Leaving any kind of netting around is super dangerous for wildlife. One had already lost its life but we managed to save the other little one and released it back into the residents yard safely.

This lovely western brown snake was seen hiding in a chair just waiting for his human family to take him on a camping trip. Sorry little mate, you need to go camping along this time.

Wow! So interesting. Does the bearded dragon mother remember where the eggs are? Or do they hatch the same way turtles too, just kinda raw dog this whole life thing
Bearded dragons don’t raise their young. It’s like turtles, as you mentioned
Really good video. If only the fatality rate worldwide could be reduced to what it is in Australia. I just wondered if it is worth adding a proviso that the compression bandage should not necessarily be applied where the species of snake is non-Australian?
I need to see more!!!!
It looks so cute 😮
Hi, would the eastern brown be the hardest snake to deal with.
Each snake has its own personality, I’d probably say the small western browns are often the trickiest to deal with though.
Faaaark. Very lucky
She is a clever girl, have plenty in qld sadly so many get run over.
Quick moving ,wot a beauty !!
Definitely saw the red on him. He's a very calm snake. 😊✌🏼
Glad you could see it. Such a nice snake
Now that is just a blessing to be there and to witness I wish I could have been there to watch that's just so beautiful. 😊
@@SaMaNtHa.2023 I’m so glad he had the thought of putting the camera out there so we could share it with everyone
Great video. Two things I'd like to add: All Aussie snake antivenom nowadays is polyvalent which will deal with all Aussie species of snake venom, so IDing the snake is no longer required in order to treat the snake bite. Washing the bite site is just a waste of time and delays getting the bandage on. Sydney Funnel Web, other related funnel web spider species, and mouse spider bites are the most deadly spiders to get bitten by and they are the ones that need compression bandages. Fortunately, their ranges are quite limited and they're rarely encountered by humans. Redback spider bites - which are far more common - require a completely different method, that is putting a cold pack on the bite site without compression. Staying calm, still, and getting medical attention is all the same however.
@@grandmothergoose good information mate. I’ve recently had some concerning talks with our local ED and they advised similar. They said they still do have mono but poly is the go to. My issue with that is that poly requires lots more of it and can cause serious health implications down the track
@@brokenhillsnakecatchers One or two doses of polyvalent antivenom is a far better option than messing about wasting time with tests that are not always conclusive and playing guessing games with which monovalent antivenom is needed - not to mention the problems of uneducated people attempting to capture or kill to ID snake species in hopes of correctly guessing what antivenom is needed just in case the tests at hospital are inconclusive. Inconclusive test results used to happen a LOT more than you'd think, and the tests take precious time that some people can't afford. The long-term damage of the venom itself is far more damaging. Bit of fun trivia, one of the potential long-term effects of black snake venom, specifically redbelly black snake, is complete loss of taste which can be a delayed effect that doesn't kick in until days, weeks, months, and in some people years after being bitten by the snake.
@ I’ve actually heard of cases where people required in excess of a dozen vials of poly. Hospitals are now saying they no longer use vdk kits much these days and this apparently was driven by poor training and staff not knowing how to use the test correctly and getting it wrong. I still feel that education around this is the ultimate goal and that hospitals especially in remote areas should receive better funding for training opportunities. Some snakes have strange long term effects and a bloke I know is actually dealing with the ongoing issues associated from an eastern brown and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.
Thank you so much 😊
You are most welcome
Aboriginals laid down under tree without moving for 7 days
Absolutely right. There are some animals that will do the same and it’s purely to slow the venom down and the theory is that the body is able to process the venom little bit at a time.
Hi guys, do they live in qld aswell.😊
The do occur in parts of Queensland. Predominantly the south eastern regions.
They always get me them skinks because they're always near the Murray River and I always think that they look like a baby brown snake sometimes and I'm like holy poo. I have to kind of double check it's like oh it's not a baby brown snake. They are a Pygmy Bluetongue Lizard skink
Also curious why don't you milk them before you release them so we can get more anti-venom. Is that another qualification or experts qualification. Especially if you want to get into this kind of expectation of catching these. Where do you go to get all the qualification so you become one of these snake catchers or reptile catchers. Especially where do we go if we need to report something like this and need the help? Sorry that it's so long but I'm not a type of person that would like to be a walking knowledge book indifferent trades.
Hi mate, it’s purely because setting up for this kind of thing is very expensive and there isn’t a big call for it. There are institutes set up specifically for this process however we don’t have that luxury.
Because it's becoming a snake season can you do a video on like if your bikes trailing or or walking your dog or you just going for a hike or running you come across red belly black snake or brown snake. Can you do you like a reaction of how we are supposed to deal with the situation instead out of control or how to handle an act when we put in that because I know you just basically ignore or just keep riding but if you run over it with your bike or you step on it when you're running or the dog disturbs it. And also what to do in the situation that we get bitten give ourselves first aid on the species? They are beautiful brown snakes I find them fascinating because they are different colours I don't know if they have different morphs like the pet snakes and the pet lizards and things like that out in the wild. I have 36 years of age and I finally came across in brown snake in the wild didn't really bother me actually just stood there and watched it Slytherin way where it was going.
We can certainly work on a video like that for you. Leave it with me for a while
Also if you look back in the channel, I should have a full first aid video uploaded. If not though, I’ll find it again and upload it
👍
Does the stumpy blue tongue lizard got a name yet? I'm not scared of anything only if it turns around and runs at me then I don't want to borrow of it. But I really hate Cockroaches.
I think my wife loved the comment and the explanation of lambert so I reckon that will stick
I think your wife was like not another pet. 😂 I think that's a really cool name for him too Lambert.
Stunning looking snake boys. Hopefully alot more mulgas pop up this season.
Thanks mate. It would be bloody awesome if we start seeing more big mulgas
Maybe a dor beetle, we have 20 plus beetles.😊
I dont think so. Google photos look different to this one
Plalacrognathos muelleri maybe.😮 ? Sleepy name😂
I googled that but nothing came up
I like bugs boys in the house, not eastern brown snakes, my dog chased it out.😂
Are you able to identify this little bug by any chance?
Sadly u dont see many, but his a beauty.❤
Do you get inland Taipans in the Broken Hill region?
We are pretty close to known locations. As a general rule, no, but back in the early 2000’s we did get one that may have lived here or may have hitched a ride in on a vehicle.
About to shed his skin
Spot on mate
Id imagine an adult ringbrown mate, easterns of that size can generally still have their bands or darker head. But could be wrong.
Even hatchling Easterns in our area almost never have rings weirdly enough
@brokenhillsnakecatchers aw really. Never would've thought that, I'm in the hunter valley and I'd say nearly all the hatchies I've seen have had them.
@@callanmurphy9807 it’s crazy how the same species in a different area can exhibit different traits
@brokenhillsnakecatchers yeh considering the grounds are somewhat similar. I had a good size 2m at our old place in the upper hunter and he was just your average brown, but then had a 1.2m and he was a tad lighter with some banding still, faint but there.
Suppose a ring brown is better then a brown ring 😂
Maaaate, if you’re ring is any other colour than brown, you might want to book a drs appointment haha
@@brokenhillsnakecatchers haha yeh true 🤣
Hey guys, whats the name of sleepy.?😂
We still have suggestions coming in. I think we’ll do a poll on our Facebook page from the suggestions and let you all vote for him
Ringbrown
Both the same species? But I wouldn't be sure. So lightly coloured to the browns I've mostly seen around our parts (east of melbourne) and those up the east coast. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for being here mate. Appreciate you
Base of their tail is ridged and hard on the top. Might help if you can rotate the tail onto the side where it’s soft. You can then pull him out. But great great work! Thanks for rescuing him.
HI Guys , Thanks for th vid , and I cant possibly say which it is. My guess is that it is just a standard Eastern brown (but I imagine you wouldn't be asking if that were the case). Having said that its because I've never seen any juvenile ringed browns between Lake Torrens and the Range, an area I'm fairly familiar with. (There are plenty of pretty much white western browns with hoods however) I hope you haven't forgotten the comparison between the juvenile brown and the rare snake you showed us (and that I asked about) a couple of weeks ago? Thankyou kind regards
I certainly haven’t forgotten about you mate. I’m just waiting for a very stock standard juvenile eastern to come in and I’ll be on it for you mate. I might even end up going through some old footage and see what I can make up for you. Really appreciate you being here mate. ❤
@@brokenhillsnakecatchers no dramas... you guys doing a great job. the only thing i would mak a comment about was the handling of the small snake; i'd hate to think that there were young viewers out there who thought that was ok...kind regards
@@HC-cz8bs I do agree mate. I try to regularly say in videos not to copy but some people will do what they’re going to do I guess. Always appreciate peoples thoughts too. Thanks mate
So what's the name that is everybody chosen for the stompy sleepy lizard
We still have suggestions coming in. There’s some good ones
@PaxAlotin-j6rlittle nugget!!! Hopefully he comes back soon
If you kind of cool in nugget you might want to steal him because gold nugget or he's a chicken nugget might want to eat him ori could be a poo nugget. I like Barry. Either way it's a kind of cool name nugget or Barry
Around melb juvenile eastern browns vary. Out west they regularly have a black head. Hard to tell from black headed whip snake. Other areas they have stripes. All fade over time. But the black headed variety tend to grow up a little more grumpy. Don’t worry they will tell you. Lol
They can be grumpy little tackers at times that’s for sure
Well, i live in qld..never heard or seen one, he is a looker but is he toxic.?❤😂
Certainly is. He’s related to the mulga and red belly
Good rescue
Thank you!!

@@brokenhillsnakecatchers well, those berries he ate disagree with you. Hungry boy.
Barry is 99% male look at his tail. it's not fat and wide like a platypus tail indicating it's a girl. It's more indicating it's a boy because it is very short and very pointy and narrow and it does not look like it's flat out like a platypus tail.
Yeah we’re of the same thought. Head shape apparently is another give away as they get older but I am far from an expert on lizards. Is there a way to know for sure when they’re this young or is it something that will become apparent as he gets older?
And the Lord peered at the strange little creature and decreed "Thy name is shingle..." And the creature said " yes giver of fruit"😂

@@brokenhillsnakecatchers I named my iguana that, and I named my Husky Chow mix that name as well, when I got him years later. Both are gone to the great one now.
If sleepy is a girl call her libby😂
Funny you should say that. At this age it’s very hard to tell if it’s a boy or girl without intrusive sexing. I have consulted a very experienced lizard friend that said she’s fairly sure he will be a male based on his head shape so we’re going to assume it’s a boy
All good my friends
You gotta call him ROCKY!
