The Rite of the Tortoise

Our tortoise, Jim, eating some food and taking a walk. I think it's hilarious to watch him eat. He reminds me of the dinosaurs from Fantasia. So here is our little "dinosaur"...
My New Baby Sulcata

Just cruising around his new home. He walks laps all day until he just passes out in the middle of his cage. He tries to climb everything, even the walls. He has no fear. He's about 2 1/2 inches long right now. So cute!

These are some of my favorite sounds from the M13 Stompbox Modeler on my electric cello. There are many more sounds available than I played on here, these are just my favorites.

A 6 string cello? Cool.
That’s. A. Six. String. Cello. Ima cellists my self but. Gurl I have never seen a cello with six different strings
@Lauren K Jones it’s been 6 years but I prefer Mesa Boogie (albeit through an IPad simulation) with a Mark iii, IV, or the Dual Rectifier. The distortion effects can really kick metal in a sensitive area.
Keep pushing the envelope. . Awesome stuff.
No one: Play station 1: 1:53
Do you like the 6 string model vs 5 or 4? I noticed you're up on the A string when you have an E string that would be in the same range and was wondering if you end up enjoying your E string =D
octaver and fuzz. Now.
Cello should only have 4 strings
You need to join Sunn O)))
ping pong delay, yeah.
holy mother of bass batman The Synth String one <3
Hi, this is simply amazing. I liked the sadness and other high emotions of the song. Please check your RUclips/Google private message box - I just sent you a message. Thanks!
The GROWLER reminded me of the startup-sound of the playstation 1 :D
Just ordered my daughter the WAV 4 string NS cello for middle school graduation and a small bass amp to travel ( we are going away for 4 weeks and she'd be lost without her cello) with and was looking around for some effects. So do you recommend bass pedals over the guitar ones? I'm clueless...any help greatly appreciated!!!!! I have a few weeks to get it all together. 😀
So what is better? This Cello or the SVC 220sk
can anyone help me? lyrics of this song.. plz
The growler sounds like Slipknot's The Devil In I
hello. what is the tune ?
Yes the one with the Reverb and pingpong delay.. Awesome...
You'd make a perfect 5th member of Tool with some of those sounds
Owl Smasher I love Tool so I couldn't complain about that!
Lauren! thanks for this excelent video!! Tell me, which tuning you´re using?
What's the tuning on that?
cool sounds
That was really cool. I love hearing effects used in an unorthodox way and it's something I do quite a bit on guitar. You should also check out some effects from Earthquaker Devices (Rainbow Machine or Arpanoid) or something like a wah...
What kind of bow do you recommend with this cello?
ur awesome, im about to purchase one of these model... would you recommend the CR 4 string version? and have u tried the SVC 210 from yamaha? this is the ones available here and i cant even try them..also im very happy to know that u like mesa boogie cauz i actualy got a Mark V.. i hope itll sound awesome :P
Martin Bergeron Thank you! I haven't tried the 4-string version, but I will say that I really like the set up of this cello. The fingerboard, bridge, etc are well done and they feel like my acoustic (actually, even better). Everything is well shaped and I haven't run into any strange flaws or idiosyncrasies. I'd imagine that the 4-string version is the same way. I have not tried the Yamaha cellos, but I've had friends that had them. They never seemed to like them as much as their acoustics, but that's all I really know about those. I didn't get to try this one before I bought it either. I had to have it shipped in. I love the way the Mesa Boogie sounds with it. The bass is really nice especially in person. Good luck with your new instrument!
thx for the answer, i finally got the CR 4 :P its awesome its my third day learning cello... I think it sound awesome also but i need to get that technique up a bit :P
Martin Bergeron That's great! I hope it's going well!
Sure, i really love it. I'm still not as good as you but its going well :)
hi , can i ask you what is the title of the song what you play with ping pong delay ? thx
gothman21 It's called the long distance. It's a solo piece I wrote a couple of years ago.
Just ordered the 4 string version of that cello, I must look more into this stomp box I am intrigued.
asciblue It's totally worth it. Half of the fun of the electric is being able to play with effects!
Hey Laura, sorry I spaced on this a bit. School is kicking my ass currently, but I'm totally in agreement. I picked the electric to get a different sound. I'm very happy with my choice, hope your's is treating you equally well!
Have always wanted to play the Cello. Hearing you wants me to take it up even more. thanks for inspiring me.
Did u ever get around to it?
Got some dubstep elements in here! I like it.
What type of amp do you have? I have the 4 string version NS cello and the M13 but am struggling to find a decent amp. Are you using a keyboard amp?
lutherpug I use a mesa boogie bass amp with a Ampeg cab. I have used keyboard amps before and they sound nice too.
What happens if you try to use a guitar amp? Would it break? What pedal board are you using?
Walfred Zorrilla I've tried using guitar amps before and they really can't handle the bass. I find they rattle a lot and they really just don't sound very good. I'm using the Line 6 M13 Stombox Modeler pedal.
@@LaurenKJones I would imagine you using bass amps for this in general..
better use two-handed saw :)
Very cool, Lauren! Thank you for the demonstration!
cool to see classical players experimenting... FINALLY. some of this stuff has been around for a while, but for some reason string players never played around with guitar effects
Yes more music evolution in the open
delays are ok....but don't try to play Delius cello concerto with the m13 PLEASE....DELAYS and reverbs are nice...I don't like the rest of the fx...(as a cello and bass player) pse try AER amps for electro cellos...are a DREAM!
Thank you!
Thanks!!
Thank you!
Yes, it is. I was really torn on which brand I was going to buy, but I definitely feel like I made the right decision. They're really well made and playing on mine feels better than playing on my acoustic! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
LOL!
I play through a Mesa Boogie M6 Carbine amp with a Ampeg bass cab. I would definitely recommend Mesa Boogie for the electric cello. It gives it a rich sound.
It's in a normal tuning on this recording, but I have 6 strings: EADGCF
What tuning is your cello in??
And the music? :( Well
Great!
Hi, What kind of speaker or amp are you using? Mine doesn't handle special effects frequencies very well :/
spin cycle sounds like a cat :p
