Really informative video that I actually enjoyed watching. Well done and thank you!
Hi, I just wanted to tell you that your video was of immense help to me and allowed me to cover all the gaps I had in my preparation for the interview. I have been offered the role and I can't thank you enough for uploading this video. Take care!
@@ND-tj4ny congratulations and well done!
Thank you very much! I recently had an apprenticeship PWP interview and was successful! Your video helped give me a starting point, ensured that I was prepared for my interview and helped me feel a lot more relaxed than I thought I was going to be. Like you - there were so many things I thought I had missed saying to the interviewers but they said I nailed it and covered all the most important aspects so am I extremely happy that the work I put in to preparing and useful tips helped me achieve my dream job. I think what helped me most was ensuring my answers were linked to my own experiences, skills and real life examples from my previous career. They said I felt honest and genuine and evidenced my capabilities, rather than just listing off random skills or abilities.
Congratulations! Fantastic job. I am glad you were able to stay authentic to yourself while still hitting the interview criteria. Stuff like that can't be taught or replicated. You should be well proud!
Thank you for such great tips - it helped me a lot during my interviews. 🤍 I would love to know how the experience was like for you (as a trainee/qualified pwp)
Glad to hear it's helped :) I'll do a video at some point on my experience. Truthfully I haven't had time in the last couple years.
Thank You I Enjoyed Watching And Listening. I Am In A Foul Situation And Need Help.
I kept applying to jobs aimlessly without really thinking about the importance of an amazing and structured personal statement, after following your tips and personalising it to my experience I received 3 interviews! (2 Emhp's and 1 Pwp) hopefully I get one of them!
Wonderful! All the best in your interviews :)
Hi Vicky, this is a short message to say a big thank you. Watching your video again and again proved invaluable and so helpful! I listened to your suggestions, took notes and practised the answers aloud. And after the interview I was offered the job of the trainee PWP. I am in cloud nine! Thank you so much xxx
Well done and big congratulations!
Hi Vicky, I watched your video about tips for the personal statement and I have an interview! Amazing! Thank you so much for the information you provided, it was super clear and made perfect sense.
Hello Vicky, thank you for the video about people who have dementia. I watched it with a lot of interest because my mother has dementia. Everything you mentioned about the difficulties these people are experiencing, as well as the difficulties of people who care for them felt true. Thank you for the tips, they have been very helpful. I wish you make a video on how someone can begin grief work.
Hi there, can I ask if it is possible for non-psych grads to get trainee pwp roles? Many thanks! :)
yes, the apprenticeship routes don't require you to have a psychology degree.
@@vickilee2470 Many thanks for replying! Do you know any non-psych grads who have made it?
@@devikapunjabi1836 yes, loads :)
Hey Vicki, just wanted to say thank you for your invaluable tips - so helpful and clear to follow. I am a slightly older candidate than most, having been in a corporate career for a few years before making a career change into mental health the past year and half. I just applied to a trainee pwp role and waiting to hear if I might be fortunate enough to get invited for interview. People have said it should around now till end of the month, so I'm nervously checking my emails everyday!
Hey :) I was an older candidate too, and had a different career before making the switch. Good luck and I hope you get the invite!
@@vickilee2470 I see! I would love to see a video about your career change, if you're willing/happy to share! I have been wrangling with it for a year and half and although I have had a lot of people I am fortunate enough to be able to speak to for advice, none of them have done a career change in the same way (they had largely started their psych career from the beginning after undergrad)!
@@7nhlez I don't think my story is all that interesting, but I'll think about making a video! If you have any specific questions/prompts on what you'd find helpful, do let me know.
@@vickilee2470 Some of the main things that I have been managing on my own with the career change is just being a bit self conscious about being older than other people (although I'm aware that older candidates are definitely not uncommon with the PWP route), managing finances for a career change, and if I'm really honest, as a woman and with a partner, the thought of juggling family planning alongside a career that is just starting! I do think to be fair that a lot of these are things that are covered by other people who talk about career changes in general, but I haven't seen much about pivoting into a psych career specifically... the people who I have met who have gone into counselling or therapy in their later years just seem to kind of get on with it, but I feel like surely they must have felt a bit alone at some point in their journey? I don't know if there is enough there for you to make a vid about, but would just be reassuring in a way! Don't know if any of that makes sense haha, let me know if you had thoughts!!
@@vickilee2470just wanted to message you thank you again for your tips in this vid! I got the offer!! So chuffed and excited to start
Why can't you apply for the doctorate?
I don't qualify for funding.
Hello Vicki, do you have any tips/insights for international students to look for an AP post?
I have an interview tomorrow, your video really helped (and also made me realise how underprepared I am lol) Thank you!
All the best tomorrow! The video was very much based on my experience, others might not need as much prep :)
@@vickilee2470 I’m not very optimistic, I’ve only ever been a band 3, never worked in an assistant role and also don’t have a masters. I think I was lucky to get an interview but I’ll just give it my best shot.
@@vickilee2470 had my interview, I think it went well to be honest and your video helped me so much. Especially the answer about time management / self care, I could see they were really impressed by that answer so thank you for that!
I just wanted to say thank you for this video it helped me so much! I had my second interview for a trainee pwp role and I was successful! This video gave me a lot of tips and things to consider for the interview process.
Congratulations! Happy for you!
Hey vicki, i just found out i have a trainee child pwp interview coming up in a couple of weeks. I found this super helpful. Just out of interest how did you find the work-life balance of the course? Was it overwhelming or did you manage ?
This video is so helpful, thank you. When you talked about confidentiality at the start of the role play what did you say?
Thanks for this video, I did everything you said and I've managed to get through to the interview stage. Thanks for your advice, you're a good egg 🥚

Hi Vickee, It has been very helpful listening to your shared experience as Trainee PWP. I will soon be attending an interview on same role very soon. Thank you
All the best for your interview!
I had a CYPWP interview and unfortunately, I was unsuccessful, there was a question that I was confused about and was not sure how to answer. Coming from an educational background (LSA & SEN TA) my answer to the safeguarding question was not adequate. The interview question was as follows. A boy tells you that his dad is beating him at home. What would you do? Any tip on how to answer a question like this?
What was your answer?
I think you could say that you would react calmly, asking open questions, to find out more details to validate their statement. If you thought that a child is in an immediate danger, you could call 999. If not, then the information collected can be passed on to relevant safeguarding organisations, your manager informed, or police.
Thank you so much.....I am giving you a virtual standing ovation. The most useful and insightful video. Would you give us an update as to how you getting on since you started?
Well the lack of videos is a good indicator as to how I'm getting on! I have loads of ideas and some really good suggestions from viewers but have no capacity to film anything good quality at the moment. I'm glad you found it useful though, good luck in your own journey :)
Thank for your video! I followed your advice and I got the job. I’m so appreciative of people like you who take time to share with others 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I just got my offer this week! Thank you thank thank you for sharing this! Those FIDO questions saved me! ❤❤❤
For the experience aspect of the personal statement, is it fine to mostly base it on one closely related role if many parts of it aligns with the PWP role?
I recently applied for a trainee PWP role and just realised a lot of things I missed in my personal statement. This video really helped
Hi, how easy is it for an international student with a studnet visa and BRP card in uk to get into this course? Is it open to them?
Hi, I just wanted to hop on the train and THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!! Your video was perfect and it helped me get my trainee position! Honestly, great job!
Great job to you!! Thanks for the lovely comment :)
I have a trainee pwp interview literally tomorrow with a 10 minute roleplay at the beginning. This video has taken me from being a nervous wreck to feeling really confident. Thank you so much!
how did the interview go? fingers crossed for you!
Just got an offer for a PWP position and had no prior clinical experience. What I did observe is that almost all places will ask the same kind of questions, the offer I got was interesting because I didn't think it went well but they thought I was great! So the only thing I can add to all of your advice is that very unique non-clinical expereince can also play very heavily in your favour and make you stand out. Don't feel you have to be completely clinical to get these positions. I also overved this with a lot of other people.
Thanks for such a detailed vid!!
I don’t know who told me this but someone told me to mention the NICE guidelines - is this relevant? I’ve worked as assistant psychologist in CAMHS and HCA this is the next adventure and role I want
Thank you for sharing this! it helped me tons with having a good structure on how to prepare and i definitely felt less overwhelmed! I hope youre doing well <3
Thank youu❤❤❤.. Elated 💫🎉 ... 14:39 27/06 tue💒💒💖💫👌👌💛☀️🙏
And I was just about to wank off over my achievements too, hahaha!
Hi thanks for doing this video its proving really helpful whilst writing my personal statement. Just one thing though how long do you think is too long? I've got a first draft thats 2000 words currently and I'm unsure whether its far too long or not. any help at all massively appreciated.
I’m surprised they didn’t give you a word limit, I am applying in Sheffield and they’ve said no more than 1500 words.
Hi Vicki, thank you so much for your video! When you mention reading the iapt manual, do you mean the reach out guide? Thanks 😊
Do you think most people applying would have a masters?
I just wanted to come back here to say a big thank you. 6 months ago i came on here to prepare for an interview with less than 10 hrs to the interview. with the help of your videos, i am happy to say that i got the job and will be starting next week. God bless.❤
Congratulations and all the best next week! :) Glad to have been able to help in your journey

Great video! Perhaps you could do a video about building your confidence to go into roles like this? Xx
That's a brilliant idea - I'll have a think about it!
I have just come here today to thank you. I watched your video last week and have scrutinised myself guided by your advice. And after 3 years of unsuccessful interviews yesterday I was offered a job as trainee PWP. Thank you from the bottom of my heart xxx
Hi Anna I am so thrilled for you, huge congratulations! Don't forget to acknowledge and celebrate the hard work YOU put in! :)
Thanks for a video I have interview on Monday just doing the last preparations
Hi Vickie, thanks for this amazing content, it's been veryhelpful. I got the job offer for a high-intensity PWP Trainee role, however, later they said I was not eligible for the funding and salary support because I was on a graduate visa. I couldnot find any relevant information on any of the available resources and was wondering if you have met anybody who got into the programme withot havinga in-definite leave to remain in the UK
Hello, I have read something on the gov website regarding eligibility for apprenticeship funding for non-uk nationals. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1155957/Apprenticeship_funding_rules_2324_Version_1.pdf
Hi, can I know of any updates regarding to your situation? I have an interview for a trainee role today and I am also on the graduate visa. I’m afraid my situation might turn out like yours as well :(
Hey Vicki, I applied for a trainee pwp role in November and watched your channel to help me prepare for the two interviews they lined up. I got the offer call today at work. Your experience and advice were instrumental. Thanks a lot for making this video. I hope you're well.
Hi Nathan, thanks for your lovely comment and congratulations on your offer! Glad to hear your hard work has paid off and I'm absolutely thrilled for you! :)
@@vickilee2470 Thank you, that's much appreciated 😊
Thank you so much! This is super helpful as I have an interview on Friday and I have done prep but wanted to hear about someone else's experience 😊
All the best with your interview! :) Fingers crossed and I'm sure your hard work with prep will pay off!
Hey how did your interview go, I had mine last week
@@vickilee2470 Thanks so much. It went ok I think but I feel I could have given more on depth answers for some of the questions. It's a learning point I can take away for the future though 👍🏻😊
Can an international student apply for this course?
This video is so helpful to prep for the CWP/EMHP interviews too, thank you so much!
This video was super helpful thank you!!
Hi, not sure if anyone’s asked you this but can you apply for trainee PWP roles on a graduate visa? I’ve just finished my masters and I also did my BSc in the UK but most of the trainee PWP roles go hand in hand with the IAPT PGCert which doesn’t take on international students. I was wondering if you could just apply for trainee PWP roles independently without doing an IAPT course?
As far as I'm aware, you need to prove that you have right to work. The PG Cert is also funded, so you'll need to check if the grad visa gives you eligibility for those funds. The trainee role consists of both the uni course and in-service clinical work. There's no trainee role without the course - it's the course certificate that allows you to transition into a qualified PWP role after completing training. Obviously I don't know very much at all about the grad visa - If anyone else has info on the this please share!
Hey! hope you could figure out a way to do that? Let me know if yes. :)
I have my interview tomorrow and it will consist of all group work. Following which individuals will be selected for their one to one interviews. I have never had a group interview and am very confused about where to start with prep for this or what sort of activities to expect. Any advice?
Hi, I know it’s been a while but how did your interview go? I have an all day interview which includes group activity, any tips would be helpful thank you.
