He had really good chemistry with everyone on that show but it was painfully obvious especially towards the end that Ali did not share that with him. I would have rather her character got killed off than his, though I guess she did in the end.

It looks like Missy it’s a character she had already played (maybe even created?). Before Big Mouth even existed: ruclips.net/video/iHL644bPAlc/видео.html I would guess she (them?) actually wanted to give black representation by making the cartoon version of that character bi-racial. But with time she realised that to give real representation it was better to step out and give the character to a black actress.
