I do think this is a very underrated example in the genre. For me, it fits in with the Airplanes, Naked Guns and Hot Shots(es?) and should be considered on par with those (and as someone else said, I think it's superior to Van Wilder) yet it's often left out when those films are listed, and hardly any of the online reviewers and reactors who frequently watch the ZAZ and other NL films seem to know of this one. A pity, as I thought it was a real treat.

It was set before the apocalypse of the second movie. Society and civilization are slowly collapsing and the countryside is reverting to a 'wild west' nature with only MFP standing between civilization and barbarism. Most of the cars are Ford Falcon XB sedans. The Nightrider's car is a stolen police car but is a Holden Monaro.

Criticizing a film you have not seen, and refusing to see the film you have decided to hate because it pushes against the grain despite the original being (for all intents and purposes) a remake of both Scorsese’s Taxi Driver and King of Comedy, and a pretty weak (and sensitive) interpretation of the Joker. I don't think there was much depth or substance to the early Star Wars books. They're basically screen plays or taken from screen plays, which are more for the screen than for the reader. I remember being a big SW fan and thinking it was cool that they had paperbacks coming out from the same world build. Took me a hal-hour or so to read the first and last one I bought. Maybe there's more meat on the bone in the later books.

Obviously not. There was a gradual decline in quality... unlike the Die Hard films, which took a sharp dip after Die Hard With A Vengeance. It's hard to beat the greatest 3rd film of a trilogy but boy, they REALLY screwed the pooch. Personally, I think they should've killed off Leo at the end of the second film. He shouldve been immortalized in his sacrifice. But no. They dragged him along for comic relief again and again. He ended up more obnoxious than anything

I love this film. I do feel, though, that when Charlie has been asked to accompany Detective Graham on a tour around town the lurch from being flirted with to a sudden realisation that he is a detective, is a jolt that could have been led into more delicately. It almost feels as if a few scenes have been cut at that point. Joseph Cotten is superb in the role but comes across much nicer in his true persona when he appears on "What's My Line" as the mystery guest (and fellow cast member of Arlene Francis) a decade or two later! Not my absolute favourite Hitchcock but in the top five and very tempting to visit Santa Rosa to see how much it has changed, followed by a short onward journey to Bodega Bay and visit "The Birds" locations.
