Out of over 100 cameras, I've sold more photos taken with this camera than any of my other film cameras. Be careful with your composition and technique. I love the huge viewfinder. Shoot cheaper film. Your lab did a poor job scanning and cleaning the negatives too. I found that the SureShot A1 is a similar shooting experience but the photos are crisper, it has a 32mm lens, you might like it.

I just got a model b. I have a question about how yours functions. The shutter lever opens up the lense but when I shoot it doesn't close it. I have to push the lever the rest of the way to close the shutter completely so no light gets in. Is it supposed to be that way, if not I can make it work. I have another coming to me so I'll compare the 2 then.

You have a flex body? That's how it works by bending the body so that the film and lens aren't parallel to each other you can focus up front and far away. It's just tricky to get it right

good luck, I have started too, a few tips, go slow, as mat marrash says on his "large format Friday" youtube channel learn the 'dance', what he calls the motions of using a camera. Don't use too much movements yet, get used to the film loading, shutting the preview lever!, putting the holders in, practice living with it, then be adventurous, with movements, film, but learn the camera, if it has any light leaks in holders, lens shutter operation, etc. as well as bellows and filter factors, etc. so you get the exposure right, and learn the depth of field it has, when is f 45 useful, to get a deep dof, or what effect the open iris has, is the selective focus offered by the f 9 or f 5.6 needed for a shot?, and how to critically focus, as this system can be hard to focus with such a shallow dof.

I have a rangefinder I can hold in my hand that is good for determining the proper focusing distance. I find it's reasonably accurate.

Nice vid. I use a Bronica SQ-B and get 18 frames (36Ex) with the adapter. Thing is the size is actually 56x36 (if you count the sprokets on both sides its 36mm). This then makes it 3:2 aspect ratio - same as actual 36mm film. Very nice as the frames are more than double surface area of 'standard' 35mm film. I print these at A3 and the sprocket aesthetic is very pleasing - especially with low ISO B&W. regards 👍

Is digital really less expensive? Hard drives, back up hard drives, back ups for the back up, Internet access needs to be paid for so does cloud storage and editing software. More mega pixels mean larger and larger files meaning even more storage etc etc etc and then the tech gets superceded and you need all new hardware.....A strip of negatives can be stored in a shoebox... I grew up with film now shoot digital but my old tech is starting to fail and I do less and less social media so do I spend my money on new tech? ....the cost of that would buy me a lot of HP5...🤔
