A tiny piece I wrote for Wiktoria Szymanska's justifiably lauded documentary "Themerson & Themerson". It was also written for a friend who no longer is, but at least the music outlasted the friendship.

Talk about GIRL POWER at its BEST. yummy.
Looks like some really bad blood went down with Deborah and "the other bloke"... I'm sure that's a story in itself, and was probably down to (drumroll, pls...) MONEY.
Gosh. Much as I have always loved her eccentricity, I don't think she comes out well from this. Not once does she refer to the Flying Lizards founder David Cunningham as anything but 'the other bloke' and when given opportunity to expand, she effectively calls him short and ugly. I have to say I am left at a loss to understand why she would be so unpleasant but I think some would be come away from this interview wondering if she imagined as the vocalist ( a huge stretch to say 'singer') she felt she should have had a larger percentage of any royalties. Very disappointed. Something is bitter in this.
“The other bloke”. Why didn’t she name check Steve Beresford 🙆🏽♀️
Thanks Sis...
Her voice hasn’t changed.
She never lost those amazing eyes. They were what grabbed me in the Money video
Me too! They’re kind of honestly intimidating like she looks upset but they’re unique definitely!
She hit the wall so hard she should have an NCAP rating.
Just listened to Summertime Blues for the first time. Never knew it existed. Masterpiece.
"the other bloke" has a certain ring of nastiness
amazing person
she was such a beauty when she was young on top of the pops (1979)
Really interesting to look at. The eyes and her beautiful lips
Still beautiful in 2013.
As weird as my sister, no wonder they are friends !
Age is such a horrible thing
She is just WONDERFUL ❤
She has a German or Dutch tinge to her posh accent.
what is wrong with the interviewer? So unfriendly.
This group and song was part of the " new music" scene, yes, it is historical and paved the way for all the " new wave" and pop of the 80's, and even thru to today.
Shes lovely posh totty.Remember her singing Convertible aswell. That song Money in 1979 was a fantastic alternative cover in the year that pop music was at its best really.
Classy lady and very interesting
Fabulous fabulous fabulous woman!!!
Good god.
I'm pleased she became a worthwhile member of society. The organisation she heads sounds very interesting.
When she sings, her voice sounds German.
I’ve always thought she sounds like someone whose first language is Japanese while singing in English.
I've thought exactly the same thing. I always thought she was some German new wave chick at the time. When the song came out we all thought it was such an oddball song. It was almost so bad it was good. It definitely has its own identity.
Yes. I thought it sounded German too.
I love her little “hmm”s
Me too it’s like super stereotypical British lol not in a bad way just how British people are more proper for most part than like Americans
He's not an interviewer, he's an aggressive interrogator. Lot of those in political media.
I have a feeling she has autism (as do I) ...it makes perfect sense.
Can they stop all this succession nonsense and make her the new queen?
Does anyone know if she has ever said that she is autistic ?
My aut-dar is going ping ... and it takes one to know one.
God I'm scared of her !
Ironic that her problems with the other bloke concern a song called "Money(That's What I Want)".
Shes sooo posh haha
Well done for doing this interview.
This has to be one of the most claustrophobic interviews I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s as if she’s very uncomfortably being verbally assaulted by a psychotherapist while clearly, occasionally and uncomfortably, side-glancing the camera. Over half of the time she’s bombarded by questions about her schooling. One wonders what happened between her and Cunningham - besides the money? Considering the curtness of it, you gotta be happy that we got to hear even this much.
that's just her, zero social skills
The Other bloke? I'm sitting watching and thinking about the three of them in the video? This was an excruciating interview to watch and the hat on her head was most distracting. What is it? Mark from Melbourne Australia
@@markfryer9880she’s wearing a hat ? I thought it was a bad hair day !
She's a time traveler here she interviews George Orwell ruclips.net/video/JXm5hklbBsA/видео.html
A genuine English Eccentric.
I still love her. How honest is this? I couldn't sing.
And let us not forget 'TV' and their appearance on Tiswas, because that has to be one of the most underrated 7" singles ever!
She fascinates me, has done for many years. I wish there were many more records featuring her. I love Walk On By! Thank you for this Felix.
both her songs with Richard X are classics
Thank you: my pleasure (well, sort of 😉).
She’s got the same demeanour as she had in the video - aloof, bored, disinterested.
Right and maybe a bit vain ( not in. A bad way she says she used to be pretty vain)
To people who say she's annoyed, I don't think she was really. If she was genuinely annoyed, she wouldn't have done the interview, or carried on with it once she'd started. It's a bit of a pose, playing up to the image people already have of her.
The most interesting thing in my opinion is that someone like her would never have joined a pop group at any other time apart from the mid/late 1970s. Not before then, and not since then. That's why that period was so interesting from a musical point of view, and from lots of other points of view as well.
Very astute observations!
We grow we change or we start dying...
I like money and like her she’s very blunt but she always looks very annoyed lol.
She's not really, she's playing up to the image people are expecting of her. If she was genuinely annoyed she wouldn't have done the interview at all.
Good point she just has an unapproachable face but she seems like a nice person in this interview she’s really witty and has dry humor
Neither was he tall nor good-looking....priceless
She's great, hope she's single x come on Deborah message me x
Such a quintessential English accent....strikingly pretty and enigmatic
She s posh mate, nowt wrong with that.Theres about 7 English accents, the way she sounds isnt an accent, its called received pronunciation
@@brianmorecombe2726 I think she's cultivated it. She doesn't seem to have come from a particularly aristocratic background.
women take note... at some time the bloom is off the rose? and crazy means crazy alone at some point
Some of the questions ARE inane, but I appreciate her for being willing to sit for the interview. Deborah Evans-Stickland is fun. Thanks Felix. Next time I come back ck to this interview I will let the commercial play all the was so that you are paid
I think she is so Modest and a beautiful spirited soul. Love her❤️
She’s so fucking weird lol
