    If you’re set up for pass through on the inverter and it only allows you to pass through 2000 watts your not going to be able to run your AC. I had to figure out how to go from watts amps and volts in order to get the correct setup I wanted. You need a 4000 watt inverter to pass through 30 amps it would actually allow you to pass through 32 amps 2000 only allows 16 amps

    • @fairwindsrv
      @fairwindsrv 5 дней назад

      Thanks, but I'm only using the inverter to power a sub panel that has all my outlets on it. So, if it doesn't plug into a string of outlets, it's not on the Renogy inverter. We have a whole different setup as our alternate power source when boondocking. Two EcoFlow power stations, each having a 3600W inverter and 600AH of LiFePO4 batteries. We can send 30 amps to both sides of the electrical system. The reason for the extra Renogy inverter is that I don't have an auto transfer switch (ATS) on the EcoFlow units. Transferring power to them is a manual process. However, the Renogy has an ATS, so I always have power to my outlets.

    Bad design with bunch of 18650 batterys

    • @fairwindsrv
      @fairwindsrv 21 день назад

      Cylindrical, prismatic, and pouch-type batteries all have their advantages and disadvantages. And the cylindrical cells (like the 18650) are the most widely used. To say the battery in this video is "bad design" because it uses these cells is pretty narrow, don't you think? And no matter what type of cell design, it's certainly a significant upgrade from lead-acid at a very reasonable price.

  • @GregNTech

    Lithium ion and lithium-iron phosphate are not the same.

    • @fairwindsrv
      @fairwindsrv 21 день назад

      While you are technically correct, LiFePO4 batteries fall under the umbrella of Lithium Ion. There are distinct advantages of LiFePO4 batteries that separate them from lithium ion, but most people (right or wrong) refer to them as lithium ion in casual conversation. And it's what they're gonna search for when researching batteries.

  • @jasonsites8742
    @jasonsites8742 23 дня назад

    Impressive battery and I had to look the brand up. Priced nicely! Will consider it when my lead acid falls off a cliff. I’m at the Big Red school house currently and ironically we covered converters and inverters today in class. I have the same AD converter you have and the instructors here suggest for lithium to use a manual switch to Li chemistry style converter as the logic in the AD ones supposedly is not consistent though it appears yours is getting the job done based off your conversions and run times. Also I am still in the learning process but I believe the reason the inverter shut off prior to battery reaching 0 is the low volts at 10.9 was likely creating a high amp draw from the inverter that is solid state and more than likely has thermal limits to protect its internals. Don’t believe they cover them in great detail here but from when I worked with them in commercial settings that was a common issue in regards to spent batteries. Dropping 80 lbs of weight from these rigs is huge! Might have to upgrade sooner lol

    • @fairwindsrv
      @fairwindsrv 23 дня назад

      I hadn't heard of them either, but it seems to be a pretty slick battery, especially after watching some of the other review videos on RUclips. I'll be at the schoolhouse next spring and really looking forward to it. Will check into the converter issue you mentioned...thanks for that heads up!

    Dumb question, how do you know the trailer breaks are not working. I have a 4200 pound trailer, not sure we would even feel it

    • @fairwindsrv
      @fairwindsrv 24 дня назад

      Good question. We had drum brakes on our last rig and I was like you...it was hard to tell if they were working. With the disc brakes, it's easy because you can actually feel them. However, you can tell if the trailer brakes are working when you do a tug test. After you hitch up, put the tow vehicle in drive, make sure the parking brake is off, then let off the tow vehicle brakes. You shouldn't move. If you do, your trailer brakes aren't working properly. I also do an occasional trailer brake test on travel days by using the manual brake controller when I'm coming to a stop somewhere. Not a lot...just enough to let me know they're working. Hope that helps.

    I'm like you, there is satisfaction in being able to make repairs yourself. The frustration comes when something breaks unexpectedly and you are in a time crunch to get it repaired. That's when the enjoyment fades.

    Great segment. It's great you can share knowledge with others and get help from others (brakes). It sounds like mobilization days are therapeutic and allows you to reset everything back to 0. Hope that toe is doing better. Be safe.

      The toe is doing ok. It's still pretty crooked, but I'll take a slightly cooked toe over surgery. Lol.

    We made a video about the museum as well, but we lost much of our data due to corruption. Lindsey is who I worked with when we had our IS installed! Dude your truck bed is TOO organized!! LOL...! The watchdog SHOULD shut you down if the voltage gets to low and thank goodness there were no banana peels, else you'd have the good ole comical slip! Great video guys!!! -David

      Jeremy loves having everything in it's own spot and knowing exactly where something is when it's needed. Yeah, the watchdog should keep us from a low voltage situation, but you never know when something will fail. Thanks for watching!

    Do you have an update on how this lock is working?

    • @fairwindsrv
      @fairwindsrv Месяц назад

      We haven't had any problems with it and it's definitely more solid and secure than our previous lock (Latch It) for sure. If you're interested, there's a 10% Amazon discount link and a 15% discount link from the Onnais website in the video description.

    I didn't know pets were allowed in the Museum. Thanks for sharing that info. We saw "The Bird" last year. It's cool to see the old campers. Happy and safe travels! - Tina

      It worked out so well for us since the rig needed to be with MORryde. Not sure what the cats were thinking, lol.
