This brought tears to my eyes. My mother used to call me bi-polar anytime I showed strong emotions, instead of teaching me how to manage them internally. Now I teach my daughter how and give her a safe space to express all her emotions.
That is such a beautiful gift to your daughter to feel safe in expressing emotions. I hope you are also able to feel safe in your own and send your younger self love and compassion. 💜
It doesn't have to mean the people who raised us were creating the pressure. It's in the nature of living and learning that we see these connections. And then, in the nature of anxiety that we begin to fear that any change in one (performance) will mean a change in the other (being loved). Now that we're grown is when we can teach ourselves differently.
Yes, it’s through the beliefs that were established that we created these patterns of thoughts and we hold them as truth until we realize we have the power to transform our beliefs.
I-do all of these things..
Many of the patterns of fawning stem from beliefs we carry from childhood and these behaviors create a sense of “safety”. Yes, those are definitely ones that are hard to hear. When you are aware of your subconscious beliefs, you can take action in changing them. The perfectionist tendencies I had years ago are much more in check now (even though they’re not gone), but it is much easier to see them pop up and choose a different belief. It takes some time and conscious awareness, but it is possible.

Listening to the counsel of others and questioning your intuition is not _abandoning_ yourself, it's called learning. In the psychological studies world intuition is more accurately referred to as the Dunning Kruger effect, whereby the people who know the least are the most confident about their knowledge. Terrible advice.
Receiving guidance from others is absolutely essential, however it is important to be able to decipher if that guidance aligns with your highest good and that is where trusting your intuition comes in. Abandoning yourself is when you blinding follow the counsel of others who may not have your best interest in mind or going against your inner knowing.

Yes, these messages are everywhere and society praises productivity. The pressure of the outside world places an ever-increasing demand on people and shames them for not meeting it. Knowing you are enough, anchoring into your worth, and giving yourself grace is essential. 💜
People think perfectionism is a choice 😓
It’s deeply rooted in our subconscious minds (often formed in childhood) where we associate perfect as worthy. We do not choose this, but we can reprogram our subconscious mind to move in a direction we desire.
