Gas Vap Metal Insert for the Apimaye Beehive ...
This video details how to install a threaded metal insert into the back of an apimaye beehive for mite treatment using a gas vap or similar oxalic acid vaporizer. The same method can be used with other devices like a pro vap that are either not long enough to vaporize thru the front or get too hot and burn the plastic. There are many ways to treat a beehive for mites. This video is not an endorsement for any particular method. If you found the video helpful please like the video or leave a comment below. Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

    • @kkiebs1238
      @kkiebs1238 2 года назад

      Lol .. so many questions. Was more of a fun project than an attempt to mass produce comb. The stl for the comb took me a while to draw in a cad program and Its not my first stl. The angle, depth and diameter of the cells also took some research to match what might be average for a bee. Not sure the cell wall thickness matters that much as long as its close. If you want to start learning how to create stl's or drawing things for a 3d printer, I'd maybe start with a free program called tinker cad. As you've already mentioned you can find some pretty good 3d printers on amazon these days for pretty cheap prices. Anyway, toast to a good bee season this year.

    I was trying to figure out how to get OA pan thru pollen trap entrance. That way its above the bottom grate. 1/2" pan into 1/4" rear trap entrance. An extra step could be done - After pulling OA bottom board, reach under and wipe hive grate. Is the reason that it takes so long to vaporize OA is that the pan is touching the metal electrical box? Not sure if I'm seeing any insulation between Pan and Box. I do like your design. It doesn't change the Apimaye hive with cutouts or holes that need filling. Good job.

    This tec has been around for a while, it sound like a great idea, heat without combustion. If it's more efficient than combustion for heating water, why aren't we using it? Like the transition from incandescent light bulbs to LED's, a seemingly more efficient way to produce heat.

    Nice job! 3D Printing definitely is addicting almost as much as Beekeeping. ;) Was looking at 3d printing some cards for ID Tag holders. Print the rectangle shape a dark color, switch filament and print the raised font a bright color.

      Share a picture if you get one 3d printed. For the ID holders I looked at using livestock tags and then decided to just laminate some paper to keep it waterproof.

    Great video, and the plus side of it is a Brilliant Idea.

    What’s the draw back if you don’t give the hive a pollen patty?

      Pollen patties just help kickstart the queen into laying a couple weeks before trees start producing in my area. If your in the northern part of the US with a short season you might find this more useful than say, somebody in the south.
