could you please explain where the 20% is from?
The 20% is a norm applied on many projects and has often been accepted by regulators for large scale geometries such as in airports and railway depots. It can be varied if there is increased uncertainty in calculations or if slower populations are under consideration.
These series of short lectures provide a really good grounding in the reasons for and the implementation of BIM level 2. I recommend listening to them if you are involved in the delivery of construction projects.
