Cisco Meraki - MX - Configuring Static Routes
In this video. The main focus is on creating a static route for the MX to reach a sales VLAN hosted on the layer 3 core switch. Currently, the MX doesn't know how to get to the VLAN, causing traffic to be dropped. I demonstrate how to configure the static route on the MX so it could reach the Sales VLAN hosted on the layer 3 switch.

Cisco Meraki - MX - Routed Mode vs Passthrough
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.9 месяцев назад
In this video, I will explain the differences between routed mode and pass-through mode on an MX Security Appliance under Addressing VLANs page. Routed mode is the default mode when you order an MX and it offers features like a stateful firewall, content filtering, and intrusion detection. It uses network address translation (NAT) to change the source IP address of packets. On the other hand, p...

Thanks for the video. I just have one doubt, what about inter vlan routing, can sales and finance talk to each other with this config on MS? Do they require transit gateway to talk to each other?
This is the case with single router but how about when there are multiple routers in different locations? how to setup static routes so both network users can talk to each other. Please make a new video. Thank you for making a clear view on Static Route on Vlan
Excellent video. Excellent video. Excelente vídeo. Great video Ótimo vídeo I would like to ask a question, I have to configure two units in different locations (Branch x Headquarters), but they are directly connected. In this case, I am replacing a network with DMVPN to implement SDWAN. I understood that routed mode would work for me, is that right? I have an ISP >> ASA >> Switches and the Meraki will be connected to the ASA to establish the L2L VPN with the other unit. I would use OSFP to announce the networks, is this a normal configuration or are there problems with this design?
Thank you for posting Meraki-related stuff, I'm new to this platform and have gone through your videos. Nice and simple explanation. waiting for your next Meraki video
Welcome aboard!
Great tutorial, thanks!
Glad to help!
Thank you : ) I've been an IT Professional for over 12 years. My current role involves Supporting Meraki. This was a Great Tutorial. I'm Now a subscriber and promise to share 👍🏾
Really appreciate it hope to add more videos soon!
Thanks, helpful video. Why did you leave VLAN 1 on the MX? Also, why have the VLAN 5 MGMT VLAN on the MX at all? You didn't add VLAN 5 to the L3 switch, and can't you use the transit VLAN interface on the MX as MGMT (or just use VLAN 1 as the MGMT VLAN across the board)? Also, would love to see Meraki add full OSPF support on the MX so we can get rid of this static routing nonsense.
Thank you for all the videos. I'm new to the Meraki platform. I can't wait for the next one, but it seems like it's been two months since you last posted anything on Meraki. Hoping to see more Meraki-related content soon.
Thank you for your support! I will be releasing a few more videos hopefully soon!
Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. The only thing I didn't catch was setting the static IP/vlan on the MS itself, but I was able to fill in the blanks. Cheers!
Glad it helped!
Thanks for illustrating with the diagram ❤ I loved it . Great job
You're welcome 😊
