Balancing Eobot
Просмотров 653 месяца назад
This is Pendu, my new balancing robot. It is still very much in early stages of the build, and it requires a lot of PID tuning (and other coding), but its coming along. In the video, I'm using an UnexpectedMaker TinyS3 (running MicroPython) and a BNO085 9-axis IMU. I've very recently switched to an ICM-20948 IMU, since I can talk to it over I2C from the ESP32-S3. Big plans for this robot, inclu...
Roz and the URC

Here's a short video showing Roz having a mission started and paused using the URC, and the URC getting and displaying real time telemetry data from the robot (watch the heading as I rotate the robot on the stand).

I decided to port Roz's code to Squeak Smalltalk, and this video shows the first real (short) walk done, controlled completely onboard by Squeak, running headless on the Raspberry pi zero w 2.0.
Museum Creek Line

Running a line along the creek behind the Archeology Museum in London, ON. It was a hot day (32C), and the camera overheated a couple times, so there are a couple jumps/skips in footage that shouldn't be there.
Cabra-Stump Launch

A very short video a friend took of my Cabra (and another truck) launching off a tree stump from a dead stop. Note that my battery was down to about 11.2 volts at this point, so nowhere near full (12.6 volts).

Another SCX24 on the Rocks in the Greenhouse
Просмотров 362 года назад
Another lap around the 1/10 scale course in the greenhouse. Running LGRP Trail Kings now, and I really like them. Also running LGRP front axles - hopefully I won't break any more. Asute watchers will also notice the right rear shock was undone, and really close watching will show the exact moment where the spring fell off (which we successfully retrieved the next day).

Manual Milling with a Sherline CNC Mill
Hey! What library’s are you using? I looked at TFT_eSPI for display, but I’m having trouble finding one for touch. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks!
Super cool Jon!
missing sumo robot in the configurator! btw, I am still very active in 3kg sumo robots. I am participating in robogames next week with my 3kg with magnets!
That’s really cool to see! I’ve been looking for the just screen on its own with capacitive touch for a PCB project
You can buy just the touch screen from Waveshare - www.waveshare.com/product/displays/lcd-oled/lcd-oled-3/1.28inch-touch-lcd.htm
@@JonHylands I ordered one today. I’m very excited!
This looks familiar.
Waveshare makes good products. How is MicroPython to work with?
I really love MicroPython - it makes doing embedded stuff reasonable for someone like me, who is not an expert C programmer.
Impressive!
Neat stuff jon
Very nice project!
Ran that line with Cody Judy recently it’s changed a lot but was still an awesome line
Hey jon nice work that is one crazy bot there!
Nice job. Squeak rocks!
Awesome! The Smalltalk comeback!
Amatör kamera.
Hi Jon, I was searching for Sherline Mill Videos (I just purchased the 2000 Model & own the 4000 Lathe) and came across your wall. 👉Did you have MANUAL SETUP before the CNC Setup you have? Or did you jump in with this machine starting out? Being totally new to Machining I’m just curious. As I wanted to get my feet wet with the equipment I currently have & aspire to get to the CNC setup In your video😁 How do you like Sherline? Personally I feel it was the best decision I made as a greenhorn guy. Cheers! ZenModeling
Hi Zen, I had a vertical milling column I used on my lathe (completely manual) for many years before I got my CNC mill. I strongly advise you to learn how to do it manually before you get a CNC.
You have a riper on the job, usead the dam think, that's a wrong bucket for the job . ..
The Rooster or shark tooth heads would of given u firewood with only 1/3 soil disruption. Now u still have to deal with giant stump.
Not my problem, and we needed many of the larger roots to be gone as well, which is why they dug so much out. Keep in mind this happened something like eight or nine years ago - I don't even live in the same town now.
Down on the south 40, I would have just left it.
The reason it was removed is because it was smack dab in the middle of where our new septic field was going to be.
That's pretty cool!

Selling chassis or file?
No, sorry, not at this point.
Hello Jon, Did you have CNC experience before buying this mill? If not, was it difficult to learn the process of programming and mastering the machine. I am looking at a 5400 series, to be used for very shallow cuts in removing
(sorry, I accidentally pressed send) a depth of approximately 1/8” in steel. I have absolutely no machining experience but I would like to learn. Thanks for the video.
@@haroldkreye8770 I did not have any experience. Your best bet is to join one of the home machining groups on Facebook, or a sherline group there, or one of the forums. I have no training as a machinist, everything I do with mine has been self taught.
@@JonHylands Thanks, Jon, I’ll take your advice. Perhaps I can find a group here in South Texas.
@@haroldkreye8770 Hi Harold, just noticed your message & noticed you might be in the South Tx area. Ive had my Sherline 2000 mill & 4000 Lathe several years now & always up to help…Lee
Good looking rig
You can use the hand wheels to do manual milling. Need to be careful about cranking too fast, the manual for your driver board should provide guidelines. I’ve considering wiring in two switches per motor to open the windings so the mill can be used in manual mode without worry. Edit: I put in double pole single throw switches to disconnect the stepper motors from my TinyG driver board for all three axes, and am now able to use the mill as a manual device without concern for the board. Works slick.
Looks like mini Capra 🚀💥 Nice build and crawling 🍿📺👍
Thanks. One of the guys on the Facebook group "SCX24 Mods and Fun" is building an actual 1/24 scale Capra, and it looks amazing.
That’s awesome!!
Nice!
Impressive ground clearance and suspension articulation. Those portal axles are awesome!
That thing is pretty dang stable!
Climb baby climb.
The tablet is the size of the mill!
What a mess.
Cool!
This took way too long and he dug way too much. Get someone that know what they’re doing.
Can Roz fetch?
Needs a thumb😀
😂😂 Im stumped with such a mess 💀
Wrong bucket for sure. And the excavator is set up wrong tracks wise.
Great video BUT you need to hold the camera still ...I got giddy watching it ( with respect)
👍👍
Roz is fascinatingly lifelike in the way it navigates that environment. Very impressive
Thanks. I'm just getting started with Roz, lots of good stuff to come...
@@JonHylands Cool! Building a simple quadruped from servos has been on my to-do list for ages. I've done enough research into it to know its a massive undertaking to do properly, so I am just going to live vicariously through your non-simple quadruped :-D
@@JasonSuterOssum Keep watching my channel then, and I have a project on Hackaday set up where I have a decent amount written down in addition to the videos, and of course I'm updating it on a regular basis - hackaday.io/project/176785-roz
Good Roz following orders.
That's awesome Jon.
I may not understand what you are talking but, I do understand that proper programing is very important. I like the way Roz moves around and the way it look. I may not understand it but, it still is cool to watch. 👍👍
Jon! It's been a while!! Glad you still make robots!! I love it. I occasionally build 3K sumo and mostly fly FPV drones!
Hey Jerome, I miss those days of epic mini-sumo battles. But I'm still having fun. I've seen a bunch of your FPV stuff on Facebook - pretty epic!
