I got a 1995 k1500 with a 3/4 ton rear axle with 11” drums, I also had a 1988 k2500 and both trucks use the same 3/4 ton frame. Easily put this on k1500 and can handle the extra weight, unless if you have a 1/2 ton axle with the 10” drums, then I wouldn’t recommend.

yeah I remember back in the day I was driving me Dads 1972 GMC Custom half ton and a part of a spring fell off while dirving home from work. Only springs I could find from a salvage yard were for a large farm grain truck. So yeah I went from a 3 or 4 leaf setup to at least 8 or 10. (dont really remember) WOW! what a lift. Looked line the truck was taking a nosedive all the time...LOL. Dad said he still owned the truck so I took it to a mechanic that charged me $80 to install the newer springs.

Yo was that a fuse on the ground wire?

My buddy did this and regretted it. The truck rode VERY stiff with 2500 leafs. Painful over bumps...

I can tell by the wheels you never take it off road. Why worry about all heavy duty accessories if you never take it off road?

I’m doing this job now. Just an amp and subwoofer. I’m trying to run all my wires to the back for the sub and amp. Any recommendations to get the wires ran under the panels on the driver side?

So 2500 and 1500 is basically the same other than the frame? Right? And suspension im guessing as well? I just purchased one i didnt realized its a 2500, thats why im curious

I'm going to soften up my ride by putting half ton 4 leafsprings in my C2500. I never carry much weight in it, mostly tow a boat so the 5 leaf springs are killing my back.

Does the 5 leaf conversion stiffen up the ride too much. Don’t want to roughen the ride too much but I could use the extra leafs. Also just thinking bout putting new shocks and taller blocks.

I know I’m late to the show, but I would have taken that 14 bolt 6 lug rearend. To good of a rearend to go to waste

Bro! While you had the axel dropped you could habe replaced with a newer axle with disk brakes! Good job though, good to know the 2500 springs fit, did you get 2500 shocks or 1500 shocks?

Thanks man, I had been wanting to see what the difference in 2500 leafs was. But now also trying to see what the difference in frame size is from the k1500 to the k2500 (1/2 ton to 3/4 ton)

Great vid. I'm doing the same to my 2001 1500. It's getting new shock, front coils, and 2500 HD leaf springs just to help with the sagging. I tow my 18 foot car trailer but only once in a while so I don't really need a 2500 truck. The truck will be getting 4.19 gears and a 4l80 just because the stock 4l60 and 3.42s aren't the best

I'm doing the exact same thing now. Going from 1500 to 2500 just so I don't have that sag with trailer on the back... My question is, when you put the bolt in near the tank . Did you put the nut between the shackle and tank ?

Shocks staggered in back to prevent axle drop Any benefit to adding 2 more shocks to the rear? 2 facing the rear. 2 facing the front
