Nanci Griffith - A Compilation Of 202 Nanci Griffith Songs Arranged To Create A Wistful Lament
Просмотров 10 тыс.9 лет назад
It tells the story of a long distance driver who writes a letter to his ex-girlfriend when his vehicle gets stranded in the snow on a mountain, telling her how a song on the radio reminds him of his past experiences in Vietnam where his best buddy was killed and how he struggled with life when he returned, becoming an alcoholic who tried to find love with a hooker. Then he reminisces about his ...

Miss you so much, Nanci 😢
so nice!
Two great souls that have gone beyond the great divide.
My dad - John - was KIA in 1968. That line brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.
This performance, that happened upon by sheer luck/chance in 1985, forever changed my life. RIP beautiful Nanci.
I discovered this incredible human being over ten years ago... Or Maybe she discovered Me... regardless, She and her music literally saved me during the darkest time in my Life... parents death, divorce, children grown and gone, forced retirement after 34 years... Yet here I am... Nanci Griffith is a gift to all of us... Those of you who know Her and her musical peers are blessed... I know I am... Go to Rest Nanci in that five and dime that smells like popcorn and bubblegum rubbed around on the bottom of a leather sole shoe... And take that elevator note... going up...
Nanci is magical!
🥰😍
I took care of performers backstage at Kerrville Folk Festival, Nancy was so very kind performed every year for years. She was special and so kind. It was a privilege to hear their music, Nancy Griffith, Bill Stains, Alan Damron, Guy Clark, Lyle Loveitt, Peter Paul & Mary, Odetta,Kate Wolf,………Happy Times🎶
What a great job! So jealous...
I still love you Nanci Caroline Griffith.
I still love you Nanci Caroline Griffith.
No one gives her the the credit she deserves as a guitarist. She’s incredible! In my opinion the most talented musician ever…..singer songwriter and instrumentalist, the complete package!
The female singer with Nancy is very Beautiful. 👑🌄💖💐🌈❤
When i hear Nanci sing i feel better about myself and the world, what a gem she was.🎶❤️
Dear Nanci. Gone too young.😥
😢💔 Ill always love you Nanci. Rest easy girl
She wasn't really a country girl and her parents were fairly well to do active democrats and she was encouraged to become musically active in an effective way. I remember seeing her on NPR, probably Austen City Limits in the mid 80's. I became immediately curious and was quite the fan for the next ten years. As my political awareness grew I realized she would never be mine
I'm older, and I am a man, who was once a boy, of course. But this song gives me a lump in my throat, about MY childhood. Because it is so relateable and the melody and voices are so evocative. What a piece of art this is.
She’s a master storyteller blended with a sweet voice…
One of the most beautiful and talented people in the world. I hope to meet her again, someday!
Miss this lady❤
My sister's name is Mary Margaret ❤ I dedicated this song to her! ❤
Oh my goodness . . . . what a treasure and a blessing.
Still as beautiful as the first time I watched this live on Breakfast TV here in England.
Such an amazing talent.
Nancy se fue.....al cielo
I feel, Buddy is still with us.
Nice! 💜
We've lost so many great performers these past few years: Tom Petty, Jeff Beck, Tony Rice, John Prine, and so many others. I was crushed when John passed, but i don't think i'll ever get over Nanci's passing. 😢💔

The grace of ELH is that she never tried to outshine artists she collaborated with. Griffith did a fine job covering one of Kate Wolf's most beautiful songs.
The world is a better place because Nanci Griddith lived here.
I’m from England and only discovered Nanci about six months ago - I feel cheated missing so many years when I could have been listening to her.
Nancy had the pleasure of seeing you 3 times miss you always
Modern country music is insufferable. If they continued to play music like this the great divide would become obvious - so they don’t.
❕❕❕❕
Emmylou Harris will be performing in July, in Halifax, Nova Scotia ... can't wait to hear her; she will love the audience.
So wonderful to see and hear this. Nacy Griffith, Emmylou Harris together singing, in my opinion, the greatest of all Kate Wolf's songs! Thank you!
❤ You and John Denver both did a great job 😊
It just don't get better than that!
Thought we had time miss you
One of my favourite songs of hers. Beautiful
There's a light beyond these woods, Mary Margaret. Do you think that we will go there, And see what makes it shine, Mary Margaret? It's almost morning, and we've talked all night, You know we've made big plans for ten-year-olds, You and I. Have you met my new boy friend, Margaret? His name is John, and he rides my bus to school, And he holds my hand. He's fourteen, he's my older man. But we'll still be the best of friends, The three of us, Margaret, John, and I. Let's go to New York City, Margaret! We'll hide out in the subways And drink the poets' wine, oh, But I had John, so you went and I stayed behind. But you were home in time for the senior prom, When we lost John. The fantasies we plan, I'm living them now. All the dreams we sang when we knew how, Well, they haven't changed. There's never been two friends like you and me, Mary Margaret. It's nice to see you family growing, Margaret. Your daughter and your husband there, They really treat you right, But we've talked all night And what about the light, that glowed beyond Our woods when we were ten? You were the rambler then. The fantasies we planned, well, Maggie, I'm living them now. All the dreams we sang, oh, we damn sure knew How, but I haven't changed. There'll never be two friends like you and me, Maggie, can't you see? There's a light beyond your woods, Mary Margaret.
Nanci Griffith Always Loved, Never Forgotten Forever missed.
Gorgeous harmonies!
I saw them singing in front of the Legislature in Victoria BC during the Commonwealth Games 1994. That was the only time I saw them sing.
First time heard thanks for the post
I wish that you loved me The way that I love you I wish I had Angels Who sang in my dreams If wishes were changes We'd all live in roses And there wouldn't be children Who cried in their sleep He wishes I loved him The way that I love you If wishes were changes I'd dry all his tears If wishes were changes I'd make him my anchor He'd be my Angel Who sang through the years So long to the blue days of wishing If wishes were changes There'd be no goodbyes So long to the heart I have given 'Cause wishing won't bring back The love in your eyes I wish that I had your Wings of desire I wish I had seen you As I see you now I wouldn't feel sorrow You've left here inside me But, wishing won't change Right from wrong for you now So long to the blue days of wishing If wishes were changes There'd be no goodbyes So long to the heart I have given I wish that you loved me The way that I love you I wish I had Angels Who sang in my dreams
How did she pass?
What year was this..I’m going to guess between 2003 and 2005
Ein wunderbares Lied, eine tolle Stimme nur schade das sie nicht mehr ist.
Just beautiful !! we lost a good one..rest in peace Nanci
