Laziness. . .Your Key to Productivity!
Liked the optimism…..and simplicity….any suggestions regarding supplemental therapies for long-standing mild to moderate anxiety/depression…..Hypnosis?…..EMDR?…..Ritual/Narrative work?
So glad that you reached out in a comment. Thanks you for taking the time to do so. All of the therapies you mentioned have been clinically shown to be effective. Without having the benefit of meeting with you, I could not make a recommendation of what would be best for you. But, I do echo what Carl Jung said , "We don't solve our problems, we outgrow them." So, along with me, be intentional about staying on the pathway of personal growth!
@MakinglifebetterwithDr.Wes. Very sensible as expected…..I suppose the trap is that sort of silver bullet kind of thinking anyway…..it’s really the incremental progression/movement that puts some real distance between us and our problems….even to the point where we (possibly) forget about them.
@@AliMacAzz you have an impressive ability to understand the nuances of the mental health journey. Thanks for your input. I look forward to building on our conversation in future videos 🙂
Thank you brother
You are an amazing leader. I'm grateful to be a part of your world. Keep building up lives my friend.
I needed this thank you!
You are welcome! I admire your drive and dedication. Thanks for commenting 🙂
Been there dozens of times in my 75 years. Especially during the INA days… making the INA conventions function perfectly. I put these concepts to good use. Thanks Dr. Wes you rock!
You are the ambassador of life-wisdom...and a top-class encourager. Thanks for your comment.
Excellent lecture Wes! Looking forward to my next opportunity. Thanks
You are the ambassador of opportunity creation my friend!
This is incredible 😂
Sorry it wasn't a Subaru 🚙🤪
Incredible Word!
Very much appreciate you taking a moment to watch the video and comment!
Great stuff. Number 6 is harder than it sounds. We have to stretch ourselves to go beyond our default.
Insightful point you make. We operate so much of our lives on "auto-pilot," so going beyond this requires being intentional...which requires more mental energy!
Good word Wes!
@@thebarnabasgroup Thank you my friend. Coming from you, the leader of The Barnabas Group which specializes in encouragement…I appreciate your feedback 🙂
Excellent Wes, thank you 😊
@@barbaragustavsen5103 Thank you Barbara…I’m delighted to be connected with you through my Friday “Making Life Better” videos 🙂
@MakingLifeBetter-withDrWes i am blessed by you, again!
Over time, small things add up to big results.
So true. I have lived it many times over!
Hi, how would someone contact you if they wanted to get counselling? I don't see any contact info on your channel page.
Glad that you reached out. While my video channel is not designed to be a funnel into my private practice, I do want to help you in any way that I can. Best to contact me through my website: www.drwesbeavis.com
Hello Brother I am contacting you because I am following your RUclips channel and I am fascinated by your content. Your video quality is very good and you are struggling a lot but not getting good results. I found some problems in your channel, your channel videos are not related to SEO. That's why the videos are not getting views and subscribers. If you SEO your videos, your videos will rank on RUclips. You will get good results from RUclips. Your channel will grow faster. If you want I can help you.
Hey thanks for caring about my efforts in producing videos. I really appreciate the feedback and you taking time to let me know what you think. I have know idea what you mean by "your channel videos are not related to SEO." I have so much yet to learn about this RUclips world. But I do know a lot about psychology! Thanks again for your comment 🙂
I LOVE the sticker on your notebook!! 🥹
Yep! Good friends of mine gave that to me. They live in Spain...you probably know them!!!
Terrific video!
Thanks for being a solid supporter!
I love the little things in my life! Thank you for sharing !!!❤
Thanks for being a "Making Life Better" advocate. You make my life better!
Is it failure or that your expectations, regardless of realization or not, was not met???
You make a really good point. I'm going review what I recorded! Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it.
Hunting and being in the outdoors does it for me!
Young people today live in the imaginary world of social media/ music via earphones!!
@shelleycharlesworth5177...your observation is on target. Sometimes I wonder whether audiologists in the future will have a booming business treating patients who are experiencing premature hearing loss due to heavy headphone usage. It's also possible that young people, being naturally reactionary, may start a revolution of getting back to simpler, quieter ways of going through the day. We'll see. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate you!
Some of use wear ANC headphones to get quiet time.
That's true. I admire your discipline. When I put headphones on I reflexively want to start listening to something! Thanks for taking the time to comment 🙂
I just spent a lot of time floating on a river and there were several quiet moments. It was fantastic!
There is something about being near water and experiencing quiet moments. Your river floating sounds divine! Thanks for sharing your experience @christianwitt30.
This video is so challenging… thank you again
You are welcome my friends. I so appreciate your kind feedback. Thanks for all that you are doing to connect with people!
Great video. I enjoy the early morning with coffee and reading God's word. Thanks!
Same...except it would be a cup of tea for me! Thanks for the emboldening words.
Rick Ketchum Best one so far Wes I delivered for Craft Foods to the Balboa Island Market where the ferry docks for several years. What a flashback 25 years ago.
Rick...If I was a driver making deliveries to Balboa Island, I would have found it very tempting to hang out there the rest of the day!!! Thanks for your comment and kind endorsement on my video. You're a champion 🙂
Great video Dr Wes! Reminds me of when I first heard the question do you value yourself as a human doing or human being . I heard someone say my worth was tied to my production and when I wasn't producing i thought I wasn't worth anything and it hit home. Love the suggestion on quiet time...
@barbaragustavsen5103 I should have interviewed you before I produced this video!!! You have provided some profound thoughts in your comment. Thanks! I will fit them into another video. I appreciate you 🙂
@MakingLifeBetter-withDrWes Thank you, however your video was excellent!!! It's the quieting of my mind that can be a challenge and more than a few things to unlearn or relearn to do so, lol
Sitting in a deer stand is also verrrrry quiet! Good stuff as always.
Thanks @OmahaJayhawk. As a doctor, I can write you a "wellbeing prescription" for substantial time in a deer stand 🙂
dont yourself sell short
@IvanLachrymose...yes, I did wonder whether it would be read that way! Thanks for commenting :-)
Thank you, Dr. Wes! I appreciate your insight on how I can combat my laziness
Well my friend...you can't be that lazy...you made the effort to comment and that makes my day! Thanks for connecting. Looking forward to building on it 🙂
Fantastic! Keep them coming!
Thanks for your comment. Glad to be on the journey with you. Great days ahead!
Thanks Wes
@SapphireBlueTravelExplores...Great to hear from you. Hope you are doing super well.
I have a fb friend Oleh in Ukraine. He’s an amazing guitarist and played lead guitar on Augustwolf’s “Visual Music”. It is on RUclips search “Augustwolf” I do enjoy your inspiring insight into making life better! Thank you When were you in Ukraine?
I was in Ukraine in June of this year. Looking forward to going back...hopefully in 2025. One of my favorite vocalist's, Serge Tiagnyriadno (Kiev, Ukraine) sang lead with Leonid and Friends (Russia-based band). He left the band to return to defend his homeland. Ukraine has some talented musicians! ruclips.net/video/XEDatFQ3m98/видео.htmlsi=q5Sw6VP5Szu57n80
Great video
Thank you Doctor. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!
Thank you 😊
@@barbaragustavsen5103 You are welcome my friend. Thanks for checking in 🙂
Well my friend, we both have been there together. Glad to see you running through the desert!
Yes...both seasoned desert runners! New Mexico has some great places to film too :-)
This was really good for me today. I had not been thinking about it this way. Thank you.
@patrickmalone1618 thanks for letting me know my friend. I'm glad you found this helpful. I'm cheering for you!
“Is it worth it?” Absolutely! The desert times are both the hardest and most rewarding experiences. Great stuff as always!
Great comment from a masterful desert warrior...you are an inspiration! Thank you :-)
Great stuff is usually hard to do … Helpful concepts. Hi Dr. Wes🖖🏽
Pete...thanks for watching AND for checking in my friend.
Thanks Dr Wes.
And thank you for taking a moment to let me know. May you have countless nights of refreshing sleep!
Sound wisdom!
Thanks for your comment. I learned this from discovering that perfectionism is often at the root of procrastination!!!
This resonated with me so much. I am a recovering perfectionist who has learned that peace begins where expectations end. My very wise teenage son used to tell me "Mom, sometimes good enough is good enough!" He was right.
@cathyphillips679 ...First of all, your son is very wise indeed, and I think your influence has a big part in developing that wisdom within him! Thanks so much for your inspiring and thoughtful comment. I really appreciate it.
Any advice for folks that have a more dysthymic issue (long standing blahs) going on?….even just answering the questions you posed could be a problem.
@AliMacAzz...first of all, I am really grateful that you took the time to comment. Your thoughts are super valid. Persistent Depressive Disorder makes one's journey tougher for sure. If that condition is what you are carrying, I'm impressed that you are still engaged in connecting with others...even with me on this forum. My specific advice in this situation is to keep working things through with your licensed clinical counselor...and to not give up hope that you can improve the quality of your journey. When you do get this figured out, you are going to be an amazing empathetic support to others who are going through this. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.
Enjoyed this video. I subscribed. I read a book about 10 years ago called "Eat Move Sleep" and I believe it you do those 3 things, you'll be OK. I have found over the 69 years of my life (so far) that if I get my body right, my brain follows. No more blahs.
@cathyphillips679...great comment. I like the way you say it; "If I get my body right, my brain follows." There is a lot of research that supports the benefits of exercise for mental health. I tell my patients all the time... I go to the gym primarily for mental health! Thanks for taking a moment to share your experience. You're an inspiration.
Just liked and subscribed. Very good-I also think hydration is essential to not feeling blah.....and taking vit d3. I gave up coffee and now have more energy and sleep. I eat plant-based and I limit alcohol. I meditate and do box breathing. I take acupuncture for stress and anxiety. I have a gratitude journal. I volunteer.I have pets I adore and friends. Keep up the excellent videos!
@shelleycharlesworth5177...thank you for your thoughtful comments. Thanks for subscribing...it means a lot to me. AND thanks for the great thoughts of other resources that can help people recover from the blahs. You have given me superb material for future videos!
Definitely have experienced all three of these. For sleep, my wife recently downloaded a sleep app to track how well she is sleeping at night because she’s been feeling it. Great video!
You have the gift of encouragement...and thoughtfully so. Thanks for your comment and encouragement. I like the idea of getting a sleep tracker. That sounds really helpful.
Your videos are so creative!
Thank you so much for your comment. I am trying hard to make my videos interesting to watch. I appreciate you noticing my efforts. BTW, I also made a decision, when I decided to do weekly uploads three months ago, to not use "stock" footage. So all my b-roll footage I film or create myself. I am still learning how to develop my b-roll chops....but I'm learning lots and having fun. Thanks for watching and for your kind feedback. I really do appreciate it.
This was most favorable! Thanks for reminding me how to talk to myself favorably. 🖖🏽👍
@peteadams8016 I don't know what part of the world you reside. But if I am ever in your area, I'm buying you lunch!
@@MakingLifeBetter-withDrWes Dr. Wes you can find me in Yankee Hill just 15 miles north of Oroville off Hwy 70. I would love to reconnect with you in person! Where would I find you? I have been through a lot since the Amway days that I’d like to share with you. Happy Trails!!!
@@peteadams8016 I am in Orange County Southern California. If you are ever down this way, please let me know. 😁
“Excellence Evangelist” You should trademark that 😂
I was wondering whether people may misinterpret that phrase and think I was targeting evangelists with that scripting :-) You got it the way that I intended!!!
Been there many times! Thanks for helping me out with this dilemma.
Pete...you are the gold medalist in the Encouragement Olympics! Thanks for your comment. You know the high value of uplifting feedback :-)
I’m going to start using this video in premarital counseling. I’ve been using the apology test on the five love languages site, and this will be a great follow up!
My apologies for the delay in responding to your comment. I got caught up in producing this week's video! But, having said that, your comment is incredibly affirming. Thank you for all that you do in helping couples prepare for marriage. I'm glad my video fits nicely in your toolkit :-)
Thanks for all you do!
