we all came to the conclusion that it was a BS, because the radio was not a spawnable object in Vanilla DayZ mod. It was only introduced in the mods of The Mod. I vaguely remember Rocket (when he used to post on the forums regularly) said something about there being an underground bunker at Green Mountain that was the source of the outbreak, and that he was working on an origin story of the virus with his brother, who is a virologist in real life. That origin story was never released.

Never could get into Livonia. But after nerding hard on the lore of dayz over the last month or so, your other video (the lore of dayz documentary, best dayz video on the internet, btw.), led me here, and being as good as that other video, I'm now hunting a good Livonia sever to explore better, after seeing this one....two likes and a sub. From a previous video i watched of Chernarus, i believe the infection spread by plane, as the airfields were either used as hospitals or evacuation centres. This also is probably why the Krasnostav Airfield is being shelled with PO-X gas (if i remember correctly from the video) possibly by the the Russian Army, and the Lukow Airfield is also shelled by the same thing, so i am just wondering that since DayZ quote-unquote, “Takes place a few weeks or more after the initial infection”, that during an airfield evacuation, they put an infected in an aircraft and led to a plane landing or crashing in Livonia spreading the infection near the woods or the hills, thats just my take since i’ve never really played the game since i own a trashy mac.

Happy that as a Czech (or Chernorussian if you may) i visited about 80% of these places IRL even before i knew DayZ existed. I mean, who hasen't visited klondajk. Or cukrák - zelenogorsk (green mountain). You can go on a 40 km trip irl and pass thru 3 whole ingame locations, lol-

After 2k hours of all kinds of survival in this game, the only thing left is to discover what was before and what happened, they always drop the ball on lore HARD. Thanks for these videos, i dont expect them to explain everything but bigger hints, more horror, and more explanation of some aspects would help alot. Even just files like they had on namalsk.

So the question still stands: Who or what is maintaining the ongoing chemical attacks on Chernarus? Why did I just spawn on the coast? Is chernarus a prison state now? Filled wilth criminals sentenced to a most disgusting life? Considering the actions of the population of Chernarus....it is not far fetched to say it is filled with murderers and madmen. Perhaps civilization persists elsewhere free of the infection, sending it's undesirables to Chernarus....and the regular gas attacks on townships in Chernarus is a means to suppress Organization in the Prison State...keeping us forever sparse and at war with one another....instead of building communities. I sometimes imagine what a Dayz server would be like....without murder. Base cities....trading....entire factions thriving. Law and Order. No....not in Chernarus...where the most wicked of wicked get sent.

So the game is set sometime between 2009 and 2024

The fact the game was only ever concieved from a guy with a dream makes me that much more captivated by DayZ. Its a legitimate passion project from someone with real intention of making something special and unique and personal, with a goal in mind. Only in the last few years ever starting to play, I admit I was spared those initial frustrating years of even more buggy gameplay, crashes and all the likes, but playing dayz now can really be a treat. I just wish I could play it offline single player tbh, and with mods for having AI NPCs to replace online real players (being a single player game kinda guy), it would be awesome to get to play this game without forced internet connection, to make it a real standalone game that doesnt have strings attached. But I digress. This game is one of few that has captivated me so much, and learning the lore behind it all (I never played the Arma games either), its so insane to see the story like this. To know how much the original dreamer had intended with their passion project, as well as the development from devs when it became its own game. What a wild story this game has. lol 😌👌

The “high tier” loot zones line up with the path Namalsk corporation was chasing that scientist who died just outside Tisy. The Livonia bunker has hi-tech weapons and kit as well, like it was a nato facility they raided and destroyed to prevent the gas development. Maybe Hannah is a namalsk scientist too? Explains guys in black chasing her. Wish it was official lore lol

Man, "Rify" on Russian means huge rocks near by water. And yes on Russian one single is "Rif", many rocks will be "Rify", so that "y" in that word mean the same like "s" aka "many such items/objects and whatever else". So that's nothing special. Anyway thx for the video.

In my opinion livonia had very close relations with poland, because polish signs are very common, and the radio you showed on a table at 3:37 is an unitra wilga whitch was never actualy sold outside of poland

The first bigger city after coming from the German border in the Czech Republic is "Decin" if you drive from Dresden to Prag by train... its just on the other side from the train tracks over the river elbe... Located in an German and Czech border crossing area known as the Elb(e)-Sandstein Mountains... as a DayZ player you know this as a famous cost city in chernarus.. this train line is known as one of the most beautiful train routes to travel in Europe... You also drive through "Usti nad Labem" another well known city in chernarus...
