Lone Star Rails
США
Добавлен 11 май 2009
Used to be Gold Bar Trackside as was first located in Gold Bar, WA right on the northern mainline of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) and was 20 miles west of Skykomish, WA, a well known Railfan camera spot. I have since moved to Lone Star, TX and have expanded the locations of video to other states as well. I choose not to appear in the video as I don't intend to become the star of the show, the trains are the stars.

Union Pacific 4014 Big Boy Honors Big Sandy, Texas
Просмотров 995Месяц назад
As a part of the Big Boy Heartland of America Tour 4014 was to make a stop in Big Sandy, Texas for dedication of Train Town USA. After an overnight stop in Texarkana, Arkansas 4014 left on time at 9AM to proceed to Big Sandy but within an hour things went bad as a freight broke down in Mount Pleasant, Texas blocking the mainline for over 3 hours. This caused two other freights ahead of 4014 and...

Long Slow BNSF Freight East of Claude, TX
Просмотров 527 месяцев назад
On Dec 19, 2023 caught a long BNSF stacker making slow progress on a long incline 6 miles east of Claude, TX or 25 miles east of Amarillo. Intersection of Highway 287 and Hotel Road. May not be as exciting as a fast one roaring by but something to have running while your doing your taxes or whatever.

A view of the town of Green River, Wyoming and it's Union Pacific Rail yard. It's a cold windy day so made holding a camera harder, pardon the jumpiness.

Amtrak #8 roars through the East side of Gold Bar, WA then catch the East bound empty coal closer in a town. You can notice the auto-cars on the siding as the coal train rolls by. This train I catch later going through Baring, WA.
Dual Union Pacific at Cheyenne, WY
Просмотров 68Год назад
While driving from Gold Bar, WA to Lone Star, TX I spotted a Union Pacific manifest on tracks parallel to I-80. Using the GPS I found where I could get close to the track. I turned on to a state road and found the spot just a few minutes before the train got there. It's unfortunate that the sun was exactly in the wrong place and being Wyoming was very windy and no time to set up the tripod. Yes...
Two Freight Meet at Baring, WA
Просмотров 194Год назад
At the crossing on 635th Place NE off of US Highway 2 in Baring, WA a stacker freight stops on the main waiting for a coal train to pass by on the siding. As the coal train arrives the container train begins to pull out. The result is the two meeting right on the crossing with horns blasting like dueling banjos. (corrected)

Geo, High rail, and Freight engine Amtrak, Oh My!

Just a few odd things collected over couple of days. Couple of Geo trains, a high rail booking down the track, ambulance screams through Gold Bar, WA, and a lowly freight engine once again rescued Amtrak carrying it on to Seattle followed by the departure of the empty tank cars on the siding.

Nice video!
Good shots!
Nice catch! Just a small correction, the Q train was on the main and the empty coal was on the siding.
Aww details details 😁 but your right I got it backwards. You just think that the one who gets there first will take the siding but as we see here not always. OK description fixed.
@@LoneStarRails Hehe, we all have our moments (I've had a lot lol).
Nice shots!
I can't believe how the 3rd and 4th fuselages are moving around so much. I wouldn't think that would be normal.
Nice catches.
Excelente video saludos desde Querétaro México buena velocidad y mucha potencia 😮😮😮😮
Gracias
Nice shots! I caught the first GEO train in Index!
Nice video!
Good catch anyway!
Thanks Carla

Nice video!
Amazing video! Keep up the great work!
I had no idea Boeing moved air fuselage through Trains!
Very nice. I live on the Scenic Sub at Sunset Falls , across from the Sunset Falls BNSF Bridge (MP 1744.1) at Sunset Falls Lodge. I get to see all these great trains every day. Pretty lite power for that train even as short as it was. Looked like a P8 in position #2. Keep Up the good work.
here we go
Havnt seen them split locos on a bare table before.
Hey! I saw a Ferromex diesel too! I wonder why on earth they are so far north?
HOLY, DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU CAUGHT!?
Wow! That was not only a long train, that was one epic shot! Thanks for this!
did you get an axle count on that train? Seemed pretty long. Just noticed, 2 EMD's on the point. Nice!!
My backyard. I have chased trains from Interbay to Wenatchee many times all up and down the Scenic Sub. There are lots of places to run parallel to the track, pace, chase and race the trains. Especially once you get to W Monroe. From W Monroe all the way to Skykomish there are many places where the track runs right next to Hiway 2, and there are many epic places to shoot stills or videos. I live on Sunset Falls right across the river from the BNSF Sunset Falls Bridge. I have the pleasure of seeing all of these trains every day. Many of the engineers at AMTRAK and BNSF honk and wave at us as they pass. Great video. Thanks.
Thank you for making such a good video about the Great Northern and Cascade Railway. It’s a great outing for family, friends and visitors. What a great opportunity to include a little history lesson with a high quality theme park ride. And it’s FREE.
Cool train - that is a ton of power all at the head end. Neat to catch a Ferromex SD70ACe way up here and an old warbonnet. That "Bolt" fire sure was bad... didn't really get it knocked down until the rains came.
bien por el video y la ferromex
I remember when this started, I was just like, holy crap, skykomish is gonna burn!
Thank god it didnt
All shots of my backyard and surroundings. I live on the Scenic Sub at Sunset Falls. Is this channel hosted by RF? Some of you know me by my YT handle some by my name. Nice video.
Thank you
Thx for the video. The camera shake was a bit to much.
Thanks for sharing this! Amazing how close it came to Sky and Grotto, scary.
Thank you for this stunning, sad view of the Bolt Creek Fire damage along Highway 2, the Stevens Pass Highway in Washington State.
People doing 9/11 commerations: BNSF:
4 locos---must be some very heavy water!
Staging is right across from my girlfriends cousins house across the street in the beginning with the big white truck lol
Great video I subscribe to your channel
Like the ex fuel tender in the mix
surprised that tanker still exists let alone the torture it got being in between 2 locos at times.
I have pics of it up in Baring .it was good to see the RR protecting their investments it was a good piece of mind seeing that thing
Thank you from penna.
They shoved up the hill that far?!?!?!?! O.o
I live on the Scenic Sub across the river on the south fork of the Skykomish at the Sunset Falls BNSF bridge. I saw this fire train go by. For the record, one of the key functions of the fire trains is to wet down track side brush and combustibles and put out any hot spots or smaller fires near the track. The Bolt Creek fire never really got close enough to the sub for the water canons on that caboose to be used as far as I know but I may be incorrect if the poster actually knows that this train did fight any part of the wild fire. The fire was actually NW of Skykomish, but the prevailing winds were blowing smoke and ash the direction of Skykomish, leading to the evacuation, like Grotto and Baring, adjacent communities to the fire. Regardless, I'm glad somebody caught a glimpse of this train here in Western Washington, something we have rarely seen, but we may be seeing a lot more of if we have any more fires. Nice work catching this unique piece or railroad equipment.
I wish I could have gotten them in action but no way was I going to be able to get in there. As far as Skykomish no I don’t think it was in danger of fire itself but it did come near the tracks along hwy 2. Just before hwy 2 mp 43 roughly track mp 1737 the tracks are on the north side and the fire came very close if not up to the tracks. At mp 43 the tracks pass under the highway to it’s south side. From there down to mp 44 track mp 1736 on the north side of Grotto the fire did come to the highway and jumped a couple places and that is where the fire train worked. If you want to see just where the fire is and how close it came to things here’s a link to the active fire map. snoco-gis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant/basic/index.html?appid=da7d6a80a5d143a3ad964e0befb861a8 Also you can see things are much better as far as alert levels go. Highway is still closed and is expected to remain closed for months because of rockslides, falling trees, there’s pictures of a 50 inch trees crashed down on the road at the tunnel mp 46, and fire fighting equipment. As soon as I can get in there I promise to post video.
Thanks Gold Bar
Nice! Subscribed.
Thank you for this!
Wow amazing how they setup like that right there good video!
gold bar was never under an evac of any kind. evac line for level one has never gone beyond city limits. -someone who lives just outside city limits and was included in the evac lvl one area which ended early today.
oops yup ok I see the title error,Evacuation Levels: There have been no significant changes to the fire through the day. The fire remains active, evacuation notices remain the same. Level 3 (GO now!): Index Level 2 (Set): Between Index and Zeke’s Level 1 (Ready): Zeke’s to Gold Bar east city limits
@@LoneStarRails yeah, just don't want to scare anyone who shouldn't be worried.
Wonder what was in those tankers. Water I hope
bet they some fire retardant somewhere....
Thank you for the info..God bless.
