@@kendodd1 Yeah, still plodding on. Lost the thrill a bit for about a month recently but I've given myself a kick up the ass and am back on it again. I have a few little things I can post soon which will be good, and then a bit of session stuff, and also back on to working on my next instrumental project. Plus, I am determined to start gigging again this year, really missing it now. Nice to see you still creating some awesome guitars Ken 🙂

Cheers Ken. Yes, some nice pedals. I have sold a lot of the last 2-3 years as in reality, although I would try different pedals, you always go back to what you like, so I thought what's the point. For my base sound I love the Butler, and the OCD for heavier stuff / solos etc, I love compression and the Xotic and MXR do that very well. And I am quite happy with the Strymon Mobius as it seems to do the Arion SCH-1 sound and flange / phase etc very well. If I was to experiment with any more pedals I think it'd be in the FX / modulation / synth department. Anyway, this band should be very good. Great singer, bass and drums. It's just covers played in our own style, but as I said on Steve's post, it will be nice to get out playing again. 🙂

Yes, I have in the last 12 months found myself thinking about all the things that have gone wrong in the last 2-3 years with covid, some death and having to get a job I absolutely hated which really got me down, my loss of self employment and it made me forget to have fun and be happy in my life. I have been very frustrated recently about what to do next in life, and getting VERY frustrated with my frustration, but the advice some friends gave me on my Facebook post the other day really helped me understand I need to just stop worrying and focus on the GREAT things I have in my life right NOW, and worry about future finances etc in a few months. One thing I do know is that when one is happy, 'good things come to them'. Plus, I really don’t like not being unhappy, no matter what Doug says 🙂. Here are some words from a muso friend the other day that really helped give me a boost and today put things into perspective: ******************************** Just remember to have fun in the meantime - believe me life is really too short. I have 3 maxims I'll share with you, first from that great philosopher Popeye "I am what I am and that's all that I am" (better than that Descartes if you ask me), Secondly from the late great Stephen Bruton "What makes us grow old is replacing hope with regret" (From "Too many memories"), Thirdly from Happy Talk in South Pacific "You've got to have a dream, if you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true". That's all you need right there 😂 You're welcome. ******************************** The one that hit home for me was this one - "What makes us grow old is replacing hope with regret" I had found myself thinking too much of regret and things I no longer do, when I should have realised that there are so many great musical things I can do, and as I already know, the fun is in the journey. And yes, I have always loved gear and getting out playing, and I am going to ensure this new band is up and running VERY soon. We technically started the band about 12 months ago, but the drummer became seriously ill and we had to take a break. But we are doing some wonderful songs as a four piece, such as ‘After The Love Has Gone’ and stripped down versions of Bozz Scaggs, Bee Gees, Nik Kershaw and even Gregory Porter etc. The singer Mick has a superb voice. So, you’re going to see lots more positivity from me again soon Ken, back to my old fun self. I think even Doug will be surprised with my positivity when doing our workshop videos. I am definitely at a point in life where change is required, but if I can't take a chance, no one can.!!! Thanks for the message Ken, you’ve become a good ‘online’ friend and I appreciate it.

Hi Ken, thank you so very much for your lovely supportive words. Ref earning money from music, that's a whole new discussion. In an ideal world I'd get a sync and several £k come in, but that's not going to happen, certainly not for someone at my age now. Ken, the main thing for me now is people hearing my music and myself enjoying doing it. Thanks again for being supportive, it means a lot.

Hi Vladimir, thanks for the comment, and thank you for sharing about your Gibson. I think a used guitar looks much better than one that is old and looks like it's never been played. Mine does have plenty of signs of being used, few marks on the back and some signs on the bridge and the bridge pick up. The main reason mine is in such nice condition is not really a very happy tale. It was bought by it's owner many years ago, and he played it in a band in Staffordshire UK for about 9 months. Due to issues with his relationship with his GF he took his own life. It was then kept under his sister bed for almost 40 years until I bought it. Both nice and sad that in the guitar case, it was as if it was left after his last gig. His plectrums in an old tobacco tin, a cloth and a curly lead. I'm not someone who enjoys standing up with a Les Paul, I am a Strat and Tele guy, but I use this Les Paul in my studio and I have to say it has a GREAT sound. I feel very luck to own it as I am you do with your superb guitar. Thanks for getting in touch. :-)

Thanks Dave, and thank you for taking the time to comment. Yep, I am pretty proud of this track. It took a few attempts with guitar's and keys to get it right, ie I did the first demo, got the drums and bass and keys done, then the keyboard solos from Nigel were so good I had to re-do my guitar solos and I am very glad I did. This was the first instrumental track I wrote for fun after my song writing partnership / project ended about 3 years earlier suddenly after Steve had a stroke, so I had nothing to do except mess about with my 'silly' instrumentals. After some persuasion from drummer Ben Stone I decided to try a so called album..!!!! Mixing it was a nightmare as I realised I wasn't as good as I thought, so took 6 months off to learn some skills to finish it. It is FAR from perfect, but I don't look back, I am very proud of it. Regarding it doing well. It has done VERY well for myself, and my confidence. I'd love to play this music live but logically and financially it's as good as impossible unless I want to bankrupt myself to satisfy my ego.... I am VERY happy it's just out there. Cheers Dave.

Guitar wise I was just experimenting with a couple of things before whilst deciding whether I was going to try doing my guitars a slightly different way after this track. I am now using, or messing about with some new gear and hopefully it'll be obvious in my next lot of tracks. Hopefully LOL

My standards of playing are far higher than my ability, and I don't actually play my guitar that much anymore, so my technique isn't as good as I want for spontaneous type performance. But, we get there in the end with my new saying... "It's good enough..." Practice more recording and videoing and you'll get better at it. Most guitarists worst enemy is their own brain... LOL
