may I ask how you came to use the word basque with Highland dancing?
Hi Joey, I'm not certain, but I believe that it comes from French influence. This movement shown, pas de basque, is similar to a pas de basque in ballet.
May I tell you? Research scota as a name. Basque and Highland dancing is a lot alike. It is nothing to with the french. The basque people are not French at all. When looking up scota, look up basque people as well.
@@kidsinkilts5606 It comes from Basque dances. This step (and many similar ones) is very common in our traditional dances, and I suppose that it comes from Basque dancers who danced at the court of some French king, where ballet was created. How curious that it kept its Basque origin in the name all the way to the Highlands!
