Sorry to hear about Al. I knew him back when he lived with his mom in Hamden Ct. He was the guitar player in our band. And I traveled to Florida with him . Were were just hanging around checking out the hippy life. When he left Florida with some Michigan folks I was saddened. i'm glad I caught up to him last year to reminisce. Condolences to his family and friends.

Great points. There’s also priests in religious life, particularly Dominicans, Franciscans, Passionists, etc. growing up we always used a Christian name after father. Diocesan priests were addressed with their surnames. Of course, religious often take the name of a saint, nonetheless, I recently realized that the only time I learned the family name of a priest in religious life was when reading an obituary.

I've known the so called last rights given to someone who was on deaths door (as in, we honestly thought the priest wouldn't arrive in time) and the next day she woke up and asked for tea and toast. She's still alive and frail - but she doesn't have dementia anymore. Anointing of the sick is an accurate term, because sometimes it effects an actual cure.

Can’t a deacon also enroll you?
