How will you get gritty to climb that mountain, reach that goal, do that hard thing? Let us know in the comments below!
Yes, those hacks do work. I like the idea of being able to 'trick' the brain.
It's crazy how easy it is to do once you know the factors that influence the way we think and make decisions. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Good video, but I would keep politics out of it and keep it in the professional sphere. My feedback.
Fair enough! Thanks for taking the time to watch and share your thoughts!
This is spot on!
Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Here are a few famous "threes" to get the ball rolling: the three primary colors (red, yellow, blue), a traffic light (red, yellow, green), the three states of matter (solid, liquid, gas), "rock, paper, scissors," and the three Olympic medals (gold, silver, bronze)...what else can you add?
omg this is 5yrs old.... and I had no idea that gut feeling was linked to the vagus nerve. It’s crazy how our body and brain communicate like that without us even realizing it. I’ve definitely felt those butterflies in my stomach before, but I never knew why. Love how you explained the science behind it, and now I’m definitely going to try those breathing exercises to activate my vagus nerve. Can't wait to see how it helps with stress!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I'm so glad this one resonated with you. It's crazy how much control we have over the sympathetic nervous system with simple breathing techniques.
This is spot on! Red, White and Rose for example🍷
Excellent!
Keep learning important
Absolutely! When we stop learning, we stop living.
So true. Aesthetics is important too in food and how they are presented. I actually hate those restaurants with nice menu pictures but when the food being served is nowhere similar to the menu pictures but looked like a bunch of jumbled up ingredients dumped into a bowl or dish!
Agreed! Creating expectations is only part of it. If those expectations are not met, our negative response is amplified. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
If you want to learn more about the science behind the Ben Franklin effect, check out my blog: www.melissahughes.rocks/post/how-the-ben-franklin-effect-makes-us-more-likeable Let us know if you give this likability strategy a try. And thanks for watching!
Priming really interests me as a schizophrenic! We're very susceptible to Hyper-Priming, due to our semantic network lighting up like a christmas tree during word-tasks and from linguistic stimuli. We make very far-reaching connections between concepts and ideas. Meanwhile, psychopaths on the other hand are much more immune to priming. My guess is this is due to at least two things: 1.) Emotional-barrenness, which means that it's harder to prime them into a state of mind that acts as a mode of functioning with different algorithms for behavior (as what emotions are)... and 2.) They're very keen around/about manipulation. They're usually the ones manipulating, not being manipulated. It's kinda scary to think about what if a psychopath who knew about priming had a relationship with a schizophrenic -- all the ways the psychopath could mess and play around with the schizophrenic. I coined the term "primer gauntlet", which is like using multiple primers consistently down a planned path with multiple steps so to make someone change into the way you want in a way meanwhile they're unaware and helpless to what's going on. I'm thinking of writing a story about it. Great video btw!
This is fascinating! I haven't explored priming from this angle but you've definitely shared some interesting insights. Thank you for the information!
Share how YOU experience more awe in your life!
Wow i learned something new dear 😎
So glad to hear that! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
Great way to end the video lol
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for taking the time to comment! :)
Very true. Social media has allowed people to create the illusion of success and having the 'perfect life'. I liked the use of that clip from Peep Show at 0:59. I enjoy your videos. Would be great if you used a mic for your spoken sections as sometimes I struggle to hear everything.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. I appreciate the feedback about the audio, too. I will use a mic in the next video. Take a look when it's published and let me know if the audio is better.
Such a great comparison between movies and real life! Faking it might look cool on screen, but authenticity and growth always win in reality. Fearless > fake every time. 🔥
Authenticity and growth beat faking it every single time! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Authenticity is paramount
It really is! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one!
Is it correct to say that people with social anxiety are scared of feeling that pain and that’s why they are socially anxious? (I have social anxiety)?
Thanks for the question. You may be correct, but there are many root causes of social anxiety. The first step in overcoming it is recognizing the signs and symptoms when it happens. Ask yourself what you think triggered it. And we all want to retreat and withdraw when it happens, but that is the least productive thing we can do. Look for connection with someone you trust. I wish you the best. Thank so much for sharing your thoughts!
Can’t download the white paper
Sorry about that. Send me an email and I'll make sure you get the one you want. Thanks for letting me know.
This was very helpful information ❤in that i had to "endure" the loud music in the background to listen through to the end❤😂
Thanks for the feedback. I'm working on the audio levels. Hopefully, the sound quality is improving.
lol. “Gang” it’s a motorcycle club of motorcycle enthusiast
I recognize that and made sure to put that in the description. BACA is a wonderful organization.
Ie idiots compelling non idiots by being a group
excellent video
Thank you very much!
Reality shows are fake. It’s all bs
Many of them are. It's surprising how many people get hooked on them, though.
Greetings dear Melissa! Congratulations! I have had a meteosensitivity for several years. Do you think that the sympathetic/parasympathetic nervous system and the vagus nerve have to do with meteosensitivity? Thank you very much. God bless you. ☺
Interested to know what was the symbolism attached to the wine poured in wine glasses priming the brain to focus on before selling your book?
Nothing sinister... the title of the book is Happier Hour with Einstein. It's just a play on that.
I understand there are two sides of the same coin in personalities…. I’ve heard that they can feel like they are never good enough. I have seen this and it makes sense. What do you think? Thanks
Good content🎉
Thank you! So glad you found value in this one!
You follow politicians with a D or an R behind their name. You vote for someone that’s a woman or a black man regardless of anything else except maybe that D and that R Then you vote for everyone that has a D behind their name or an R behind their name. It’s no wonder the politicians don’t believe that the people should choose who’s president. People are stupid. Check out those college kids that get asked simple questions and they were in college. They didn’t have third grade knowledge.
I use this video in conjunction with Joe Keohane's 2010 Boston Globe article "How Facts Backfire."
Interesting theory, but it doesn't work in the long-run. Preventing group think must be constantly administered by people of certain educational backgrounds and skills which will naturally degrade over time. Systems are meant to collapse after a time so the only real solution is to harvest skillsets and plan for business succession.
Great Really useful I think however nuts contain a fair amount of omega 6 so that can tip the ratio I guess
Great points, however I found the volume of the music was a bit high. It could be in the background with about 25% reduction in volume. Other than that it was really great.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll be more mindful going forward.
BACA works. Research published in 2017 that proves that BACA works. Chief, Founder, Bikers Against Child Abuse
So how do you change behaviour long term, if reptillian brain can override all other parts of brain if reptillian brain feels threatened in any way. All blocks to habit change, originate in fear? CBT, fear exposure ? If you can't locate the root cause, you can't change behaviour long term? Your thoughts.
I love 2 minutes 23 seconds, - I didn't hear a thing, hilarious! Although very interesting video.
Legend's, bloody Legend's
Please not a biker gang.. They are an MC Motorcycle Club
It is not a kiddo, it is a child or a kid.
BACA is NOT a gang!!!!!!
yesss this is as good as a ted talk! thank u so much <333
You're so welcome! Glad you enjoyed!
Be the "different"!!!!
This us what us happening here in ireland to enoch bourke....
It's funny that it's being called a dangerous way of thinking in this video but in practice someone who doesn't adhere to social norms, even silly ones, is going to be said to be "on the spectrum," or even worse, deviant or psycho/sociopathic.
These nuggets are always insightful... and entertaining. 😊
Thanks! SO Glad you like them!
If only this had hit the RUclips scene much more powerfully 4 years ago! Think how many people wouldn’t have caved.
It's funny until it gets political.
We need this in England as i have never seen BACA.
BACA is international. I would suspect that they are also in the UK.
