I loved your samus rework but this mario one isn't doing it for me. first of all it's incredibly cluttered grabbing a ton of references for just the sake of it. Mario needs to be simple he stands along side kirby as the most beginner friendly characters on the roster but not only in gameplay but in visual simplicity as well. Mario needs those punches and kicks to convey an attack's purpose (for example his forward air) and for his design to function and making everything a powerup goes against that and ESPECIALLY if he actually turns into the powerup he's using. Imagine if megaman changed colors with every attack or kirby swapping hats for each tilt it'd be confusing especially for newcomers. (also it feels weird not changing the outdated down special and instead changing up special he's a platforming icon and his up special is literally him platforming) While I understand the thought process and see where you're coming from after all it's fun to celebrate a character and making their moveset a sort of time capsule of their history and it can be easy to fall into the trap of making everything a reference if you look at the current designs in smash the most successful tend to celebrate the character not through putting everything in the kitchen sink and more but rather through personality and gameplay k.rool's tricky counters and full of himself personality are great examples of this.
