Samford Gold Mine Exploration Digs
Searching for some obvious gold mine exploration digs from LiDAR images at Samford Conservation Park, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Approx. date of diggings 1800 - 1950's. Underwhelming after last week's gold mine workings at Bunyaville. These ones today, I don't think are recorded or documented anywhere. I stopped off to see a bonus small dig at Bunyaville, just off the Jinker Track. #goldmines #bushwalking #gold #drone #djo #djineo

Tasmanian Trails - Mt Rufus Track

A short out & back along the start of the Mt Rufus Circuit in Tasmania. Approx 3km up and 3km back. Another wet morning with constant rain made for heavy waterlogged boots. It still was a beautiful track. Many trees down (old & new). Not surprised due to the howling winds in this location. I did leave my snake bandage and space blanket behind at camp by mistake. This played on my mind a bit to ...
Snowy Wild Camp at Shadow Lake Tasmania

A solo snowy wild camp at Shadow Lake, Tasmania during a Bushwalker Alert. No music track for this video. Cold, high winds, snow and rain. Well prepared with all the safety gear. Toasty warm sleeping overnight but walking and sweating, then things get cold. I called off my extended walk and retreated back to base at Lake St Clair. The right decision was made as snow on the peaks were way too de...

UNCOVERED! 90 year old car wreck
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.Месяц назад
In the 15 years of running and hiking through Bunyaville Conservation Park, I've never seen or heard about this car wreck. After recent back burning from parks, the car is now uncovered from Lantana and other forest growth. It is estimated the car is from 1939. A search on Trove has not shown any incidents of car crashes along Jinker Track. This leads me to believe this is a dumped car. A big t...

Cool, you took out the drone out to play =).. also what's with the music, sounds Chinese lol... that the same music from Asian dramas.
@@tofuhiker hahaha yes, it's just some random free music from the DJI store. The DJI NEO is a fun little toy. I wouldn't use it over cliffs or water.
put it up in the air for a park run.. I think it will be pretty cool.. especially at the start and those coming into the finish line..
Crickey - is there nowhere that people DIDN'T look for gold??
@@SteveMack back again on the southside of Samford Rd next weekend. I couldn't find a couple of mines a few years ago. LiDAR will make it easier to locate this time 😊
@@adventureswithgruntOh cool! I love T-Rock's use of LIDAR in his videos; awesome tech isn't it?!

That little drone is a real handy tiny camera tool! Haven't seen that before... Nicely done 👍👍

Sounds like you accessed the situation rather than assed the situation never be afraid rethink a plan! Snow is hard but a white out (fog) is deadly have navigated with compass and 30 foot of vision located a welcome hut 15 mins before dark. Ol boy once told me never aim for destination as if you miss it do you go left or right, rather pick the side with notable land mark so as to know direction for correction. anyhow enjoy your ventures n stay safe!

Is it controlled with a phone app?
@@OMY005 hey Andy 😀 It can be controlled by the phone app, controller or controller with headset. One can just press a button to scroll through presets on the drone itself. Height and distance can be set through the app. The drone will remember those settings.
Cool! its follows you.. nice new toy..
My first drone 😎 A few hiccups but it does ok for some B roll film. Easy just press a button and a few different flight modes. Like the Hover Air X1. It's not going anywhere near waterfalls 😂

Do you think someone had a wreck and pulled the motor and trans out and walked home with it???
Who knows what really happened here. We will never find out.
Back in the 20s, our government realised they had a booming industry opportunity - to build the latest & greatest cars locally in Australia. Nothing new there, other countries were already doing it, so too Australia, but they saw the risk to local manufacturing (in an era when many cars had bodies made by external companies who had pivoted from carriage building into car bodies). So they imposed hefty import tariffs on complete cars that were imported. The tariffs were much lower (to non existent) on chassis & driveline components, as we didn’t have that capacity locally (yet). The idea was, to protect what could be manufactured locally (like bodies and interiors), This forced the big car companies to either set up shop locally (like Ford did) or partner with local companies. As Holden were already building bodies locally for lots of car brands, GM saw the opportunity to partner with them - to the point they did a deal that saw Holden exclusively making GM bodies locally and assembling them from around 1927, and in 1931 bought Holden outright. Apart from imported specialty vehicles from Fisher body (like cabriolets) the vast majority of Chevs sold in Australia from the mid/late 20s until the later 60s were assembled by Holden, although they didn’t locally press US bodies after 1948 when the local Holden was introduced - the 50s & 60s Chevs (and Pontiacs) assembled locally came as CKD, but still had lots of other local content in them.
Thanks for that info. You know your car history. Cheers 👍
😂
Grant! you may have uncovered something here. The 1939 Chevrolet Sedan was used as Staff Cars by both the Australian Army and the RAAF during WW2. (Google "RAAF Chevy Staff Car") The army cars were notable in that they didn't have chrome fender grilles like the US domestic models had, rather the grill was bare steel and pressed into the fender like the one you have found. (So they could be painted military green not chrome). So maybe you've found an ex-military vehicle? There were hundreds of them and they were sold off pretty cheap after the war.
Great Video Grant. I'm going out this week to take a look! There is another really old wreck near "The Darkside" trail on Bunya Rd, opposite Dugandan. It's upside down in a ravine and pretty rusted out.
Hi Cam, there is another car a need to find near this one. This is in much better condition. The Minivan track obviously has a mini van but not much left of that one. Also one Rolo found from Old Northern Rd entry. I'm still trying to locate that one too. Next time I bump into Rolo, I'll get the location. Enjoy the explore. 🤙
Some guy out there wants that door handle . lol
Yeah, that door handle won't last long.
Cool find, looks realy dry there , up heer in the Northwest USA you could hide an elephant 10 feet of the road , brush so thick some places impossible to get off the road .
Was there a fire in that park? Seems to be charring on some of the trees.
@@diesela3 back burning before our summer hits us.
- if old cars could talk.
Canyons and River bottoms are littered with as yet undiscovered wrecked cars. Smallest yawn possible.
Statistically speaking, there is a 77% chance that was alcohol related accident.
Very likely in this situation 🍻
If it's a 1939 Chevy, it isn't 90 years old....yet! Give it 5 more years!
@@waynebutler7813 true 😂
It's a 1939 Chevrolet 4 door sedan.

@@The_DC_Kid It didn't when I posted my comment.
Yes, I've updated the description and thanked you for it. Much appreciated 😊
That's amazing. Wouldn't it be incredible to know who purchased the car, who owned it when it found its ultimate resting place, how it got there, why it was there, who stripped it, who actually used it over its life? Their stories? Fascinating. Thank you!
@@livenhfree Thanks for tuning in. I searched TROVE for any accidents along the Jinker Track area but nothing has jumped out at me to suggest it was this car. It is in pretty great condition compared to other wrecks in the area.
There is one just like it at the Morongo Valley Conservation Park.
Awesome. That's in California?

I lived in Rosebery for a short time. some days I could only hear birds singing nothing else. The rain forest areas are magic.
@@between666 Rosebery would be a bit chilly too! 😬 A special place for sure.
Interesting adits in this area. Fortunately we were able to work with QPWS to remove some of the artifacts for display (tools, track etc) before they were removed by trophy hunters. Again why I don't advertise the locations of these sorts of things.
A well formed path leads straight by it. Anyone doing the geocache will stumble across it. I don't trophy hunt. I understand your concerns. One needs to look at the 3 plane crash sites and how little is left. Maybe parks need to close off all entries to the mines. Obviously not a concern for this one as of others in the area that have been sealed and fenced. Unfortunately we are in the digital age. Alltrails, Wikilocs, Strava, everything is recorded these days. Bushwalkers will search for new areas to explore and this track pops up.
There are a lot of mines in the Camp Mtn area but many are now on private property. That first mine is actually on private property owned by one of my customers. Keeping these locations from general knowledge will ensure that people are not trespassing on or trashing the areas like has happened before.
I have seen the private property sign up further but didn't realise this one is on that property. I've removed links to it's location and won't visit this one again. Maybe your customer can put a private property sign down lower on his boundary as there is no fence line as per other properties nearby. All mine locations are easily accessible by a few clicks on the internet. Mines in the area are general knowledge to locals due to various sources.
It sure is a beautiful state mate! 👍👍
