Harvesting herbs, for dinner? Hopefully herbs is not your actual dinner. Herbs can be used to compliment dinner like you can mix it with something else that you could grow, or you can try making something to drink from it if you are feeling sick, or if you have a problem with inflammation then herbs can try to be used to decrease inflammation.

you can put your cardboard that's just brown in your compost bin. :)

To clean the chicken waterer, I use a scrubbing brush that has a long handle so that I don't have to put my handa in the grotty chooks water 😂

It’s a real shame you took that cardboard to the dump. It’s. Wonderful to use in the garden. Worms love to eat it and worms are great for the garden too. 😊

Was wondering if you could show your favourite recipes? Or canning recipes? I Could sent you some Can. Crook neck squash seeds. They grow really well in my zone 5b in ontario. Taste like butternut but have small bulb and long neck, ideal to make squash fries. I use garlic to deter deer near my fruit trees.

Cardboard can be used as sheet mulch in your vegetable garden to help suppress the weeds. It’s not really burnable right now since it’s likely you have fire burn bans in that neck of the world. Having come from a municipal garbage collection to a “you haul” to the dump, I have to say I’ve come to love the you haul method, especially if you are living intentionally. It really opens your eyes to the personal non compostable waste that is generated by the household. It has changed my purchasing habits, ie types of products I’m willing to buy based on packaging and what my transfer station can recycle. You’re just 3 months in so waste will likely be more as you get settled, but for us it really subsided, and we aren’t “collectors” on our property, anything that could potentially become a resource for wildlife such as human food or man made habitats are protected and discarded.

Nice old cabins just a little fixing here & there beautiful spot great views :) Try laying cardboard on the ground between your rows in the garden & the weeds won't grow threw it :) Love my off grid life would never trade it " I'm just slowed a little with an injury so my board & baton is not going up to fast but lot's of other chores to keep me busy :)

Have to confess, becaus of a sleepless night I binged watch your entire vlog starting with the “why we live off grid”. Let me say that I really enjoyed the humorous blooper footage as well as others have. 😂 The first thing I noticed was the beautiful setting of your 10 acres; a piece of paradise for sure. Immediately the northern ( in Southern Idaho here) climate looked perfect for all the usual cold crops: leafy lettuces, cabbage, kale, collards, spinach, arugula, potatoes, onions, peas, carrots,, beets, radishes, turnips, broccoli, and cauliflower. And it appears you get some rain in summer so not an arid part of Alberta. 😊 Cold crops are so welcome after a long winter, and would complement your frozen meal recipes. Just one heads up, from this old timer, as you guys get organized the the prepared homesteader is always working on ‘next years’ wood. It is a secure feeling to have several years worth of firewood. I have a feeling you already know that though. Your pup Molly is really growing. Peace
