This would have been really good if they had the Queen on the show. Specially instead of Lord Melbury.

Although many Americans love Monty Python, I never got it past "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!" Much British humor leaves me cold. The export of Are You Being Served? and the one w the social climbing Mrs. Bucket (bu-kay!) were exceptions for me. However, Faulty Towers was perfect right out the gate. I still can't believe it was originally just one season.

It’s an amazing show from its infancy into an amazing successful comedy not every to be seen again. It’s refreshing to to have a comedy that has a male that’s is so complicated but embraces the female cast who are the huge talented contributors to the success of the show.

Fawlty Towers is the best television comedy ever made, and that's no joke nor should it be easy to pick a show as the best TV comedy ever made but it is. Yes, there have been other funny shows but John Cleese and his Fawlty Towers is by far the best show. There are very few TV sitcoms that even come close. In fact, there aren't that many TV comedies who ever made me laugh out loud while watching but John Cleese and his crew really pulled it off.

It is sure one the wittiest, most entertaining serial ever produced. The only thing that I ever hated is this annoying background laughter - as they wanted to tell us idiots when we had to amuse ourselves.

The concept, storyline’s, cast, characters and 6 foot 2 inches of manic synthesis of every kind of comic genius since Charlie Chaplin, the Marx Brothers, Phyllis Diller, the Goon Show, Oxbridge capping reviews, Monty Python, the Goodies accumulated and giving glorious mirthful birth to the show I and my g-g-generation looked forward to weekly in then black and white Down Under in New Zealand. RUclips has giving us Baby Boomers to relive that boon - and the comedy has never gone stale. RUclips has also given succeeding generations from X to Z the opportunity to enjoy a quality of comic acting unknown since.

Great sitcom. Terrible programme about it. There's a decent one in here somewhere, but edited only for those with the attention span of a goldfish. And why do they bother with yet another Stephen Fry voiceover?

Talking of archetypes: the owner and manager of a caravan park we once visited who epitomised Basil. I was in the local petrol station filling up my car when I happened to mention where I was staying. The person in the garage asked me about the owner. I just casually said, "Oh, you mean Basil?" 12 months later when we came back for another stay the whole town was referring to him as Basil. John Cleese was a genius in character formation.

Great reminisces thanks for the upload. So which is the funniest episode? Well, (for me) that seems to change over time. In 1975, it was "Gourmet Night" (Basil hitting the car still brings tears to my eyes) or "the Germans" - the moose, the brain injury, the funny walk all - priceless. In 1979 it became, "The Psychiatrist." By 1990, "The Kipper and the Corpse" was a clear fav. Now , I adore an epoxide didn't like on first screening, ""The Anniversary." Roger (Ken Campbell) is priceless. To me they are perfection. ps did I mention "Basil the Rat" oh god they're all good!
