My Non Verbal Independence
США
Добавлен 28 ноя 2023
Growing up having autism, epilepsy as well as being non verbal comes with many, many challenges. This is a life of constant supervision for J but it's still important for her to embark on some independence. She is transitioning from being completely prompt reliant to some independence by learning to complete some of her daily routines on her own. J is embracing the step by step process and opening up to new activities and unfamiliar surroundings, as she engages more with others out of her familiar circle. She is listening to verbal prompts and using her observations of others to participate in new activities. She is also gaining confidence in social settings while connecting with some friends in her own way. She is making her own possibilities possible.
WELCOME to understanding J's world.
Please note - When J is in need of additional assistance, I will not be recording as my priority is the safety of J and her ability to convey her wants and needs, which requires my full attention.

Pardon my Paddle
This was an outdoor activity completely new to J with a constant movement needed to assist her partner with managing the kayak. She did a great job following verbal prompting to paddle left then right but didn't understand the "constant" part. J traveled along with water and through all the other kayaks, as well as boats and paddled her way back to shore.
