You can only upgrade your spear with a mod slot in the DLC - Frozen Wilds. There is a small quest you can do almost at once when you leave Song's Edge talk to a shaman. You get the Spear mods all the time but cannot use them untl you complete this quest. BTW you get a new spear as a late quest reward. I have seen purple spear mods as high as 29 or 30%. Keep two of them the biggest two for end game

When you repel from a Tallneck the resulting shock explosions could kill any smaller machines close by. You didn't repel from the Sun Steps Tallneck but the game runs a script when Aloy leaves the head of the Tallneck.

The trip wires have a max range so if you try to shoot them at too long a range they won't work. The brackets need to be closed not open. The games tell you this via the aiming reticles.

You can sell anything that just says 'sell for shards', this includes all ancient charms and etc there is no other use for these items except to sell. All flowers are used for elemental resistant potions, such as Fire, Freeze, Shock, and corruption poison resistance. Handy to brew about 8 of each which leaves room for looting those potions. Both glass types can be sold also.

1:06:53 - again, the tripcaster can only be shot at close areas. There is a reticle when you're aiming. If it's wide open, you're aiming too far away. When it shrinks, it can attach.

47:55 unfortunately you were aiming at something too far away, that's why it didn't stick when you shot the arrow.

When you're low on your health bar, don't forget you can hunt for game and craft health potions.

Happy to help! Thankfully for you, the sidequests are mostly additional story with great rewards.

99% of youtube let's play content creators love Horizon zero dawn. more than 1/2 never finish the game. due to soggy middle story. this is normal for most video game (novel) story lines. but if you stick it out the 4th act is awesome. it does follow mostly the hero's journey. to make sense of the game, the game is lore heavy. if you love game lore and good combat, HZD is for you. and you will enjoy it. ) hope to see you through to the awesome end.

Every time you see a green ! it means there is a sidequest. Quite a few available that will give you skill points, XP, and access to great weapons.

The next magical ability you can get is the ability to just call a steed, from anywhere, anytime. 😃

Great video! To make up space in your resources, don't 'DROP' things. If you 'DISASSEMBLE' they turn into shards and added to your wallet.

I love that little Aloy reacts exactly like a kid her age would in that scene coming out of the ruin. What's that on your face? "Nothing" she tries the most unconvincing lie, while trying to hide it 🤣 Did you find it down there? "No..." again trying to lie and having no success.

The dialog in the sidequests may give away clues for what you wil encounter if you do that one and it fleshes out the world a lot more. Also there are datapoints all over the world that wil give you an insight of what kind of world the "old ones" lived in. Just little tidbits of lore and all

You skipped over what resources you received from destroying the Fire Bellowback in the Cauldron. You now have a 44% Tear Coil enhancement! FYI all of the green enhancements are worthless. I never equip any of them, just sell them, because until you learn the skill that allows you to remove previously equipped coils, you're stuck with having the low ones equipped to your weapons.

So, just a thought since you're trying to get your subs up to 1000 and start getting more views: don't skip dialogue. The dialogue is an essential part of the game, even in sidequests. The more you start skipping over dialogue the greater chance you will lose viewers. I know you want to get through it, but just be patient and let it play. The sidequests are not 'just all the same thing'. Please

The volume is too low. RUclips Stats says -10.4dB. It should be closer to 0.0dB, like -3.0dB.

20:40 Don't start asking why electronics still work in this world. It's a cool and fun game choice but doesn't pass the reality test. Most stuff I have without a physical switch stops working after a month without charge.

Hey - new viewer here from the recommended feed. Love this game and looking forward to settling in to watch you play it. The Frozen Wilds was a DLC for the original release, but comes bundled with the base game in both PC versions. Quick question so I know for later: how much do you appreciate/dislike tips, suggestions, or mechanics advice (obviously no story spoilers; that would defeat the purpose of watching you play blind)? Edit to add: good call on the Days Gone vibes - I find that mechanically the two games are _very_ similar.

I love this game, but please please please don’t run so much and “race” the pacing of the game. You are missing Lore and things the game only tells you once, but the game let’s you miss if you rush.

5:34 You scanned it and you see a blue triangle means you can override it like your mount. But unlike your mount you cannot ride it. But it will attack the other machines. While it is doing that you can sneak around the mayhem to get to your destination.

Don’t waste resources crafting or buying fast travel packs. Every merchant has 1 free resource box, and always has a fast travel pack inside.

Another tip, max out capacities as soon as possible. Mark as many enemies as you can before engaging if you are good at stealth

If it helps, remap the controller to be more intuitive to your expectations or logic. I like to use the lower buttons for lower body like crouching/sliding and jumping as those are leg/butt actions and upper buttons for upper body like grabbing things, talking and dodging as those are hand/head actions (a dodge roll requires tucking your head and arms in). Some will divide it with a backslash and the pivot is the thumb joint (group BY/circle&triangle as upper and AX/X&square as lower), while others will divide it using a forward slash, and claw grip or thumb knuckle (closer to wrist and away from wrist) is their intuitive upper/lower division. Find what is logical to you, then remap if necessary.

The menu music that played through practically the rest of the video should have stopped when you left the menu at 26:08. I've had this glitch on ps4 before, but it's very rare. You can try going back to the title screen menu, or shutting down and restarting the game to try and fix it if it happens again.

It might be better not to run all the time. As you noticed when you wanted to climb up you can miss the points to grab easily if you run by. Enjoy the world on a little slower pace and you wont miss as much in the world too

Weapons/Outfits can be buffed with coils/weaves - I found it most useful to not mix types on a single weapon (except for handling - that can be good on any weapon, but I tended only to use them on bows) so hunter bow is all damage, ice weapon all ice coils, banuk outfit all ice weaves, etc. In particular with the top level outfits outfitted with 3 high quality weaves you can shrug off environmental attacks that can practically 1-hit you otherwise. Later in the game when you've unlocked the skill to remove coils/weaves you can respec a single weapon, but in my later playthroughs I would often buy a second shadow hunter bow to spec for pure fire.

Something you may have at least partly figured out, I can't tell yet, but weapons that inflict environmental effects like fire, ice, etc. will build up that status until a ring is full - so shooting once or slowly may not be effective. But once that ring is full and the enemy is on fire, frozen, etc. then you should switch to a pure damage weapon because the effect buildup does nothing, then switch back to build up the status again. Different enemy types are resistent to different effects, but even if they are resistent to freeze it may still be useful to build that up if you can do so relatively quickly because frozen machines take increased physical damage - up to 3x! Oh, and an enemy can only be affected by one status at a time.

Early goal should be crafting larger resource pouches as that will be a limitation quicker than you think. Only some of the plants you pick up are for healing, the rest are for crafting potions which frankly I made little use of - I'd craft potions and then sell/drop the rest if you need the space. Also for the larger pouches you'll need a lot of ridgewood but every 250 takes up one slot of resources so you should stop picking up the wood when you have a comfortable amount - like 750. Once you reach the city of Meridian you can buy an infinite use fast travel pack - by that point the charm of crafting them will have gotten old. The tutorials you get when you buy a weapon are good for easy xp and figuring out how to use them well.

Portal 1 was basically just a little bonus for the orange box release of Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 to the Xbox 360 and PS3. That's why it's so short. If you want to learn a bit more about the story, Portal 2 has an extras menu. It contains a comic called "Lab Rat" that explains what lead to Portal 1 and bridges the story to Portal 2.
