    I would be happy to make a bet $$ that that odometer has rolled over a couple of times. It does not look/sound like a car with 200 miles on it. Yes it has been taken care of and garaged, but 200 miles, no way.

      I disagree. The generation who bought luxury cars back then for the most part still bought American. Which meant Cadillac or Lincoln. I knew several of those people back then. I think the switch really came about in the mid 80's and with the boomers, by the 90's it was pretty much complete.

    A 46 year old car with less than 200 miles, may not be a good thing actually. Do you think that those miles are from sitting, or possibly rolling without the odometer connected?

      If it has 200 miles on an old car all gaskets should be replaced be4 this thing turns into the Exxon Valdez

    • @retroguy9494
      @retroguy9494 5 дней назад

      Well, that all depends. Look at guys like Matt Garret and Jim Haley and their car collections. They both have some original low mileage cars like this 'still in the wrapper' as they call them. They run them regularly to keep the fluids moving and to keep the gaskets from drying out. But they do them in their garages on those 'roller' contraptions. So the car literally stays stationary but the wheels do in fact turn. That might have been the case with this car.

    No surprise when a kid gets a 5,500 lb. Lincoln they immediately think an Edelbrock branded air cleaner lid is an upgrade. Nice car, looks good in yellow. I would like one that has already been 4.6 2V swapped so I could actually enjoy driving it without experiencing financial ruin at the gas station. My brother had one with a 460, seemed like it was a steady 9 mpg no matter what.

    These Bare-Bones Lincoln's are very hard to find. In the 1970s up to the Mid-90s I learned as a kid . Our next door neighbor was a Sales Manager for Lincoln/Mercury & Always having a new car as my Dad & I would walk over to Look at this Week's Car. It was 1 time a Lincoln with Cloth interior & Dad asked our neighbor that Cloth was A Wow Factor. The Neighbor said LOOK at the REAR of the Car. Wat did we Notice he Asked us. We couldn't figure out, then he said it's DUEL EXHAUST. Ok So I'm thinking. He told us that Ford Produced a Limited amount of Bare-Bones. Cloth interior, Dual exhaust where to be Sold to Coach to get Stretched. The Leftovers which where Not Many that Coach didn't Buy, then got Sold at Dealership's.

  • @alankbonnette3137
    @alankbonnette3137 3 года назад

    A very handsome Continental. It is somewhat rare that's true, I have been fortunate to have seen a surprising number of them over the years starting when they were still new on the market. What I particularly like is the fact that they use the first style Lincoln Continental four pointed star as was seen on The Mark II in 1956 through the 1960s and on the 1970 to '71 models. On Town cars with Opera windows, the original Continental star was etched into the glass. All other emblems beginning in 1972 were either pinched into a narrower shape or in the case of the hood ornament, squarer in shape and the points of the star were shortened for safety purposes.

      Well it's his car it probably performs better with that open air cleaner and he doesn't have to worry about rust and those tires he has on there gives it a better ride and a better grip helps the suspension. 😎💯💥

    • @petermartinijr.1012

      It is confusing, but back then you had a Lincoln Continental, and a Continental Mark III, IV, or V. and other than both cars had Continental in their names, they were completely different cars. Starting in 1980, the Continental Mark VI was a more expensive version of the Town Car, with different front and rear styling.
