With their charming black and white plumage and distinctive bobbing motion, these birds bring a touch of enchantment to the fast-flowing rivers and streams across Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, and North Africa.
Dippers are the only songbirds that can dive and walk underwater as they hunt for insects and small aquatic creatures. They prefer cold, clear waters and are often found in mountainous and hilly regions, where they build their nests close to the water's edge. Their presence by the bubbling brooks and snowy banks adds sprinkles of miracles in nature. Their unique plain beauty and tenacity are inspirational indeed.

Lovely birds of North European and American lands. I think they are more handsome than North American cedar waxwings and Japanese waxwings. They rarely come to Turkey in heavy winter conditions in the north. They mostly feed on fruit especially the sweet ones and some insects in winter and reproduction season. I was able to record them in Rize thanks to friends who live in there.
