Welcome to the Charnwood Borough Council RUclips channel.
Communal cleaning company demonstrate how they clean Council properties
A new contractor has been appointed to clean communal areas in the Council’s housing blocks.
AAFD Services, based in Coalville, Leicestershire, has been appointed to clean the areas following a procurement and evaluation process involving officers and a tenant member of the Housing Management Advisory Board.
AAFD works with other local authorities on similar contracts.
The contract is based on a specification - a list of things that the contractor must do when cleaning the blocks. The new specification is different from the old one and we have listened to residents’ concerns over some aspects of the service over the past four years. Some of the main changes are:

This council is deluded, they will have to put a dome over their council area to keep the nasty polluted air out. The lanyard says it all.
I remember Louis and his brother when you were both youngsters starting to work on the market with your father.... Lovely stall and lovely family.
It would be useful if we could see the slides that are being presented please. It would be best if these were added in real time to the video, but an interim solution could be a link to a file containing the slides. Thank you.
Upstream planning (Or lack of it.)L leads to downstream flooding! I'm not sure of the catchment for Quorn but Woodbrook starts up at Charley and Hermitage Brook starts at Loncliffe. The canal was overtopped by Woodbrook at Canal bank. Heavy rain WILL cause this to happen again. Welcome to the effects of gravity - water flows downhill.
Great to have a revamp of a popular cafe❤
Very pleased that the committee voted unanimously in favour for the solar farm in Shepshed/Long Whatton.
Great breakdown. Good job.
i have a pertition for expantion
Any discussion about preventing canal overflowing? Perhaps it'll be less costlier preventing it in the first place than spending so much after it happens.
What about Mountsorrel. We are never mentioned in any reports of flood yet we got flood just as bad as other villages
I seem to recall that the GCR bought dismantled and put into storage a locomotive shed of some size. The plan was to rebuild it when unifacation was complete at some other location.Either I was misinformed or the plan was scrapped.
The plan was scrapped after testing on the former tip site revealed that the site wasn't suitable to be built on.
Great stuff
Further to my last comment Loughborough has traditionally been 6 floors or lower which makes this an attractive low lying town, not gradually turning it into a city with high rise buildings.
I would suggest for future Charnwood Borough Council planning meetings for student accommodation proposals to do a supply and demand study for evidence. To actually get the height of the building proposed and the actual height of the nearby buildings for evidence. I would suggest the councillor who left for another meeting should have stayed for the Limehurst discussion. In terms of HMO buildings students in general tend to like in their first year to be in a Hall of Residence whether this be university owned accommodation or privately owned accommodation, in general students in their second or third year tend to like to be in HMO,s because it is cheaper and part of progressing in life.
I always thought Taylor's foundry worked like a lambic brewery, where you don't disturb the dust so the "magic" continues to work. I hope to get a chance to see the renovations in person.
game me old G hall and you all game ann golden butt what you have not seen is our dales vids 🤣🤣🤣

Great video as it shows what great kiosks and rides are there 🎉❤
Great job ,we need more people like you but really need people to stop littering . 😢USA
Hugely disappointing that since the PR you've abandoned this project and won't even talk to Hathern Parish Council!
The acronym is fantastic! 💯

But wouldn’t the shed complex need to be dismantled to make way for the GCR’s reunification project as it is in the way. If this was the case, then obviously they would need to find a new place for the MPD which will be hard as the railway is surrounded by housing estates..
Apparently a single track going around the side of the shed
@@supersprinter1564 Correct,a single line is planned to go down the left side of the shed.
Not anymore..... sheds going in favour of the original 2 road alignment over the canal bridge. Location of new shed tbc
@@localchap31and will be tough seeing as the GCR is surrounded but housing
How lovely thank you
Absolutely clueless to what the people of Shepshed want! Total waste of money, not to mention the disruption whilst it’s being completed
Totally 100% agree.. and the 2.5Mil£ is only an estimate not a firm quote, just ask you local councillor 👍😉😉
Do we Iive in russia
I know sea levels are rising, but not sure it will ever be Shepshed-on-Sea as shown here.
yep ... Shepshed-on-sea in this video LOL
There is nothing in Shepshed so why is money being spent on this?! You go for a coffee and cake on a Saturday afternoon and the cafes are shut, there aren’t clothes shops. You should be providing amenities
Much less parking for no obvious gain. How much did this cost to produce? I'm betting thousands!
Looks lovely!
Cool 👍🏼
Also needs graffiti painted over on underside of bridges aswell; please don't leave it to the residents to communicate with the Highways Department to ensure this is done. Thanking you in anticipation this will be done.
Keep strong guys. Ukraine WILL win 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
This was a superb idea. However you should've promoted this to a much bigger audience - maybe through BBC Nottingham, BBC Leicester and BBC Derby; it's not too late to do this all it takes is a phone call. This would promote Loughborough/Charnwood in a positive way. ❤ I look forward to hearing this story on the national news 😊
Hi John. Thanks for your comment and glad to hear that you enjoyed the video. The local media were invited to the bell casting with BBC Radio Leicester, BBC East Midlands Today, ITV News Central and Fosse 107 all attending. It was broadcasted on their news bulletins on the evening of the bell casting which was on March 16. Unfortunately with it being a couple of weeks ago, it seems I can't send you a link to rewatch their news shows. Thanks, ^Lewis.
Cleaning these roads twice a year does not meet the EPA as they often fall well below standard and response times are not being met ! How much has the Councl save by breaking this legislation & contract condition ??
Would be nice to have some info like size and weight, and a bit more about the manufacturing process.
Hi, The Hope Bell structure will be around seven and a half metres tall. It will be a clock chime installation so will have five bells in total, four quarter chime bells and the main Hope Bell. They will be made of a special type of bronze called ‘bellmetal’ which is an alloy of copper and tin. The furnace at Taylor and Co is heated to 1,000 degrees centigrade before casting. Once the molten metal is poured into the mould it remains buried in sand for several days to cool gradually. The bell is then broken out from the mould, cleaned and then tuned before a final polish, a process that can take several weeks. Three of the quarter chime bells have already been cast and you can see them being made in this video. Here are some details about each bell The Hope Bell (the hour bell) - will weigh over a ton at 1,270 kilograms (25 cwt) and will have a diameter of 149 centimetres (4ft 11in). It will play a D note. Quarter bell 4 will weigh 406 kilograms (8cwt), measure 89 centimetres (2ft 11in) and play an A Quarter bell 3 will weigh 228 kilograms (4.5 cwt), measure 70cms (2ft 3.5in) and play a D Quarter bell 2 will weigh 203 kilograms (4 cwt), measure 63 centimetres and play an E Quarter bell 1 will weigh 152 kilograms (3 cwt), measure 56 centimetres (1ft 10in) and play an F# More info: www.charnwood.gov.uk/hopebell
